|V_ub| and |V_cb|, Charm Counting and Lifetime Differences in Inclusive Bottom Hadron Decays
Inclusive bottom hadron decays are analyzed based on the heavy quark
effective field theory (HQEFT). Special attentions in this paper are paid to
the b\to u transitions and nonspectator effects. As a consequence, the CKM
quark mixing matrix elements |V_ub| and |V_cb| are reliably extracted from the
inclusive semileptonic decays B\to X_u e \nu and B\to X_c e \nu. Various
observables, such as the semileptonic branch ratio B_SL, the lifetime
differences among B^-, B^0, B_s and \Lambda_b hadrons, the charm counting n_c,
are predicted and found to be consistent with the present experimental data.Comment: 20 pages, Revtex, 4 figures and 2 table
Combined large-N_c and heavy-quark operator analysis for the chiral Lagrangian with charmed baryons
The chiral Lagrangian with charmed baryons of spin and
is analyzed. We consider all counter terms that are relevant at
next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (NLO) in a chiral extrapolation of
the charmed baryon masses. At NLO we find 16 low-energy parameters. There
are 3 mass parameters for the anti-triplet and the two sextet baryons, 6
parameters describing the meson-baryon vertices and 7 symmetry breaking
parameters. The heavy-quark spin symmetry predicts four sum rules for the
meson-baryon vertices and degenerate masses for the two baryon sextet fields.
Here a large- operator analysis at NLO suggests the relevance of one
further spin-symmetry breaking parameter. Going from NLO to NLO adds 17
chiral symmetry breaking parameters and 24 symmetry preserving parameters. For
the leading symmetry conserving two-body counter terms involving two baryon
fields and two Goldstone boson fields we find 36 terms. While the heavy-quark
spin symmetry leads to sum rules, an expansion in at
next-to-leading order (NLO) generates parameter relations. A
combined expansion leaves 3 unknown parameters only. For the symmetry breaking
counter terms we find 17 terms, for which there are sum rules from the
heavy-quark spin symmetry and sum rules from a expansion at
NLO.Comment: 34 pages - one table - corrections applie
A More Precise Extraction of |V_{cb}| in HQEFT of QCD
The more precise extraction for the CKM matrix element |V_{cb}| in the heavy
quark effective field theory (HQEFT) of QCD is studied from both exclusive and
inclusive semileptonic B decays. The values of relevant nonperturbative
parameters up to order 1/m^2_Q are estimated consistently in HQEFT of QCD.
Using the most recent experimental data for B decay rates, |V_{cb}| is updated
to be |V_{cb}| = 0.0395 \pm 0.0011_{exp} \pm 0.0019_{th} from B\to D^{\ast} l
\nu decay and |V_{cb}| = 0.0434 \pm 0.0041_{exp} \pm 0.0020_{th} from B\to D l
\nu decay as well as |V_{cb}| = 0.0394 \pm 0.0010_{exp} \pm 0.0014_{th} from
inclusive B\to X_c l \nu decay.Comment: 7 pages, revtex, 4 figure
Electron-Phonon Interactions for Optical Phonon Modes in Few-Layer Graphene
We present a first-principles study of the electron-phonon (e-ph)
interactions and their contributions to the linewidths for the optical phonon
modes at and K in one to three-layer graphene. It is found that due to
the interlayer coupling and the stacking geometry, the high-frequency optical
phonon modes in few-layer graphene couple with different valence and conduction
bands, giving rise to different e-ph interaction strengths for these modes.
Some of the multilayer optical modes derived from the - mode of
monolayer graphene exhibit slightly higher frequencies and much reduced
linewidths. In addition, the linewidths of K- related modes in
multilayers depend on the stacking pattern and decrease with increasing layer
numbers.Comment: 6 pages,5 figures, submitted to PR
