Adaptive frequency sweep analysis for electromagnetic problems using the Thiele interpolating continued fractions
A direct rational approximation method based on Thiele interpolating continued fractions theory is proposed for fast frequency sweep analysis of electromagnetic problems. And an adaptive algorithm is also formed. Compared with the conventional rational approximation method, the proposed method can get a rational approximation directly without a great number of matrix inverse computations and doesn't need to allocate much memory for high derivatives of the dense impedance matrix. Meanwhile, the computation of surface currents by continued fractions can be sped up as compared with the traditional rational approximation. Numerical simulations for broad band scattering analysis of different shaped objects are discussed to shown the effectiveness of the present method. © 2010 IEEE.published_or_final_versionThe 2nd International Conference on Education Technology and Computer (ICETC 2010), Shanghai, China, 22-24 June 2010. Decentralized P2P power trading mechanism for dynamic multi-energy microgrid groups based on priority matching
In order to promote the interaction among interconnected microgrids (MGs) with multiply distributed energy resources (DERs) to local energy utilization, a decentralized peer-to-peer (P2P) power trading mechanism based on priority matching is proposed. The priority indices are calculated based on scheduling results and quotations by an independent MG operator (IMO), which protect effectively the privacy and represent the bargaining willingness of MGs. According to the supply-demand ratio within a matching pair, each MG is permitted to update its quotation multi-times until the convergence or updated number limitation is reached. The clearing price of each pair is calculated by the mid-market rate (MMR) method. Because the imbalanced power is different with the autonomous scheduling in a MG at different dispatching time, the different power requirements of MGs results in the formation of the dynamic MG groups. The simulation results in an interconnected multi-microgrid system (IMMGS) with 4 MGs show the proposed decentralized P2P mechanism is reasonable and effective. (C) 2022 Published by Elsevier Ltd
Effects of a Chinese Medicinal Plant Radix Astragali on the Ovariectomized Female Rats
Perimenopausal syndrome occurs during the transition to menopause. Complementary and alternative medicine, especially Chinese medicinal plants, has manifested significant effects in alleviating perimenopausal symptoms. However, little research has been focused on the effects of Chinese medicinal plant on the immune function of the perimenopausal women. The present study aimed to explore the effects of Radix Astragali (RA) on the sex hormone levels and the interleukins of the ovariectomized female rats. 24 female Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into model control group (MOD group), sham-operation group (SHAM group), RA group and estrogen group (EST group). After all the treatment ended, the serum levels of estradiol (E2), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), interleukin-2 (IL-2), and interleukin-8 (IL-8) were measured using enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay (ELISA) and the uterus was removed and weighed after blood exsanguinations immediately. In the MOD group, the serum levels of E2 were significantly lower, and the serum levels of FSH and LH were markedly higher than those of the RA group, EST group and SHAM group (P<0.05). In the RA group, the serum levels of E2 were significantly lower, and the serum levels of FSH were markedly higher than those of the SHAM group and EST group, respectively. In the MOD group, the serum levels of IL-2 and IL-8 were significantly lower than those of the RA group, EST group and SHAM group (P<0.05), and no marked differences existed among RA group, EST group and SHAM group in the serum levels of IL-2 and IL-8 (P>0.05). The uterine weight of the rats in the RA group, EST group and SHAM group were significantly higher than those of the rats in MOD group (P<0.05). There were no marked differences among the rats from RA group, EST group and SHAM group on the uterine weight (P>0.05). It is concluded that RA can significantly improve the immune functions of the ovariectomized female rats, although it cannot change the sex hormones levels as significantly as estrogen
Biocompatible FeOOH-Carbon quantum dots nanocomposites for gaseousNOx removal under visible light: Improved charge separation and Highselectivity
Development of biocompatible photocatalysts with improved charge separation and high selectivity is essential for effective removal of air pollutants. Iron-containing catalysts have attracted extensive attention due to their low-toxicity and high natural abundance. Here, carbon quantum dots (CQDs) modified FeOOH nanocomposites fabricated using a facile hydrothermal route showed enhanced NO removal efficiency (22%) compared to pure FeOOH. Moreover, generation of toxic NO2 intermediates was significantly inhibited using the nanocomposites, demonstrating high selectivity for final nitrate formation. Photo-electrochemical results showed that both charge separation and transfer efficiency were significantly improved by CQDs addition, and the lifetime of photo-generated carriers was increased eventually. Density functional theory calculations further elucidated that the suppressed recombination of photo-induced electron-hole pairs was due to enhanced electron migration from the FeOOH to CQDs. A NO degradation mechanism was proposed based on detection of the reactive oxygen species using electron paramagnetic spectroscopy. In addition, the nanocomposite showed good biocompatibility and low cytotoxity, ensuring minimal environmental impact for potential application in large-scale.</span

Male germ cell-specific protein Trs4 binds to multiple proteins
Temperature-related sequence 4 (Trs4) has been identified as a testis-specific gene with expression sensitive to the abdominal temperature changes induced by artificial cryptorchidism. In murine testes, Trs4 mRNA was detected in round spermatids and its protein was localized mainly in the elongating spermatids as well as in the acrosomes and tails of mature spermatozoa. Using a yeast two-hybrid screening system, we identified Rshl-2, Gstmu1, and Ddc8 as putative binding partners of the Trs4 protein in mouse testes. Their interactions were confirmed by in vivo and in vitro binding assays. Further studies demonstrated that Ddc8, a newly identified gene with unknown functions, displayed a similar expression pattern with Trs4 in mouse testes. In particular, Trs4, Ddc8, and Rshl-2 proteins were co-localized to the tails of mature spermatozoa. These results suggested that Trs4 might be involved in diverse processes of spermiogenesis and/or fertilization through interactions with its multiple binding partners. © 2009 Elsevier Inc.postprin
Oxidative stress-dependent cyclooxygenase-2-derived prostaglandin F2α impairs endothelial function in renovascular hypertensive rats
Abstract Aims: The role of endothelium-derived contracting factors (EDCFs) in regulating renovascular function is yet to be elucidated in renovascular hypertension (RH). The current study investigated whether oxidative stress-dependent cyclooxygenase (COX)-2-derived prostaglandin F(2alpha) (PGF(2alpha)) impairs endothelial function in renal arteries of renovascular hypertensive rats (RHR). Results: Renal hypertension was induced in rats by renal artery stenosis of both kidneys using the 2-kidney 2-clip model. Acute treatment with reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavengers, COX-2 inhibitors, and thromboxane-prostanoid receptor antagonists, but not COX-1 inhibitors, improved endothelium-dependent relaxations and eliminated endothelium-dependent contractions in RHR renal arteries. Five weeks of treatment with celecoxib or tempol reduced blood pressure, increased renal blood flow, and restored endothelial function in RHRs. Increased ROS production in RHR arteries was inhibited by ROS scavengers, but unaffected by COX-2 inhibitors; whereas increased PGF(2alpha) release was reduced by both ROS scavengers and COX-2 inhibitors. ROS also induced COX-2-dependent contraction in RHR renal arteries, which was accompanied by the release of COX-2-derived PGF(2alpha). Further, chronic tempol treatment reduced COX-2 and BMP4 upregulation, p38MAPK phosphorylation, and the nitrotyrosine level in RHR renal arteries. Conclusion: These findings demonstrate the functional importance of oxidative stress, which serves as an initiator of increased COX-2 activity, and that COX-2-derived PGF(2alpha) plays an important role in mediating endothelial dysfunction in RH. Innovation: The current study, thus, suggests that drugs targeting oxidative stress-dependent COX-2-derived PGF(2alpha) may be useful in the prevention and management of RH. Antioxid. In Situ Synthesis of Reduced Graphene Oxide and Gold Nanocomposites for Nanoelectronics and Biosensing
In this study, an in situ chemical synthesis approach has been developed to prepare graphene–Au nanocomposites from chemically reduced graphene oxide (rGO) in aqueous media. UV–Vis absorption, atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy were used to demonstrate the successful attachment of Au nanoparticles to graphene sheets. Configured as field-effect transistors (FETs), the as-synthesized single-layered rGO-Au nanocomposites exhibit higher hole mobility and conductance when compared to the rGO sheets, promising its applications in nanoelectronics. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the rGO-Au FETs are able to label-freely detect DNA hybridization with high sensitivity, indicating its potentials in nanoelectronic biosensing
