    Conversion of Route Guide between Sentences and Rough Sketch via Coded Information

    This paper discusses coded information of various attributes in guide map and mutual conversion between sentences and rough sketch. Practically a tool for converting linguistic route guide to visual map and a tool for converting visual map to linguistic route guide are proposed. The total system is implemented in a workstation by some computer programs; morphological analyzer, Japanese dictionary, data processor described by a programming language 'Perl' and a drawing tool of map. Precise mechanism in human brains for associating linguistic sentences with images is not clear. In this research, morphological analyzer extracts map attributes from sentences. Linguistic sentences of route guide are associated with visual map by attribute terms about direction, right/left side, crossings, buildings, qualitative distance and so on. Effectiveness of this system is estimated about some examples and discussions are also given to put this system to practical use

    Expression of SARS‐CoV‐2 entry factors in human oral tissue

    The distribution of cells expressing SARS‐CoV‐2 entry factor angiotensin‐converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) and transmembrane serine protease 2 (TMPRSS2) in human oral tissues were tested. The investigation was conducted with normal flesh tissue and paraffin‐embedded specimens. The ACE2 and TMPRSS2 expression was detected with all subjects in the normal mucosa of the keratinized stratified squamous epithelia of the tongue and non‐keratinized stratified squamous epithelia of the lip and cheek. It was found that ACE2 is expressed in the cytoplasm and on the cell membrane mainly in the stratum granulosum of the epithelia while the TMPRSS2 is strongly expressed on the cell membrane mainly in the stratum granulosum and stratum spinosum, but not in the stratum basale. Antibodies’ reactions for ACE2 and TMPRSS2 were not observed in the nuclei or keratin layer. The expression of ACE2 and TMPRSS2 in the oral epithelia appears to be general, and the expression was also observed in the mucous and serous acini of the labial glands. The SARS‐CoV‐2 may transiently attach to the oral mucosa and the minor salivary glands which are present under all of the oral mucosa. The oral cavity can be considered an important organ for SARS‐CoV‐2 attachment and may provide a preventive medical avenue to guard against COVID‐19 by preventing saliva from scattering

    Evaluation of VI index forecasting model by machine learning for Yahoo! stock BBS using volatility trading simulation

    The risk avoidance is very crucial in investment and asset management. One commonly used index as a risk index is the VI index. Suwa et al. (2017) analyzed stock bulletin board messages and predicted it rise. In our study, we developed a simulation of trading Nikkei stock index options using intra-day data and verified the validity of the VI index prediction model proposed by Suwa et al. In a period from November 18, 2014, to June 29, 2016, we conducted a simulation using a long straddle strategy. The profit and loss from trading with the instructions of their model was +3,021 yen. The benchmark\u27s profit and loss was -3,590 yen. The improvement with their model was +6,611 yen. Therefore, we confirmed that Suwa et al.\u27s VI index prediction model might be effective

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Chondrogenesis and subsequent endochondral ossification are processes tightly regulated by the transcription factor Sox9 (SRY-related high mobility group-Box gene 9), but molecular mechanisms underlying this activity remain unclear. Here we report that coactivator-associated arginine methyltransferase 1 (CARM1) regulates chondrocyte proliferation via arginine methylation of Sox9.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>CARM1-null mice display delayed endochondral ossification and decreased chondrocyte proliferation. Conversely, cartilage development of CARM1 transgenic mice was accelerated. CARM1 specifically methylates Sox9 at its HMG domain <it>in vivo </it>and <it>in vitro</it>. Arg-methylation of Sox9 by CARM1 disrupts interaction of Sox9 with beta-catenin, regulating <it>Cyclin D1 </it>expression and cell cycle progression of chondrocytes.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>These results establish a role for CARM1 as an important regulator of chondrocyte proliferation during embryogenesis.</p

    The effects inhibiting the proliferation of cancer cells by far-infrared radiation (FIR) are controlled by the basal expression level of heat shock protein (HSP) 70A

    We developed a tissue culture incubator that can continuously irradiate cells with far-infrared radiation (FIR) of wavelengths between 4 and 20 μm with a peak of 7–12 μm, and found that FIR caused different inhibiting effects to five human cancer cell lines, namely A431 (vulva), HSC3 (tongue), Sa3 (gingiva), A549 (lung), and MCF7 (breast). Then, in order to make clear the control system for the effect of FIR, the gene expression concerned to the inhibition effect by FIR were analyzed. In consequence, basal expression level of HSP70A mRNA was higher in A431 and MCF7 cells than in the FIR-sensitive HSC3, Sa3, and A549 cells. Also, the over expression of HSP70 inhibited FIR-induced growth arrest in HSC3 cells, and an HSP70 siRNA inhibited the proliferation of A431 cells by irradiation with FIR. These results indicate that the effect of a body temperature range of FIR suppressing the proliferation of some cancer cells is controlled by the basal expression level of heat shock protein (HSP) 70A. This finding suggested that FIR should be very effective medical treatment for some cancer cells which have a low level of HSP70. Still more, if the level of HSP70 in any cancer of a patient was measured, the effect of medical treatment by FIR can be foreseen for the cancer

This clinical guideline for AKI was developed by a multidisciplinary approach with nephrology, intensive care medicine, blood purification, and pediatrics.     Open-source Software for Developing Anthropomorphic Spoken Dialog Agents

    An architecture for highly-interactive human-like spoken-dialog agent is discussed in this paper. In order to easily integrate the modules of different characteristics including speech recognizer, speech synthesizer, facial-image synthesizer and dialog controller, each module is modeled as a virtual machine that has a simple common interface and is connected to each other through a broker (communication manager). The agent system under development is supported by the IPA and it will be publicly available as a software toolkit this year
