    Identification and location of ship pipeline leakage based on VMD

    Pipeline plays an important role in various systems of the ship. However, due to the harsh environment, leakage often occurs in ship pipeline. This paper proposes a method to identity and locate the pipeline leakage. Using the variational mode decomposition (VMD) algorithm, the vibration signal is decomposed into band-limited intrinsic mode functions (BIMFs). The effective BIMFs are then selected by the correlation coefficient. Center frequency and energy value of the effective BIMFs are extracted as feature vector. Radial Basis Function (RBF) neural network is then used as a tool to identify and locate the leakage. The proposed method is finally verified by experiments

    Pressure-induced one-dimensional oxygen ion diffusion channel in lead-apatite

    Recently, Lee et al. claimed that the experimental observation of room-temperature ambient-pressure superconductivity in a Cu-doped lead-apatite (Pb10-xCux(PO4)6O). The study revealed the Cu doping induces a chemical pressure, resulting in a structural contraction of one-dimensional Cu-O-Cu atomic column. This unique structure promotes a one-dimensional electronic conduction channel along the c-axis mediated by the O atoms, which may be related to superconductivity. These O atoms occupy 1/4 of the equivalent positions along the c-axis and exhibit a low diffusion activation energy of 0.8 eV, indicating the possibility of diffusion between these equivalent positions. Here, using machine-learning based deep potential, we predict the pressure-induced fast diffusion of 1/4-occupied O atoms along the one-dimensional channel in Pb10(PO4)6O at 500 K, while the frameworks of Pb triangles and PO4 tetrahedrons remain stable. The calculation results also indicate Cu doping can provide appropriate effective chemical pressure, indicating the one-dimensional ion diffusion channel may appear in Pb9Cu(PO4)6O, even at ambient pressure. Our finding shows that the one-dimensional ions diffusion channel may be an important factor to affects the fabrication and electrical measurement of doped lead-apatite.Comment: 15 pages, 7 figure

    Safety Risk Estimation of Construction Project Based on Energy Transfer Model and System Dynamics: A Case Study of Collapse Accident in China

    Analyzing and understanding the occurrence and evolution mechanisms of construction accidents are important for construction safety management. This study proposed a hybrid approach of integrating the energy transfer model (ETM) and system dynamics (SD) theory to delineate the entire evolution stage of the construction accident. Specifically, the Fengcheng Power Plant construction platform collapse accident (FPCA) was taken as a practical case study. First, the ETM is applied to demonstrate the evolving nature of the accident. Then, the network of the accident-causing factors is constructed using the SD theory to analyze the dynamic change characteristics. The results indicate that the accident was caused by risk factors with complex interactions at the management level. An energy constraint failure occurred when the transfer of dangerous energy transpired at the physical entity level, inducing the event. The proposed approach can provide a useful reference for safety risk estimation and management in future major construction projects

    Molecular characterization of Listeria monocytogenes strains isolated from imported food in China from 14 countries/regions, 2003-2018

    Listeria monocytogenes (Lm) is associated with severe foodborne infections and ubiquitous in the nature. Identification of characteristics of Lm transmission through trading of food products is essential for rapidly tracking Lm sources and controlling dissemination of listeriosis. In this study, a total of 44 Lm strains were isolated from food products originating from 14 countries/regions during 2003-2018 at the Shanghai port. The genomes of these Lm strains were sequenced by high-throughput sequencing. Multilocus sequence typing (MLST) analysis showed that 43 isolates were divided into 17 sequence types (STs). The distribution of STs was decentralized, with the dominant ST2 accounting for only 18.18% of the strains. The LM63 strain did not match with any of the existing STs. Core-genome MLST (cgMLST) analysis based on 1748 core genes categorized the 44 strains into 30 cgMLST types (CTs), with CT10153 and CT7892 as the most predominant CTs. Notably, LM63 and LM67 shared the same CT in the cgMLST analysis. The phylogenetic analysis based on single-copy homologous genes revealed that the 44 Lm strains were primarily classified into two lineages. The SNP analysis also indicated that these strains were roughly divided into two clades, with strains in the first clade mainly collected earlier than those in the second clade, which were predominantly collected from 2010 onwards. The analysis using the virulence factor database (VFDB) indicated that the virulence gene inlJ was the most prevalent among these 44 strains. Notably, ddrA, msbA, and sugC were enriched in this dataset, requiring further clarification of their roles in Listeria through future studies. These results might provide a clue for understanding of the global epidemiology and surveillance of Lm and present insights for implementing effective measures to reduce or prevent Listeria contamination outbreaks in imported food products

    DFT Studies on Ni-Mediated C–F Cleavage for the Synthesis of Cyclopentadiene Derivatives

    Density functional theory calculations have been performed to study the detailed mechanism of Ni-mediated [3+2] cycloaddition of 2-trifluoromethyl-1-alkenes with alkynes via cleavage of two C-F bonds. It was found that the reaction pathway involves oxidative cyclization, the first β-fluorine elimination, and then intramolecular 5-endo insertion of difluoroalkene, followed by the second cleavage of C-F bond, and finally the dissociation of difluorides yields the fluorine-containing product cyclopentadienes in sequence. The overall rate-determining step is the combined processes of the β-fluorine elimination and the 5-endo insertion. Furthermore, we investigated the effect of different ligands and the regioselectivity of asymmetric alkynes. The detailed energy profiles and structures are presented in this study

    Efficacy of physical exercise on the physical ability, cardiac function and cardiopulmonary fitness of patients with atrial fibrillation: a systematic review and meta-analysis

    ObjectiveIt is advised that patients engage in physical activity to enhance their quality of life and achieve better results. The purpose of the current study was to measure the efficacy of exercise on the physical ability, cardiac function and cardiopulmonary fitness of patients with AF.MethodA comprehensive systematic literature search was performed in PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science from 1991 to 2023 for RCTs comparing physical exercise combined with AF routine treatments to routine treatments alone. The meta-analysis was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. Our main outcomes were physical ability (measured by the 6-min walk test, 6MWT), cardiac function (measured by left ventricular ejection fraction, LVEF) and cardiopulmonary fitness (measured by peak oxygen uptake and resting heart rate). Quality assessments were conducted using the Cochrane Collaboration tool.ResultsThirteen trials involving 672 patients met the criteria for analysis. The results showed that physical exercise increased physical ability by improving the 6MWT (m) performance (MD = 96.99, 95% CI: 25.55–168.43; Z = 2.66; p = 0.008); and enhanced peak VO2 (ml/kg per min) (MD = 4.85, 95% CI: 1.55–8.14; Z = 2.89; p = 0.004) while reducing resting heart rate (beats per minute, bpm) (MD = −6.14, 95% CI: −11.30 to −0.98; Z = 2.33; p = 0.02). However, the results showed that regular exercise could improve LVEF (%) inpatients clinically, which had no statistic difference between experimental and control group (MD = 1.49, 95% CI: −0.25–3.24; Z = 1.68; p = 0.09).ConclusionOur meta-analysis shows that physical exercise is an effective intervention to improve the exercise ability and cardiopulmonary fitness for AF patients. Meanwhile, we also do not exclude the positive effect of exercise on the improvement of cardiac function (LVEF) in patients with AF. To this end, doctors should consider the positive impact of exercise on patients and give advice on exercise limits in practical clinical practice

    Natural compounds from botanical drugs targeting mTOR signaling pathway as promising therapeutics for atherosclerosis: A review

    Atherosclerosis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory disease that is a major cause of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), including coronary artery disease, hypertension, myocardial infarction, and heart failure. Hence, the mechanisms of AS are still being explored. A growing compendium of evidence supports that the activity of the mechanistic/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) is highly correlated with the risk of AS. The mTOR signaling pathway contributes to AS progression by regulating autophagy, cell senescence, immune response, and lipid metabolism. Various botanical drugs and their functional compounds have been found to exert anti- AS effects by modulating the activity of the mTOR signaling pathway. In this review, we summarize the pathogenesis of AS based on the mTOR signaling pathway from the aspects of immune response, autophagy, cell senescence, and lipid metabolism, and comb the recent advances in natural compounds from botanical drugs to inhibit the mTOR signaling pathway and delay AS development. This review will provide a new perspective on the mechanisms and precision treatments of AS

    Rapid Diagnosis of HIV-1 virus by Near Infrared Spectroscopy: based on Partial least squares regression

    Currently, the laboratory diagnostic tests available for HIV-1 viral infection are mainly based on serological testing which relies on enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for blood HIV antigen detection and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for HIV specific RNA sequence identification. However, these methods are expensive and time-consuming, and suffer from false positive and/or false negative results. Thus, there is an urgent need for developing a cost effective, rapid and accurate diagnostic method for HIV-1 infection. In order to reduce the barriers for effective diagnosis, a near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR) method was used to detect the HIV-1 virus in human serum, specifically, three absorption peaks with dose-dependent at 1582nm, 1810nm and 2363nm were found by multiple FBiPLSR test analysis for HIV-nano and HIV-EGFP, but not for MLV. Therefore, we recommend the use of 1582nm, 1810nm and 2363nm as the characteristic spectrum peak, for early screening and rapid diagnosis of serum HIV

    Quantitative assessment of OCT and OCTA parameters in diabetic retinopathy with and without macular edema: single-center cross-sectional analysis

    AimThe retinal and choroidal parameters were analyzed to understand the impairment of microcirculation of both retina and choroid in patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR).MethodsFifty-five treatment-naive non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) patients (75 eyes) with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), including 28 patients (36 eyes) with diabetic macular edema (DME) and 27 patients (39 eyes) without DME, and 25 healthy subjects (47 eyes) were enrolled in this study. The following parameters of DR patients with and without DME were evaluated: the foveal avascular zone area (FAZ-a), FAZ perimeter (FAZ-p), FAZ circularity index (FAZ-CI), total subfoveal choroidal area (TCA), luminal area (LA), stromal area (SA), choroidal vascularity index (CVI), choriocapillaris flow area percentage, superficial capillary plexus (SCP), and deep capillary plexus (DCP).ResultsSCP, DCP, and the percentage of choriocapillaris flow area were significantly different between DR patients with and without DME. The DR patients presented lower LA, CVI, and FAZ-CI compared to those of healthy controls (all p < 0.05). The percentage of choriocapillaris flow area in DR patients with and without DME was significantly lower than that in healthy controls (p < 0.05). SCP and DCP were significantly correlated with FAZ-a and FAZ-p but presented insignificant associations with FAZ-CI.ConclusionsOptical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT angiography (OCTA) parameters, such as LA, CVI, FAZ-CI, and the percentage of choriocapillaris flow area, were reduced compared to those in controls, indicating that the microcirculations of the retina and choroid in the macular area were impaired in DR patients with DME and without DME
