Degeneracy of Ground State in Two-dimensional Electron-Lattice System
We discuss the ground state of a two dimensional electron-lattice system
described by a Su-Schrieffer-Heeger type Hamiltonian with a half-filled
electronic band, for which it has been pointed out in the previous paper [J.
Phys. Soc. Jpn. 69 (2000) 1769-1776] that the ground state distortion pattern
is not unique in spite of a unique electronic energy spectrum and the same
total energy. The necessary and sufficient conditions to be satisfied by the
distortion patterns in the ground state are derived numerically. As a result
the degrees of degeneracy in the ground state is estimated to be about
for with the linear dimension of the system.Comment: 2pages, 2figure
Classification of finite dimensional modules of singly atypical type over the Lie superalgebras sl(m/n)
We classify the finite dimensional indecomposable sl(m/n)-modules with at
least a typical or singly atypical primitive weight. We do this classification
not only for weight modules, but also for generalized weight modules. We obtain
that such a generalized weight module is simply a module obtained by
``linking'' sub-quotient modules of generalized Kac-modules. By applying our
results to sl(m/1), we have in fact completely classified all finite
dimensional sl(m/1)-modules.Comment: 17 pages, Late
Non-damping oscillations at flaring loops
Context. QPPs are usually detected as spatial displacements of coronal loops
in imaging observations or as periodic shifts of line properties in
spectroscopic observations. They are often applied for remote diagnostics of
magnetic fields and plasma properties on the Sun. Aims. We combine imaging and
spectroscopic measurements of available space missions, and investigate the
properties of non-damping oscillations at flaring loops. Methods. We used the
IRIS to measure the spectrum over a narrow slit. The double-component Gaussian
fitting method was used to extract the line profile of Fe XXI 1354.08 A at "O
I" window. The quasi-periodicity of loop oscillations were identified in the
Fourier and wavelet spectra. Results. A periodicity at about 40 s is detected
in the line properties of Fe XXI, HXR emissions in GOES 1-8 A derivative, and
Fermi 26-50 keV. The Doppler velocity and line width oscillate in phase, while
a phase shift of about Pi/2 is detected between the Doppler velocity and peak
intensity. The amplitudes of Doppler velocity and line width oscillation are
about 2.2 km/s and 1.9 km/s, respectively, while peak intensity oscillate with
amplitude at about 3.6% of the background emission. Meanwhile, a quasi-period
of about 155 s is identified in the Doppler velocity and peak intensity of Fe
XXI, and AIA 131 A intensity. Conclusions. The oscillations at about 40 s are
not damped significantly during the observation, it might be linked to the
global kink modes of flaring loops. The periodicity at about 155 s is most
likely a signature of recurring downflows after chromospheric evaporation along
flaring loops. The magnetic field strengths of the flaring loops are estimated
to be about 120-170 G using the MHD seismology diagnostics, which are
consistent with the magnetic field modeling results using the flux rope

Characterizing Ranked Chinese Syllable-to-Character Mapping Spectrum: A Bridge Between the Spoken and Written Chinese Language
One important aspect of the relationship between spoken and written Chinese
is the ranked syllable-to-character mapping spectrum, which is the ranked list
of syllables by the number of characters that map to the syllable. Previously,
this spectrum is analyzed for more than 400 syllables without distinguishing
the four intonations. In the current study, the spectrum with 1280 toned
syllables is analyzed by logarithmic function, Beta rank function, and
piecewise logarithmic function. Out of the three fitting functions, the
two-piece logarithmic function fits the data the best, both by the smallest sum
of squared errors (SSE) and by the lowest Akaike information criterion (AIC)
value. The Beta rank function is the close second. By sampling from a Poisson
distribution whose parameter value is chosen from the observed data, we
empirically estimate the -value for testing the
two-piece-logarithmic-function being better than the Beta rank function
hypothesis, to be 0.16. For practical purposes, the piecewise logarithmic

User manual of the CATSS system (version 1.0) communication analysis tool for space station
The Communication Analysis Tool for the Space Station (CATSS) is a FORTRAN language software package capable of predicting the communications links performance for the Space Station (SS) communication and tracking (C & T) system. An interactive software package was currently developed to run on the DEC/VAX computers. The CATSS models and evaluates the various C & T links of the SS, which includes the modulation schemes such as Binary-Phase-Shift-Keying (BPSK), BPSK with Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (PN/BPSK), and M-ary Frequency-Shift-Keying with Frequency Hopping (FH/MFSK). Optical Space Communication link is also included. CATSS is a C & T system engineering tool used to predict and analyze the system performance for different link environment. Identification of system weaknesses is achieved through evaluation of performance with varying system parameters. System tradeoff for different values of system parameters are made based on the performance prediction
Intergovernmental Relationships in Costal Land Management
In order to decrease the degradation rate of magnesium (Mg) alloys for the potential orthopedic applications, manganese-calcium phosphate coatings were prepared on an Mg-Ca-Zn alloy in calcium phosphating solutions with different addition of Mn2+. Influence of Mn content on degradation behaviors of phosphate coatings in the simulated body fluid was investigated to obtain the optimum coating. With the increasing Mn addition, the corrosion resistance of the manganese-calcium phosphate coatings was gradually improved. The optimum coating prepared in solution containing 0.05 mol/L Mn2+ had a uniform and compact microstructure and was composed of MnHPO4 center dot 3H(2)O, CaHPO4 center dot 2H(2)O, and Ca-3 (PO4)(2). The electrochemical corrosion test in simulated body fluid revealed that polarization resistance of the optimum coating is 36273 Omega cm(2), which is about 11 times higher than that of phosphate coating without Mn addition. The optimum coating also showed the most stable surface structure and lowest hydrogen release in the immersion test in simulated body fluid
Lie bialgebras of generalized Witt type
In a paper by Michaelis a class of infinite-dimensional Lie bialgebras
containing the Virasoro algebra was presented. This type of Lie bialgebras was
classified by Ng and Taft. In this paper, all Lie bialgebra structures on the
Lie algebras of generalized Witt type are classified. It is proved that, for
any Lie algebra of generalized Witt type, all Lie bialgebras on are
coboundary triangular Lie bialgebras. As a by-product, it is also proved that
