The Coincidence Problem in Holographic f(R) Gravity
It is well-known that gravity models formulated in Einstein conformal
frame are equivalent to Einstein gravity together with a minimally coupled
scalar field. In this case, the scalar field couples with the matter sector and
the coupling term is given by the conformal factor. We apply the holographic
principle to such interacting models. In a spatially flat universe, we show
that the Einstein frame representation of models leads to a constant
ratio of energy densities of dark matter to dark energy.Comment: 10 pages, no figure
Beneficiation of some Egyptian Glass Sands
The attrition-scrubbing of some Egyptian glass sands was necessary for the disintegration of the ferruginous clayey coating on quartz grains. The effects of time of attrition-ing, impeller speed and solid/liquid ration were investi-gated. Classification of the scrubbed sands resulted in the removal of a slimy fraction and yielded a product having 0.065% Fe. Acid attritioning of sand with commer-cial HCL at room temperature did not affect the iron, coat-ing quartz particles
Synthesis and Characterization of New Azo Dyes Derived From Acyclovir and Sulfamethoxazole and Study Their Biological Activity
In this research, two new azo dyes, 9-(2-Hydroxy-ethoxymethyl)-2-(2-hydroxy5nitrophenylazo)-1,9-dihydro-purin-6-one and 4-(2-Hydroxy-napHthalen-1-ylazo)-N-(5-methyl-isoxazol-3-yl)-benzenesulfonamide, derived from Acyclovir and Sulfamethoxazole was synthesized. The first dye synthesis was started by diazation of acyclovir, then combined with 4-nitrophenol activated with potassium hydroxide 10%, yielding 80%, and its purity was verified by thin layer chromatography (TLC). The second dye synthesis was started by diazation of Sulfamethoxazole then combined with β-naphthol activated with potassium hydroxide 10%, yielding 87%, and its purity was verified by thin layer chromatography (TLC). The identity of the resulting pigments was determined based on spectroscopic methods such as infrared spectroscopy, proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum and UV-VIS spectrum. The results of this study showed that they were in agreement with the blistered formula of the dyes. The biological activity of the resulting pigments was studied on two common and clinically pathogenic bacteria E.coli and Steaphylococcus. It was found that the dye has a good inhibitory ability towards the growth of both bacteria, more than it is in the case of acyclovir and Sulfamethoxazole

Job Satisfaction Among Faculty Members at Yarmouk University
This study measured and analyzed job satisfaction among faculty members at Yarmouk University in relation to gender, marital status, age, annual salary, years of experience, academic rank, academic activity, faculty affiliation, country in which the last degree was received, tenure status, and nationality. The population consisted of 350 full-time faculty members. A total of 216 (61.7%) faculty members participated in this study. The data collecting instruments consisted of the faculty data sheet and the Job Descriptive Index. Frequencies, percentages, means, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were employed to analyze the data. The level of significance was set at 0.05. A Scheffe method of multiple comparison was used for follow-up investigation.
Although the results of the study indicate that there were no significant differences in job satisfaction among faculty members with regard to gender, marital status, academic activity, and the country in which the faculty member received the last degree, significant differences were found with regard to age, annual salary, nationality, years of experience, rank, tenure status, and faculty affiliation
