Primula undulifolia sp. nov. (A) Habit in Flowering; (B) Type Locality; (C) Calyx; (D) Pin and Thrum Flowers; (E) Leaf. Photographed by Yuan XU.</p

Bayesian majority consensus tree of Primula based on the four DNA markers (ITS, matK, trnL-F and rps16) with main diagnostic characters (inflorescence types and calyx shape) mapped on.

Numbers before and after the slash on the branches are parsimony bootstrap values (β‰₯ 50%) and Bayesian posterior probabilities (β‰₯ 0.5), respectively. Clades A-D represent the monophyletic clade of P. sect. Carolinella. (A’) Inflorescence of P. chapaensis; (B’) Inflorescence of P. kwangtungensis; (C’) Inflorescence of P. calyptrate; (D’) Inflorescence of P. rugosa; (A”) Calyx of P. chapaensis; (B”) Calyx of P. kwangtungensis; (C”) Calyx of P. calyptrate; (D”) Calyx of P. rugosa.</p

The Bayesian posterior probabilities are shown below the branches and Maximum Likelihood (ML) bootstrap values above. Clade A, B, and C indicate subg. Lysimachia sect. Hypericoideae, subg. Palladia + subg. Heterostylandra, and subg. Idiophyton respectively. The boxed taxa represent the new species. Vertical bars with labels on the right side represent the series of sect. Hypericoideae proposed by Chen & Hu [8].</p

A new species, Lysimachia huangsangensis (Primulaceae), from Hunan, China is described and illustrated. The new species is closely related to L. carinata because of the crested calyx, but differs in the leaf blades that are ovate to elliptic and (3–)4.5–9 Γ— 2–3.4 cm, 2–5-flowered racemes, and the calyx lobes that are ovate-lanceolate and 5–6 Γ— 3–4 mm. The systematic placement and conservation status are also discussed.
</div
