Characterization of foreign exchange market using the threshold-dealer-model

    Get PDF
We introduce a deterministic dealer model which implements most of the empirical laws, such as fat tails in the price change distributions, long term memory of volatility and non-Poissonian intervals. We also clarify the causality between microscopic dealers' dynamics and macroscopic market's empirical laws.Comment: 10pages, 5figures, 1table, Proceedings of APFA

The purposes of this study were; (1) to examine the self-efficacy of ICU nursing, and (2) to clear the factors related to the self-efficacy of ICU nursing, (3) to investigate between the self-efficacy of ICU nursing and the self-efficacy of leadership for 15 nurses who had experience more than 3 years in the ICU section. Subjects were 45 ICU working nurses whose average age was 27.8±5.0. Using originally designed scales of self-efficacy of ICU nursing and the self-efficacy of leadership, we found following results; (1) the self-efficacy of ICU nursing was significantly related to age (r(s)=0.35, p<0.05), duration of experience as a nurse (r(s)=0.35, p<0.05) and that of ICU (r(s)=0.56, p<0.01). (2) there were no significant relation between the self-efficacy of ICU nursing and desire to be ICU nurse, job satisfaction and belief in positive effect of her nursing care for patient's recovery. (3) the self-efficacy of ICU nursing didn't have significant relationship to the self-efficacy of leadership

    Proteome analysis for rat saliva

Proteome analysis is a popular method to discover biomarkers for the prevention and diagnosis of diseases. Since saliva is a non-invasively available body fluid, gathering of saliva causes minimal harm to patients. Therefore, detection of proteins for the prevention and diagnosis from the saliva sample may be the preferred method, especially for children and elderly people. However, the abundance of salivary proteins and contaminant proteins from food and mouth bacteria obscure identification of proteins present in the saliva at low concentrations. To address this problem, we developed a shotgun proteomic method using two-dimensional nano-flow LC tandem mass spectrometry. We report here that our method is able to detect proteins quantitatively even in small sample volumes of saliva

Evaluation of the tetrodotoxin uptake ability of pufferfish Takifugu rubripes tissues according to age using an in vitro tissue slice incubation method

The tetrodotoxin (TTX) uptake ability of pufferfish Takifugu rubripes tissues and its growth-associated changes were investigated using an in vitro tissue slice incubation method. Tissue slices prepared from the liver, skin, and intestine of a non-toxic cultured adult T. rubripes (20 months old) and incubated with incubation buffer containing 25 μg/mL TTX for 1?48 h showed a time-dependent increase in the TTX content in all tissues. The TTX contents of the skin and intestine slices were comparable to or slightly higher than that of the liver slices, with a similar transition pattern, suggesting similar TTX uptake ability among the skin, intestine, and liver. The TTX uptake ability of the liver and intestine did not differ significantly between young (8 months old) and adult (20 months old) fish, but the skin slices of young fish took up approximately twice as much TTX as that of adult fish, suggesting that the TTX uptake ability of the skin is involved in the growth-dependent changes in the toxin distribution inside the body in T. rubripes. To estimate the TTX uptake pathway in each tissue, an immunohistochemical technique was used to observe temporal changes in the intra-tissue microdistribution of TTX during incubation. The findings suggested that TTX is transferred and accumulates from pancreatic exocrine cells to hepatic parenchymal cells in the liver, from connective tissues to basal cells in the skin, and from villi epithelial cells via the lamina propria to the muscle layer in the intestine

Fundamental absorption frequencies and mean structures at vibrational ground state from quasi-classical direct ab initio MD: Triatomic molecule

    Get PDF
The fundamental frequencies and the mean values of the internal coordinates are extracted from the trajectories of classical dynamics based on the relation between the classical and the quantum mechanical frequencies using quasi-classical direct ab initio molecular dynamics, where the oscillator amplitude is specified by setting the total energy equal to the harmonic vibrational energy. This method is applied to a triatomic molecule H2O. The harmonic frequencies, the fundamental absorption frequencies, and the mean structures are obtained in good agreement with experimentally observed values with the theoretical level of MP2 using the aug-cc-pVTZ basis set
