Bio-Based Epoxy Resin from Epoxidized Soybean Oil

    Get PDF
Epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) is the oxidation product of soybean oil with hydrogen peroxide and either acetic or formic acid obtained by converting the double bonds into epoxy groups, which is non-toxic and of higher chemical reactivity. ESO is mainly used as a green plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride, while the reactive epoxy groups imply its great potential in both the monomer synthesis and the polymer preparation fields. Functional polymers are obtained by different kinds of reactions of the ESO with co-monomers and/or initiators shown in this chapter. The emphasis is on ESO based epoxy cross-linked polymers which recently gained strong interest and allowed new developments especially from both an academic point of view and an industrial point of view. It is believed that new ring-opening reagents may facilitate the synthesis of good structural ESO based materials

Modeling and Analysis of Train Rear-End Collision Accidents Based on Stochastic Petri Nets

    Get PDF
We proposed a model of the train rear-end collision accidents based on stochastic Petri nets (SPN) theory. By isomorphic Markov chain model of the proposed accident model, we provide the quantitative analysis of the train rear-end collision accidents. Fuzzy random method is also applied to analyze the performance of the proposed model. In addition, according to the data extracted from a large amount of historical data of the accident statistics, we present a case analysis and discussion. It showed that the results of the proposed train rear-end accident model based on SPN are reasonable in practical applications and can be used to effectively analyze the accidents and prevent loss, and the results may be a reference to the department of railway safety management

    Get PDF
149 elementary school pupils were selected as the subjects for this study, to whom five tracking assessments of their verbal vocabulary knowledge were given over a period of three years. In addition, a latent variable growth model was adopted to explore grades 1-3 elementary school pupil’s developmental trajectory for verbal Chinese vocabulary knowledge. The phonological awareness, homomorphic morpheme awareness, compound morpheme awareness and family socioeconomic status (SES) on the students’ verbal vocabulary knowledge were also investigated. The ndings are: 1, grades 1-3 elementary school pupils verbal Chinese vocabulary knowledge developmental trajectory shows a curvilinear form, of which linear development is trended in the first two years, and as of the third year the developmental rate doubles the previous two years, whereas individual di erences are remarkable in both the initial level and the growth rate; 2, awareness of phonetics, homomorphic morphemes and complex morphemes as well as the family socioeconomic status can be referred to for a positive forecast of the students’ initial level of verbal vocabulary knowledge; 3, only the awareness of homomorphic morphemes and the family socioeconomic status can be applied to a positive prediction of the students’ verbal vocabulary knowledge growth rate.

Index matching between passive and active tellurite glasses for use in microstructured fiber lasers: Erbium doped lanthanum-tellurite glass

    Get PDF
Active and passive variants of La-containing tellurite glasses have been developed with matched refractive indices. The consequences of adding lanthanum to the glass was studied through measurements of the crystallization stability, glass viscosity and the loss of unstructured fibers. Doping the glass with erbium allowed for any spectroscopic changes to be observed through measurements of the absorption and energy level lifetimes. The fluorescence emission spectra were measured at 1.5 microm and, to the best of our knowledge, for the first time in tellurite glass at 2.7 microm.Michael R. Background: As a new drug delivery and embolization system, drug-eluted bronchial artery chemoembolization (DEB-BACE) can not only embolize the tumor blood supply artery but also load chemotherapy drugs and slowly release them into the local environment. Bevacizumab (BEV) combined with chemotherapy drugs has attained significant achievements in the first-line treatment of advanced non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The role of BEV-loaded DEB-BACE combined with immunotherapy and targeted therapy in patients with lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is unclear. This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of bevacizumab-loaded CalliSpheres® bronchial arterial chemoembolization combined with immunotherapy and targeted therapy in patients with lung adenocarcinoma. Methods: Nine patients with LUAD who received BEV-loaded CalliSpheres® BACE combined with immunotherapy and targeted therapy from 1 Jan 2021 to Dec 2021 were included in this study. The primary endpoint was the disease control rate (DCR) and the objective response rate (ORR). The secondary endpoints were the overall survival rates (OS) at 6 months and 12 months. The tumor response was evaluated according to the mRECIST standard. Safety was assessed by the occurrences of adverse events and the severity of the adverse events. Results: All patients received CalliSpheres® BACE loaded with BEV (200 mg) in combination with immunotherapy and targeted therapy. A total of nine patients received the BACE procedures 20 times, four of them received a third session of BACE, three underwent a second session of DEB-BACE, and two underwent one cycle of DEB-BACE. Partial response and stable disease were found in seven (77.8%), and two (22.2%) patients, respectively, 1 month after the last multimodal treatment. The ORR at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months was 77.8%, 66.7%, 44.4%, and 33.3%, respectively, while the DCR was 100%, 77.8%, 44.4%, and 33.3%, respectively. The OS rates at 6-and 12-month were 77.8% and 66.7%, respectively. There were no serious adverse events. Conclusion: BEV-loaded CalliSpheres® transcatheter bronchial arterial chemoembolization combined with immunotherapy and targeted therapy is a promising and well-tolerated treatment for patients with lung adenocarcinoma

Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization combined with apatinib and camrelizumab for unresectable advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction cancer: a single-arm, single-center, retrospective study

    Get PDF
PurposeThis study aims to investigate the efficacy and safety of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with Apatinib and Camrelizumab for treating unresectable advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction (G/GEJ) cancer.Material and methodsIn this study, data of patients with unresectable advanced G/GEJ cancer who received TACE combined with Apatinib and Camrelizumab from August 2018 to December 2021 was evaluated. After TACE, patients were given intravenous Camrelizumab 200mg every three weeks and oral apatinib 250mg/day for treatment. The primary endpoint was overall survival (OS), and the secondary endpoints were objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), and adverse events (AEs).ResultsA total of 49 patients were enrolled in this study. The median follow-up time was 14.0 months, and the median OS was 20.0 months (95% CI = 13.6-26.4). Two patients (4.08%) achieved complete remission, 28 patients (57.14%) achieved partial remission, 18 patients (36.73%) had stable disease, and 1 patient (2.04%) had disease progression. The ORR was 61.22%, and the DCR was 97.96%. Multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated that age (HR 4.74, 95% CI = 1.674-13.440, P=0.003) and multiple distant metastases (HR 20.916, 95% CI = 4.094-106.808, P = 0.001) were independent risk factors for OS. Most AEs were classified as grade 1-2, the most common being RCCEP (69.39%). There were 5 cases of grade 3-4 adverse events (10.20%). No patients discontinued or reduced the treatment dose due to AEs, and all patients received symptomatic treatment.ConclusionTACE combined with Apatinib and Camrelizumab is a safe and effective therapeutic option for patients with unresectable advanced G/GEJ cancer, which can significantly improve the median OS and ORR of patients. And the adverse events (AEs) are tolerable and manageable

Sulfonated microporous polymer membranes with fast and selective ion transport for electrochemical energy conversion and storage

    Get PDF
Membranes with fast and selective transport of protons and cations are required for a wide range of electrochemical energy conversion and storage devices, such as proton-exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells and redox flow batteries. Here we report a new approach to designing solution-processable ion-selective polymer membranes with both intrinsic microporosity and ion-conductive functionality. This was achieved by synthesizing polymers with rigid and contorted backbones, which incorporate hydrophobic fluorinated and hydrophilic sulfonic acid functional groups, to produce membranes with negatively-charged subnanometer-sized confined ionic channels. The facilitated transport of protons and cations through these membranes, as well as high selectivity towards nanometer-sized redox-active molecules, enable efficient and stable operation of an aqueous alkaline quinone redox flow battery and a hydrogen PEM fuel cell. This membrane design strategy paves the way for producing a new-generation of ion-exchange membranes for electrochemical energy conversion and storage applications
