Knowledge Management (KM) is a vital aspect for any organization to stay competitive in global market. Most of the organizations around the world, have invested heavily for the purpose of developing a proper knowledge management system. It is unfortunate, that many organizations in different countries have not focused much on KM and its application, this was revealed based on the review conducted, in particular, the investigation on the Higher Learning Institutions (HLIs), especially in Malaysia, uncovered the failure or poor focus of KM system (KMS) due to various reasons. This paper however utilized an approach that could enhance the overall KM practice in the HLI domain, as it is believed user satisfactions and KMS success are correlated, therefore, this paper utilized co-creation as new recipe through which acquiring users values and needs towards the KMS. Following the steps of co-creation method had resulted set of attributes and features that forms the users values towards a KMS. As such, the obtained values originated to set of key roots forms the basic concepts to be utilized and enabled while developing the KMS. Based on the results obtained, the design and development of KMS application within HLI’s in general and in Malaysian HLIs particularly could be achieved. Current state of the art of typical search engines like Google, Yahoo and others are delivering references in terms of web URL or links to the related website. As such the results did not deliver the right answers required to the users needs. In addition to that as soon as the users require a collection of the information obtained, these search engines failed to do so resulting in the human intervention in-combining the information from several sources. Due ot the advancement and the vast number of sites and information on the web, demands in providing higher precision results are required to aid users in obtaining the most relevant result to the search process. One of the promising areas of the Semantic Web is enhancing the query capabilities for information. Small vertical vocabularies and ontologies have emerged, and the community of people using these and generating data is growing daily. However queries or search mechanisms that utilizea the vasrt amount of vocabularies, ontologies and data in digital libraries is still very much lacking. Therefore searching over heteregoneous records, data in digital library community or the Web has become a well known problem to the mass public. As such a solution is needed for a federated search across multiple resources available. However it remains unclear on how Semantic Web or its technology is used in constructing a digital library system or aid in enhancing the quality of the search results performed. This leads to the current work proposed, as work will be conducted to provide possible components that will construct the semantic web portal. The work performed is essential to facilitate semantic searches for research community in large-scale distributed digital library system. The subject research community is chosen particularly to aid in ensuring hat result obtained are accordingly to the users relevant needs. The expected outcomes of the research are an architecture that utilizes the semantic technology that will promote semantic web portal in the digital library and a semantic search mechanism that will provide better results and a combination of useful results relevant to the users

Social content is important for successful innovation of services. To successfully leverage the value of social content, they need to be properly managed. To achieve this, factors that contribute to social content management must be identified and subsequently validated. In this article, eleven factors that impact upon social content management are highlighted. Taking into consideration the fact that social content management is still an evolving field of study, validation of these factors was done by employing the Delphi technique. Research had indicated that there are several different versions of the Delphi technique, and some researchers have criticized the method as non-rigorous. Thus, in this paper, it is highlighted that this issue could be tackled if the questionnaire instrument used to assess the expert’s opinion is developed by adhering to a rigid protocol. Embedded in this rigid protocol, are two measures of validity used which are the content validity ratio (CVR), and the mean of CVR, namely the content validity index (CVi). A total of 86 items are submitted for evaluation and based on the CVR value and comments from the content evaluation panel members, all items are acceptable, with minimal adjustments. The CVi measure returned a value of 0.99, which shows that the factors and the whole questionnaire are accepted. The questionnaire with the validated content could be used as an instrument to validate the factors that are affecting the management of social content. It is hoped that the factors would assist the organization in managing the social content effectively

Developing the Dimensions of a Social Content Management Framework

The rise of social media has transformed the way of collaboration between organisations and customers. Social content resulting from the active collaboration between both parties on a social media platform should be managed accordingly. Thus, a social content management (SCM) framework should be developed as a guide to manage the social content. Such SCM framework should be able to augment existing frameworks, which mainly focuses on the value of social content for the organisations. Hence, based on the service science perspective, this article proposes a SCM framework that focusses on value to both organisations and its customers. In order to do this, the concept of  Service Dominant Logic and the DART model are adopted to explore and extract the elements and factors that collectively become the dimensions of the proposed SCM framework. Experts’ review of the elements and factors is conducted to ensure that the dimensions in the SCM framework are acceptable and have practical value. The proposed framework is then validated via an instrument whose content validity is investigated by using Lawshe’s Technique. This framework could assist the organisations in decision-making process towards innovating services and in the management of social content

One way overcome the weakness of semantic web to make it more user friendly is by displaying, browsing and semantically query data. In this research, we propose Semantic Web Research Community Portal at Faculty of Information Science and Technology – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (FTSM RC) as the lightest platform of Semantic Web. This platform assists the users in managing the content and making visualization of relevant semantic data by applying meaningful periodically research. In such a way it will strengthen the research information related to research, publications, departments, organizations, events, and groups of researchers. Moreover, it will streamline the issuance process, making it easier for academic staff, support staff, and faculty itself to publish information of faculty and studies research information. By the end, this will provide end users with a better view of the structure of research at the university, allowing users to conduct cross-communication between faculty and study groups by using the search information

    Get PDF
Today, organisations are resorting to social networks to engage with customers. These social media interactions result in social content, which, if well-managed, can lead to innovative improvements in the value offerings of the organisations. Thus, a proper social content management framework needs to be in place. However, there is a limited study in the concepts of social content and social content management. Based on literature review, this article articulates the components of the social content management framework and its building blocks based on the service science approach. The Delphi technique is used to validate the framework, which involved obtaining consensus among the experts by using a set of questionnaire. There are three components that are being validated, namely, factors that affect social content management, the definitions of social content and social content management, and the framework as a whole. It is hoped that the framework will be useful for researchers and practitioners in the field of social content management
