Phytoplankton community of Poyrazlar and Taskisi lakes, Adapazari, Turkey
Phytoplankton community of two small lakes (Poyrazlar and Taskisi) were investigated between September 1998 and August 1999. A total of 57 taxa from the Poyrazlar and 64 taxa from the Taskisi lakes were recorded. As a whole, members of Bacillariophyceae dominated the phytoplankton community of two lakes. Aulacoseira granulata (Ehr.) Simonsen, Navicula gracilis Ehr., Stauroneis anceps Ehr., Cryptomonas erosa Ehr., Anabaena affinis Lemm. and Spirogyra sp. from the Poyrazlar lake, and Cyclotella ocellata Pant., Aulacoseira italica (Ehr.) Simonsen, Cymbella ventricosa Kutz., Nitzschia acicularis W. Smith, Synedra acus Kutz., S. ulna (Nitzch.) Kutz., Scenedesmus quadricauda (Turp.) Breb., Coelastrum microporum Naegeli., Cryptomonas erosa Ehr. and C. ovata Ehr., Euglena acus Ehr. from the Taskisi lake were the most abundant species. According to their phytoplankton biomass and physico-chemical features, lake Poyrazlar and Taskisi are classifiable as oligotrophic and eutrophic, respectively
