    Multi-Scale Memory Comparison for Zero-/Few-Shot Anomaly Detection

    Anomaly detection has gained considerable attention due to its broad range of applications, particularly in industrial defect detection. To address the challenges of data collection, researchers have introduced zero-/few-shot anomaly detection techniques that require minimal normal images for each category. However, complex industrial scenarios often involve multiple objects, presenting a significant challenge. In light of this, we propose a straightforward yet powerful multi-scale memory comparison framework for zero-/few-shot anomaly detection. Our approach employs a global memory bank to capture features across the entire image, while an individual memory bank focuses on simplified scenes containing a single object. The efficacy of our method is validated by its remarkable achievement of 4th place in the zero-shot track and 2nd place in the few-shot track of the Visual Anomaly and Novelty Detection (VAND) competition.Comment: VAND Runner-up Winner in CVPR 202

    Supply chain planning decisions under demand uncertainty

Companies are considering such unconstrained demand forecasts in their decisions on investment in supply chain resources. However, demand forecasts are often associated with uncertainty. This research applies Monte Carlo simulation, value at risk and gain curve analysis, and real option analysis to investigate how the uncertainty of demands affects supply chain planning in order to make better supply chain investment decisions. This analytical framework was used to analyze the ocean shipping plans and inland trucking arrangements for Chiquita. Demands for Product A and front haul over a six-year period were simulated based upon forecasted distributions. The net income, revenue and costs as affected by ocean shipping plans were obtained by inputting the simulated demands to ocean shipping models. The major decision for Chiquita is whether to charter one large ship or two ships which provide approximately equivalent capacity. A large ship would save fuel costs. The plans for two smaller ships have the flexibility of using one ship only if future demand or price reactions warrant it. Using the analytical framework, a plan for two smaller ships is superior to that for one large ship because of significant real option value, particularly in the event of increases in fuel costs in the future. Chiquita's current inland trucking model, a mixed arrangement with a dedicated fleet and common carriers, seems to offer a good solution for the future needs.     Transmission of H7N9 influenza virus in mice by different infective routes.

    BackgroundOn 19 February 2013, the first patient infected with a novel influenza A H7N9 virus from an avian source showed symptoms of sickness. More than 349 laboratory-confirmed cases and 109 deaths have been reported in mainland China since then. Laboratory-confirmed, human-to-human H7N9 virus transmission has not been documented between individuals having close contact; however, this transmission route could not be excluded for three families. To control the spread of the avian influenza H7N9 virus, we must better understand its pathogenesis, transmissibility, and transmission routes in mammals. Studies have shown that this particular virus is transmitted by aerosols among ferrets.MethodsTo study potential transmission routes in animals with direct or close contact to other animals, we investigated these factors in a murine model.ResultsViable H7N9 avian influenza virus was detected in the upper and lower respiratory tracts, intestine, and brain of model mice. The virus was transmissible between mice in close contact, with a higher concentration of virus found in pharyngeal and ocular secretions, and feces. All these biological materials were contagious for naïve mice.ConclusionsOur results suggest that the possible transmission routes for the H7N9 influenza virus were through mucosal secretions and feces

    Incremental Optimization of Hub and Spoke Network for the Spokes’ Numbers and Flow

    Hub and spoke network problem is solved as part of a strategic decision making process which may have a profound effect on the future of enterprises. In view of the existing network structure, as time goes on, the number of spokes and the flow change because of different sources of uncertainty. Hence, the incremental optimization of hub and spoke network problem is considered in this paper, and the policy makers should adopt a series of strategies to cope with the change, such as setting up new hubs, adjusting the capacity level of original hubs, or closing some original hubs. The objective is to minimize the total cost, which includes the setup costs for the new hubs, the closure costs, and the adjustment costs for the original hubs as well as the flow routing costs. Two mixed-integer linear programming formulations are proposed and analyzed for this problem. China Deppon Logistics as an example is performed to present computational analysis, and we analyze the changes in the solutions driven by the number of spokes and the flow.     AbstractAgainst problems in terms of stability, airtightness and so on of current fast sealing airbag, stability and airtightness of fast sealing airbag in simulating tunnel was studied through combining theoretical analysis and experiment. The ideal viton material is finally found after comparing and analyzing heat resistance, flame resistance, wear resistance, hardness and air permeability of different kinds of rubber. Sealing and wind blocking effects of airbags made from selected material are tested in simulating tunnel. Rate of air leakage and changing rate of wind pressure of each kind of rubber are also determined and further verified, with result that both indexes of viton material are the least, respectively only 4.25% and 4.66%

    BackgroundThe current study was conducted to establish animal models (including mouse and ferret) for the novel avian-origin H7N9 influenza virus.FindingsA/Anhui/1/2013 (H7N9) virus was administered by intranasal instillation to groups of mice and ferrets, and animals developed typical clinical signs including body weight loss (mice and ferrets), ruffled fur (mice), sneezing (ferrets), and death (mice). Peak virus shedding from respiratory tract was observed on 2 days post inoculation (d.p.i.) for mice and 3-5 d.p.i. for ferrets. Virus could also be detected in brain, liver, spleen, kidney, and intestine from inoculated mice, and in heart, liver, and olfactory bulb from inoculated ferrets. The inoculation of H7N9 could elicit seroconversion titers up to 1280 in ferrets and 160 in mice. Leukopenia, significantly reduced lymphocytes but increased neutrophils were also observed in mouse and ferret models.ConclusionsThe mouse and ferret model enables detailed studies of the pathogenesis of this illness and lay the foundation for drug or vaccine evaluation
