    Transport and Magnetic Properties of FexVse2 (x = 0 - 0.33)

    We present our results of the effect of Fe intercalation on the structural, transport and magnetic properties of 1T-VSe2. Intercalation of iron, suppresses the 110K charge density wave (CDW) transition of the 1T-VSe2. For the higher concentration of iron, formation of a new kind of first order transition at 160K takes place, which go on stronger for the 33% Fe intercalation. Thermopower of the FexVSe2 compounds (x = 0 - 0.33), however do not show any anomaly around the transition. The intercalation of Fe does not trigger any magnetism in the weak paramagnetic 1T-VSe2, and Fe is the low spin state of Fe3+.Comment: 7 pages, 8 figures, 2 table

    Suspensions may be defined as preparations containing finely divided drug particles (the suspensoid) distributed somewhat uniformly throughout a vehicle with or without stabilizers and other additives in which drug exhibits a minimum degree of solubility hence conventional oral suspension can be administered immediately (ready to use form) and not requiring reconstitution at the time of dispensing are simply designated as “Oral Suspension”. There is an important category of suspension that are available as dry powders intended for suspension in liquid vehicles. These are dry mixtures containing the drug and suitable suspending and dispersing agents to be diluted and agitated with a specific quantity of vehicle, most often purified water. Drugs that are instable if maintained for extended periods in the presence of aqueous vehicle (eg., many antibiotic drugs) are frequently supplied as dry powder mixtures for reconstitution at the time of dispensing. This type of preparation is designated in the USP by a title “for Oral Suspension”. The reconstituted system is the formulation of choice when the drug stability is a major concern. After reconstitution, these systems have a short but acceptable life if stored at refrigerator temperatures. Reconstitutable oral systems show the adequate chemical stability of the drug during shelf life, avoids the physical stability problems related to solubility, pH and incompatibilities with other ingredients and also reduce the weight of the final product because the aqueous vehicle is absent and consequently the transportation expenses may be reduced. Dry syrup form of the drug is also useful in case of bioavailability as it has high bioavailability rather than tablets and capsules as it disintegrates in water outside of the oral cavity and directly the suspension is gone through the gastrointestinal tract. So the suspension easily absorbs in the GIT. A number of commercial and official preparations are available as dry powder mixtures.     Thermoelectric response of Fe1+y_{1+y}Te0.6_{0.6}Se0.4_{0.4}: evidence for strong correlation and low carrier density

    We present a study of the Seebeck and Nernst coefficients of Fe1+y_{1+y}Te1−x_{1-x}Sex_{x} extended up to 28 T. The large magnitude of the Seebeck coefficient in the optimally doped sample tracks a remarkably low normalized Fermi temperature, which, like other correlated superconductors, is only one order of magnitude larger than Tc_c. We combine our data with other experimentally measured coefficients of the system to extract a set of self-consistent parameters, which identify Fe1+y_{1+y}Te0.6_{0.6}Se0.4_{0.4} as a low-density correlated superconductor barely in the clean limit. The system is subject to strong superconducting fluctuations with a sizeable vortex Nernst signal in a wide temperature window.Comment: 4 pages including 4 figure

    DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT AND CHARACTERIZATION OF MUCOADHESIVE GASTRO SPHERES OF CARVEDILOL

    Objective: The purpose of this study was to design mucoadhesive gastro spheres of carvedilol targeting to upper GIT, and optimize it in terms of its entrapment efficiency and drug release. A 32 full factorial design was employed to study the effect of independent variables like sodium alginate and sodium carboxyl methyl cellulose on entrapment efficiency and in vitro drug release. Methods: Mucoadhesive gastro spheres were prepared by Orifice-Ionic gelation method, in which drug is uniformly distributed in the polymer solution so drug can be loaded easily in the polymer.32 full factorial designs were used to study the effect of process variables on formulation characteristics by applying statistical analysis. Results: FTIR, XRD and DSC analyses apparently did not indicate any interaction of the drug with the polymers. However, the drug content, drug entrapment efficiency and morphology of the gastro spheres were found to be influenced by the method of preparation, composition of gastro spheres as well as exposure to the cross linking agent. In vitro drug release study showed that drug release can be modified by varying drug to polymer ratio. The release rate was found to be decreased in accordance with the increase in the ratio of polymer used. Conclusion: From the study, we successfully developed carvedilol gastro spheres by using mucoadhesive polymer like SCMC and rate retardant sodium alginate polymer

    Plant growth promoting strain Bacillus cereus (RCS-4 MZ520573.1) enhances phytoremediation potential of Cynodon dactylon L. in distillery sludge

    Elevated levels of physico-chemical pollution including organic pollutants, metals and metalloids were detected in distillery sludges despite of the anaerobic digestion treatment prior to disposal. The concentrations of the metals were (in mg kg−1): Fe (400.98 ± 3.11), Zn (17.21 ± 0.54), Mn (8.32 ± 0.42), Ni (8.00 ± 0.98), Pb (5.09 ± 0.43), Cr (4.00 ± 0.98), and Cu (3.00 ± 0.10). An invasive grass species, Cynodon dactylon L., demonstrated its ability to remediate the distillery waste sludge (DWS) in the field study. All the physico-chemical parameters of the sludge significantly improved (up to 70–75%) in the presence of Cynodon dactylon L. (p < 0.001) than the control with no plant growth. The highest phytoremediation capacity was associated with the uptake of Fe in the root and shoot. Sludge samples collected near the rhizosphere also showed lower amount of organic compounds compared to control sludge samples. Metal resistant Bacillus cereus (RCS-4 MZ520573.1) was isolated from the rhizosphere of Cynodon dactylon L. and showed potential to enhance the process of phytoremediation via plant growth promoting activities such as production of high level of ligninolytic enzymes: manganese peroxidase (35.98 U), lignin peroxidase (23.98 U) and laccase (12.78 U), indole acetic acid (45.87(mgL−1), phosphatase activity (25.76 mg L−1) and siderophore production (23.09 mg L−1). This study presents information on the performance of Cynodon dactylon L., an abundant invasive perennial grass species and its associated plant growth promoting rhizobacteria demonstrated good capacity to remediate and restore contaminated soil contained complex organic and inorganic pollutants, they could be integrated into the disposal system of distillery sludge to improve the treatment efficiency

    Mass function and dynamical study of the open clusters Berkeley 24 and Czernik 27

    We present a UBVIUBVI photometric study of the open clusters Berkeley 24 (Be 24) and Czernik 27 (Cz 27). The radii of the clusters are determined as 2\farcm7 and 2\farcm3 for Be 24 and Cz 27, respectively. We use the Gaia Data Release 2 (GDR2) catalogue to estimate the mean proper motions for the clusters. We found the mean proper motion of Be 24 as 0.35±0.060.35\pm0.06 mas yr−1^{-1} and 1.20±0.081.20\pm0.08 mas yr−1^{-1} in right ascension and declination for Be 24 and −0.52±0.05-0.52\pm0.05 mas yr−1^{-1} and −1.30±0.05-1.30\pm0.05 mas yr−1^{-1} for Cz 27. We used probable cluster members selected from proper motion data for the estimation of fundamental parameters. We infer reddenings E(B−V)E(B-V) = 0.45±0.050.45\pm0.05 mag and 0.15±0.050.15\pm0.05 mag for the two clusters. Analysis of extinction curves towards the two clusters show that both have normal interstellar extinction laws in the optical as well as in the near-IR band. From the ultraviolet excess measurement, we derive metallicities of [Fe/H]= −0.025±0.01-0.025\pm0.01 dex and −0.042±0.01-0.042\pm0.01 dex for the clusters Be 24 and Cz 27, respectively. The distances, as determined from main sequence fitting, are 4.4±0.54.4\pm0.5 kpc and 5.6±0.25.6\pm0.2 kpc. The comparison of observed CMDs with Z=0.01Z=0.01 isochrones, leads to an age of 2.0±0.22.0\pm0.2 Gyr and 0.6±0.10.6\pm0.1 Gyr for Be 24 and Cz 27, respectively. In addition to this, we have also studied the mass function and dynamical state of these two clusters for the first time using probable cluster members. The mass function is derived after including the corrections for data incompleteness and field star contamination.     IR, far-IR and Raman spectra of 2-thiouracil are reported and interpreted. All the thirty normal modes could be assigned. The Raman spectrum and the vibrational assignments for all the thirty modes are reported for the first time. The ring breathing and Kekule stretching modes for 2-thiouracil are observed to have lower magnitudes when compared to those for uracil which could be due to the mass effect of the sulphur atom in place of the oxygen atom
