Context-Aware Prompt Tuning for Vision-Language Model with Dual-Alignment

Large-scale vision-language models (VLMs), e.g., CLIP, learn broad visual concepts from tedious training data, showing superb generalization ability. Amount of prompt learning methods have been proposed to efficiently adapt the VLMs to downstream tasks with only a few training samples. We introduce a novel method to improve the prompt learning of vision-language models by incorporating pre-trained large language models (LLMs), called Dual-Aligned Prompt Tuning (DuAl-PT). Learnable prompts, like CoOp, implicitly model the context through end-to-end training, which are difficult to control and interpret. While explicit context descriptions generated by LLMs, like GPT-3, can be directly used for zero-shot classification, such prompts are overly relying on LLMs and still underexplored in few-shot domains. With DuAl-PT, we propose to learn more context-aware prompts, benefiting from both explicit and implicit context modeling. To achieve this, we introduce a pre-trained LLM to generate context descriptions, and we encourage the prompts to learn from the LLM's knowledge by alignment, as well as the alignment between prompts and local image features. Empirically, DuAl-PT achieves superior performance on 11 downstream datasets on few-shot recognition and base-to-new generalization. Hopefully, DuAl-PT can serve as a strong baseline. Nonlinear Magneto-Electro-Mechanical Response of Physical Cross-Linked Magneto-Electric Polymer Gel

This work reports on a novel magnetorheological polymer gel with carbon nanotubes and carbonyl iron particles mixed into the physical cross-linked polymer gel matrix. The resulting composites show unusual nonlinear magneto-electro-mechanical responses. Because of the low matrix viscosity, effective conductive paths formed by the CNTs were mobile and high-performance sensing characteristics were observed. In particular, due to the transient and mutable physical cross-linked bonds in the polymer gel, the electromechanical behavior acted in a rate-dependent manner. External stimulus at a high rate significantly enhanced the electrical resistance response during mechanical deformation. Meanwhile, the rheological properties were regulated by the external magnetic field when magnetic particles were added. This dual enhancement mechanism further contributes to the active control of electromechanical performance. These polymer composites could be adopted as electromechanical sensitive sensors to measure impact and vibration under different frequencies. There is great potential for this magnetorheological polymer gel in the application of intelligent vibration controls

BackgroundCD55 plays an important role in the development of colon cancer. This study aims to evaluate the expression of CD55 in colon cancer and discover how it is regulated by transcriptional factors and miRNA.MethodsThe expression of CD55 was explored by TIMER2.0, UALCAN, and Human Protein Atlas (HPA) databases. TRANSFAC and Contra v3 were used to predict the potential binding sites of transcription factors in the CD55 promoter. TargetScan and starBase v2.0 were used to predict the potential binding ability of miRNAs to the 3′ untranslated region (3′UTR) of CD55. SurvivalMeth was used to explore the differentially methylated sites in the CD55 promoter. Western blotting was used to detect the expression of TFCP2 and CD55. Dual-luciferase reporter assay and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assay were performed to determine the targeting relationship of TFCP2, NF-κB, or miR-27a-3p with CD55. CD55-related genes were explored by constructing a protein–protein interaction (PPI) network and performing pathway analysis by Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG).ResultsCD55 was highly expressed in colon cancer tissues. The mRNA and protein expression levels of TFCP2 were reduced by si-TFCP2. NF-κB mRNA was obviously reduced by NF-κB inhibitor and increased by NF-κB activator. CD55 protein was also inhibited by miR-27a-3p. Dual-luciferase reporter assays showed that after knocking down TFCP2 or inhibiting NF-κB, the promoter activity of CD55 was decreased by 21% and 70%, respectively; after activating NF-κB, the promoter activity of CD55 increased by 2.3 times. As TFCP2 or NF-κB binding site was mutated, the transcriptional activity of CD55 was significantly decreased. ChIP assay showed that TFCP2 and NF-κB combined to the promoter of CD55. The luciferase activity of CD55 3′UTR decreased after being co-transfected with miR-27a-3p mimics and increased by miR-27a-3p antagomir. As the miR-27a-3p binding site was mutated, we did not find any significant effect of miR-27a-3p on reporter activity. PPI network assay revealed a set of CD55-related genes, which included CFP, CFB, C4A, and C4B. GO and KEGG analyses revealed that the target genes occur more frequently in immune-related pathways.ConclusionOur results indicated that CD55 is regulated by TFCP2, NF-κB, miR-27a-3p, and several immune-related genes, which in turn affects colon cancer

    Surface-modified polyacrylonitrile nanofibers as supports

Polyacrylonitrile nanofibers (PAN-nfs) are one of the most studied nanofibres because of their excellent characteristics, such as good mechanical strength, chemical resistance, and good thermal stability. Due to the easy dissolution in polar organic solvents, PAN-nfs are mostly produced via electrospinning technique. The electrospun PAN-nfs surfaces are relatively in-active and hydrophobic, and, therefore, hinder some potential applications; however, chemical surface modification reactions, such as amination, reduction, hydrolysis, and amidoximation, have been carried out on them. These reactions bring about functional groups, such as amine, hydroxyl, carboxylic, imine etc, to the surface PAN-nfs and invariably make their surfaces active and hydrophilic. The surface-modified PAN-nfs have been used as supports for organic compounds, enzymes, and antibodies in biological studies. They have also been used for immobilization of various organic ligands for adsorption of metal ions in water. Furthermore, because of their ability to complex metal ions, several surface-modified PAN-nfs have also been used as supports for transition metal catalysts in Fenton’s chemistry.IS

Obstacle Avoidance in a Three-Dimensional Dynamic Environment Based on Fuzzy Dynamic Windows

This paper presents a real-time path planning approach for controlling the motion of space-based robots. The algorithm can plan three-dimensional trajectories for agents in a complex environment which includes numerous static and dynamic obstacles, path constraints, and/or performance constraints. This approach is extended based on the dynamic window approach (DWA). As the classic reactive method for obstacle avoidance, DWA uses an optimized function to select the best motion command. The original DWA optimization function consists of three weight terms. Changing the weights of these terms will change the behavior of the algorithm. In this paper, to improve the evaluation ability of the optimization function and the robot’s ability to adapt to the environment, a new optimization function is designed and combined with fuzzy logic to adjust the weights of each parameter of the optimization function. Given that DWA has the defect of local minima, which makes the robot hard to escape U-shaped obstacles, a dual dynamic window method and local goals are adopted in this article to help the robot escape local minima. By comparison, the proposed method is superior to traditional DWA and fuzzy DWA (F_DWA) in terms of computational efficiency, smoothness and security

To guarantee the accuracy of sophisticated equipment in spacecraft, it is essential to evaluate the dynamic forces of vibration sources. In contrast to conventional rigid-based measuring approaches, a method for predicting the interference of dynamic forces from large sources on spacecraft considering vibration coupling is proposed. In addition, a flexible-based dynamic force measuring platform capable of withstanding large masses and mounting large-volume vibration sources is designed. After that, the experiments for calibrating the platform and acquiring unknown terms in the derived theoretical models are detailed. The principle prototype is then manufactured for feasibility verification. It is demonstrated that despite the low fundamental frequency of the measuring platform of 242.8 Hz, the measurement error of the flexible measuring platform is less than 8% when the coupling is taken into account, which is 29% lower than that without coupling. Additionally, the prediction error of disturbance forces is within 17%. As a result, the accuracy of the proposed dynamic force measurement and prediction of large vibration sources considering coupling is substantially improved, providing a good reference for aerospace applications

Considering that the Line-Of-Sight (LOS) of a small optical payload is mainly connected with the angular motions while insensitive to linear motion, a novel pointing and stabilizing manipulator was proposed for small payloads on a large spacecraft. By integrating fine and coarse actuators in parallel, the proposed manipulator could isolate spacecraft vibration and independently adjust the LOS on a large scale at the same time. On this basis, the study revealed the key kinematic and dynamic characteristics and then designed an operation scheme, including the large-scale angular motion algorithm and the active isolation algorithm. Finally, the proposed pointing solution was comprehensively verified through simulation
