Equivalent models for gauged WZW theory

We modify the SL(2,R)/U(1)SL(2,{\bf R})/U(1) WZW theory, which was shown to describe strings in a 2D black hole, to be invariant under chiral U(1)U(1) gauge symmetry by introducing a Steukelberg field. We impose several interesting gauge conditions for the chiral U(1)U(1) symmetry. In a paticular gauge the theory is found to be reduced to the Liouville theory coupled to the c=1c=1 matter perturbed by the so-called black hole mass operator. Also we discuss the physical states in the models briefly.Comment: 13pages, KANAZAWA 93-0

Separate-type scanner and wideband high-voltage amplifier for atomic-resolution and high-speed atomic force microscopy

We have developed a liquid-environment atomic force microscope with a wideband and low-noise scanning system for atomic-scale imaging of dynamic processes at solid/liquid interfaces. The developed scanning system consists of a separate-type scanner and a wideband high-voltage amplifier (HVA). By separating an XY-sample scanner from a Z-tip scanner, we have enabled to use a relatively large sample without compromising the high resonance frequency. We compared various cantilever- and sample-holding mechanisms by experiments and finite element analyses for optimizing the balance between the usability and frequency response characteristics. We specifically designed the HVA to drive the developed scanners, which enabled to achieve the positioning accuracy of 5.7 and 0.53 pm in the XY and Z axes, respectively. Such an excellent noise performance allowed us to perform atomic-resolution imaging of mica and calcite in liquid. Furthermore, we demonstrate in situ and atomic-resolution imaging of the calcite crystal growth process in water. © 2013 AIP Publishing LLC

Neutron Electric Dipole Moment under Non-Universal Soft SUSY Breaking Terms

金沢大学理工研究域数物科学系The electric dipole moment of the neutron (EDMN) is re·examined in the framework of non-universal soft supersymmetry breaking. We review some features of the relation between the EDMN and non-universal soft supersymmetry breaking terms. It is shown that the constraints on the soft scalar masses and soft CP phases have a rather strong dependence on the non·universality of soft breaking terms. We also show that the soft CP phase if>s which has no natural suppressionmechanism may not contribute significantly to the EDMN in a certain parameter region where the radiative symmetry breaking occurs successfully. If this is the case, if>s may not need to be so small

Non-universal soft scalar masses in superstring theories

金沢大学理工研究域数物科学系We study soft scalar masses in comparison with gaugino masses in 4-dimensional string models. In general non-universal soft masses are derived in orbifold models. We give conditions on modular weights which lead to a large non-degeneracy in the soft scalar mass spectrum. This non-universality is applied to the unification of gauge coupling constants in the minimal string model. © 1995

Qualitative investigation of the factors that generate ambivalent feelings in women who give birth after receiving negative results from non-invasive prenatal testing

Background: Women who receive negative results from non-invasive prenatal genetic testing (NIPT) may find that they later have mixed or ambivalent feelings, for example, feelings of accepting NIPT and regretting undergoing the test. This study aimed to investigate the factors generating ambivalent feelings among women who gave birth after having received negative results from NIPT. Methods: A questionnaire was sent to women who received a negative NIPT result, and a contents analysis was conducted focusing on ambivalent expressions for those 1562 women who responded the questionnaire. The qualitative data gathered from the questionnaire were analyzed using the N-Vivo software package. Results: Environmental factors, genetic counseling-related factors, and increased anticipatory anxiety, affected the feeling of ambivalence among pregnant women. Furthermore, pregnant women desired more information regarding the detailed prognosis for individuals with Down syndrome and living with them and/or termination, assuming the possibility that they were positive. Conclusions: Three major interrelated factors affected the feeling of ambivalence in women. Highlighting and discussing such factors during genetic counseling may resolve some of these ambivalences, thereby enhancing the quality of decisions made by pregnant women
