-- coupling in He with the Nijmegen soft-core potentials
The -- coupling in
He is studied with the [ + +
] + [ + + ] + [ + + ] model,
where the particle is assumed as a frozen core. We use the Nijmegen
soft-core potentials, NSC97e and NSC97f, for the valence baryon-baryon part,
and the phenomenological potentials for the parts (=,
, and ). We find that the calculated of He for NSC97e and NSC97f are,
respectively, 0.6 and 0.4 MeV in the full coupled-channel calculation, the
results of which are about half in comparison with the experimental data,
MeV.
Characteristics of the sector in the NSC97 potentials are discussed in
detail.Comment: 18 pages, 4 figure
THE MOTION ANALYSIS OF WALK ON RACE WALKING PLAYERS
The purpose of this study was to determine what characteristic race walking players have in their daily walking motion. The healthy four female race waking players and healthy four female university students were determined as subjects in this study. The 13m walking road was set. Each group conducted three Normal Walking trials (NW) and three Brisk Walking trials (BW). After that, the Race Walking group conducted three Race Walking trials (RW). The 3D motion analysis system (Frame Dias_ver.3.0 for windows) was used to calculate parameters. As to NW knee segment parameters, the maximum knee extension angle, range of motion and average knee angles of race walking group were significantly different from that of control group (
Atomic Carbon and CO Isotope Emission in the Vicinity of DR15
We present observations of the 3P1-3P0 fine structure transition of atomic
carbon [CI], the J=3-2 transition of CO, as well as of the J=1-0 transitions of
13CO and C18O toward DR15, an HII region associated with two mid-infrared dark
clouds (IRDCs). The 13CO and C18O J=1-0 emissions closely follow the dark
patches seen in optical wavelength, showing two self-gravitating molecular
cores with masses of 2000 Msun and 900 Msun, respectively, at the positions of
the catalogued IRDCs.
Our data show a rough spatial correlation between [CI] and 13CO J=1-0. Bright
[CI] emission occurs in relatively cold gas behind the molecular cores, neither
in highly excited gas traced by CO J=3-2 emission nor in HII region/molecular
cloud interface. These results are inconsistent with those predicted by
standard photodissociation region (PDR) models, suggesting an origin for
interstellar atomic carbon unrelated to photodissociation processes.Comment: 11 pages Latex, 6 figures, Accepted for publication in The

Nonlinear Conduction by Melting of Stripe-Type Charge Order in Organic Conductors with Triangular Lattices
We theoretically discuss the mechanism for the peculiar nonlinear conduction
in quasi-two-dimensional organic conductors \theta-(BEDT-TTF)2X
[BEDT-TTF=bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene] through the melting of
stripe-type charge order. An extended Peierls-Hubbard model attached to
metallic electrodes is investigated by a nonequilibrium Green's function
technique. A novel current-voltage characteristic appears in a coexistent state
of stripe-type and nonstripe 3-fold charge orders, where the applied bias melts
mainly the stripe-type charge order through the reduction of lattice
distortion, whereas the 3-fold charge order survives. These contrastive
responses of the two different charge orders are consistent with the
experimental observations.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, to appear in J. Phys. Soc. Jp
The Cellular Mechanism for Water Detection in the Mammalian Taste System
Initiation of drinking behavior relies on both internal state and peripheral water detection. While central neural circuits regulating thirst have been well studied, it is still unclear how mammals recognize external water. Here we show that acid-sensing taste receptor cells (TRCs) that were previously suggested as the sour taste sensors also mediate taste responses to water. Genetic silencing of these TRCs abolished water-evoked responses in taste nerves. Optogenetic self-stimulation of acid-sensing TRCs in thirsty animals induced robust drinking responses toward light even without water. This behavior was only observed when animals were water-deprived but not under food- or salt-depleted conditions, indicating that the hedonic value of water-evoked responses is highly internal-state dependent. Conversely, thirsty animals lacking functional acid-sensing TRCs showed compromised discrimination between water and nonaqueous fluids. Taken together, this study revealed a function of mammalian acid-sensing TRCs that provide a cue for external water
Feasibility of joystick guided colonoscopy
The flexible endoscope is increasingly used to perform minimal invasive interventions. A novel add-on platform allows single-person control of both endoscope and instrument at the site of intervention. The setup changes the current routine of handling the endoscope. This study aims to determine if the platform allows effective and efficient manipulation to position the endoscope at potential intervention sites throughout the bowel. Five experts in flexible endoscopy first performed three colonoscopies on a computer simulator using the conventional angulation wheels. Next they trained with the joystick interface to achieve their personal level of intubation time with low pain score. 14 PhD students (novices) without hands-on experience performed the same colonoscopy case using either the conventional angulation wheels or joystick interface. Both novice groups trained to gain the average expert level. The cecal intubation time, pain score and visualization performance (% of bowel wall) were recorded. All experts reached their personal intubation time in 6 ± 6 sessions. Three experts completed their learning curve with low pain score in 8 ± 6 sessions. The novices required 11 ± 6 sessions using conventional angulation wheels, and 12 ± 6 sessions using the joystick interface. There was no difference in the visualization performance between the novice and between the expert groups. This study shows that the add-on platform enables endoscope manipulation required to perform colonoscopy. Experts need only a relatively short training period. Novices are as effective and as efficient in endoscope manipulation when comparing the add-on platform with conventional endoscope contro
