Exploring Characteristics of Patent-Paper Citations and Development of New Indicators

    Get PDF
In this study, the characteristics of “papers cited in patents” are examined and impact indicators of them based on existing bibliometric indicators are developed. First, the nature of patent-paper citations is examined for Japanese scientific papers as the basic knowledge for developing indicators. Second, the patent-paper citation index (PPCI) indicator, which was proposed in the previous study, is revised. Third, a set of indicators, named High Feature Valued Patent-Paper Citation Index, which is based on three feature values of citing patents, is proposed. Evidence using our new indicators is presented and the tendency of patent-paper citations of Japanese three sectors such as university, public institute, and corporation is discussed. Finally, issues to be addressed are discussed

Supersymmetric Heavy Higgses at e^+e^- Linear Collider and Dark-Matter Physics

We consider the capability of the e^+e^- linear collider (which is recently called as the International Linear Collider, or ILC) for studying the properties of the heavy Higgs bosons in the supersymmetric standard model. We pay special attention to the large \tan\beta region which is motivated, in particular, by explaining the dark-matter density of the universe (i.e., so-called ``rapid-annihilation funnels''). We perform a systematic analysis to estimate expected uncertainties in the masses and widths of the heavy Higgs bosons assuming an energy and integrated luminosity of \sqrt{s}=1 TeV and L=1 ab^{-1}. We also discuss its implication to the reconstruction of the dark-matter density of the universe.Comment: 28 pages, 13 figures, version to appear in PR

Synthesis of poly(conjugated ester)s by ring-opening polymerization of cyclic hemiacetal ester bearing acryl skeleton

Available online 20 August 2019Ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of 2,6-dimethyl-5-methylene-1,3-dioxan-4-one (DMDO), a cyclic hemiacetal ester containing an acrylate skeleton, was investigated. Although the ROPs catalyzed by tin(II) 2-ethylhexanoate [Sn(Oct)(2)] and 1,5,7-triazabicyclo[4.4.0]dec-5-ene (TBD) did not yield polymeric products, diphenyl phosphate (DPP) functioned a catalyst for the ROP through acyl scission accompanying with the elimination of acetaldehyde at 50 degrees C and 80 degrees C. The resulting polymer was a poly(conjugated ester) that had similar structure to the polymer of alpha-methylene-beta-butyrolactone (M beta BL), an alpha-exomethylene lactone with four-membered ring. Copolymerizations of epsilon-caprolactone and delta-valerolactone were also performed to yield the corresponding polyesters. The chemoselective main chain scission of the copolymers at the conjugated ester units were achieved by conjugate substitution reaction with benzyl mercaptan. Although the ROP of DMDO left a problem in the control of molecular weight, DMDO exhibited a potential as an easier accessible monomer alternative to M beta BL for the preparation of bio- and chemo-degradable polyesters.ArticleEUROPEAN POLYMER JOURNAL.120:109185(2019)journal articl

    Revenue-capped efficient auctions

    Get PDF
We study an auction that maximizes the expected social surplus under an upperbound constraint on the seller's expected revenue, which we call a revenue cap. Such a constrained-efficient auction may arise, for example, when: (i) the auction designer is "pro-buyer", that is, he maximizes the weighted sum of the buyers' and seller's auction payoffs, where the weight for the buyers is greater than that for the seller; (ii) the auction designer maximizes the (unweighted) total surplus in a multi-unit auction in which the number of units the seller owns is private information; or (iii) multiple sellers compete to attract buyers before the auction. We characterize the mechanisms for constrained-efficient auctions and identify their important properties. First, the seller sets no reserve price and sells the good for sure. Second, with a nontrivial revenue cap, "bunching" is necessary. Finally, with a sufficiently severe revenue cap, the constrained-efficient auction has a bid cap, so that bunching occurs at least "at the top," that is, "no distortion at the top" fails

A cooperative water effect in proazaphosphatranecatalysed heterocycle synthesis

    Get PDF
The synthesis of oxazolines and imidazolines was achieved by activation of isocyanides with water. Mechanistic studies show that the organosuperbase proazaphosphatrane is tolerant of water within the reaction medium, with a beneficial and cooperative effect being observed
