Tur\'{a}n problems for star-path forests in hypergraphs
An -uniform hypergraph (-graph) is linear if any two edges intersect at
most one vertex. Let be a given family of -graphs. A
hypergraph is called -free if does not contain any
hypergraphs in . The Tur\'{a}n number
of is defined as the maximum number of edges of all
-free -graphs on vertices, and the linear Tur\'{a}n number
of is defined as the
Tur\'{a}n number of in linear host hypergraphs. An -uniform
linear path of length is an -graph with edges
such that if , and
for otherwise. Gy\'{a}rf\'{a}s et al.
[Linear Tur\'{a}n numbers of acyclic triple systems, European J. Combin., 2022,
103435] obtained an upper bound for the linear Tur\'{a}n number of .
In this paper, an upper bound for the linear Tur\'{a}n number of is
obtained, which generalizes the result of to any .
Furthermore, some results for the linear Tur\'{a}n number and Tur\'{a}n number
of some linear star-path forests are obtained
Object Re-Identification Based on Deep Learning
With the explosive growth of video data and the rapid development of computer vision technology, more and more relevant technologies are applied in our real life, one of which is object re-identification (Re-ID) technology. Object Re-ID is currently concentrated in the field of person Re-ID and vehicle Re-ID, which is mainly used to realize the cross-vision tracking of person/vehicle and trajectory prediction. This chapter combines theory and practice to explain why the deep network can re-identify the object. To introduce the main technical route of object Re-ID, the examples of person/vehicle Re-ID are given, and the improvement points of existing object Re-ID research are described separately
Spectral extremal results for Berge--free -graphs
An -uniform hypergraph (-graph) is linear if any two edges intersect at
most one vertex. For a graph , a hypergraph is Berge- if there is a
bijection such that for each
. For an -graph , let be the adjacency tensor
of . The spectral radius of is the spectral radius of the tensor
. In this paper, a kind of stability results for
Berge- linear -graphs are built. Based on these results, an upper
bound for the spectral radius of connected Berge--free linear
-graphs is obtained. Meanwhile, the structure of the spectral extremal
connected Berge--free linear -graphs is studied.Comment: 15 page
SANT proteins modulate gene expression by coordinating histone H3KAc and Khib levels and regulate plant heat tolerance
Histone post-translational modifications (PTMs), such as acetylation and recently identified lysine 2-hydroxyisobutyrylation (Khib), act as active epigenomic marks in plants. SANT domain-containing proteins SANT1, SANT2, SANT3, and SANT4 (SANT1/2/3/4), derived from PIF/Harbinger transposases, form a complex with HISTONE DEACETYLASE 6 (HDA6) to regulate gene expression via histone deacetylation. However, whether SANT1/2/3/4 coordinates different types of PTMs to regulate transcription and mediate responses to specific stresses in plants remains unclear. Here, in addition to modulating histone deacetylation, we found that SANT1/2/3/4 proteins acted like HDA6 or HDA9 in regulating the removal of histone Khib in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana). Histone H3 lysine acetylation (H3KAc) and histone Khib were coordinated by SANT1/2/3/4 to regulate gene expression, with H3KAc playing a predominant role and Khib acting complementarily to H3KAc. SANT1/2/3/4 mutation significantly increased the expression of heat-inducible genes with concurrent change of H3KAc levels under normal and heat stress conditions, resulting in enhanced thermotolerance. This study revealed the critical roles of Harbinger transposon-derived SANT domain-containing proteins in transcriptional regulation by coordinating different types of histone PTMs and in the regulation of plant thermotolerance by mediating histone acetylation modification
Inhibiting Delta-6 Desaturase Activity Suppresses Tumor Growth in Mice
Recent studies have shown that a tumor-supportive microenvironment is characterized by high levels of pro-inflammatory and pro-angiogenic eicosanoids derived from omega-6 (n−6) arachidonic acid (AA). Although the metabolic pathways (COX, LOX, and P450) that generate these n−6 AA eicosanoids have been targeted, the role of endogenous AA production in tumorigenesis remains unexplored. Delta-6 desaturase (D6D) is the rate-limiting enzyme responsible for the synthesis of n−6 AA and increased D6D activity can lead to enhanced n−6 AA production. Here, we show that D6D activity is upregulated during melanoma and lung tumor growth and that suppressing D6D activity, either by RNAi knockdown or a specific D6D inhibitor, dramatically reduces tumor growth. Accordingly, the content of AA and AA-derived tumor-promoting metabolites is significantly decreased. Angiogenesis and inflammatory status are also reduced. These results identify D6D as a key factor for tumor growth and as a potential target for cancer therapy and prevention
GSK-3alpha directly regulates beta-adrenergic signaling and the response of the heart to hemodynamic stress in mice.
The glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3) family of serine/threonine kinases consists of 2 highly related isoforms, alpha and beta. Although GSK-3beta has an important role in cardiac development, much remains unknown about the function of either GSK-3 isoform in the postnatal heart. Herein, we present what we believe to be the first studies defining the role of GSK-3alpha in the mouse heart using gene targeting. Gsk3a(-/-) mice over 2 months of age developed progressive cardiomyocyte and cardiac hypertrophy and contractile dysfunction. Following thoracic aortic constriction in young mice, we observed enhanced hypertrophy that rapidly transitioned to ventricular dilatation and contractile dysfunction. Surprisingly, markedly impaired beta-adrenergic responsiveness was found at both the organ and cellular level. This phenotype was reproduced by acute treatment of WT cardiomyocytes with a small molecule GSK-3 inhibitor, confirming that the response was not due to a chronic adaptation to LV dysfunction. Thus, GSK-3alpha appears to be the central regulator of a striking range of essential processes, including acute and direct positive regulation of beta-adrenergic responsiveness. In the absence of GSK-3alpha, the heart cannot respond effectively to hemodynamic stress and rapidly fails. Our findings identify what we believe to be a new paradigm of regulation of beta-adrenergic signaling and raise concerns given the rapid expansion of drug development targeting GSK-3

ProLo: Localization via Projection for Three-Dimensional Mobile Underwater Sensor Networks
We study the problem of three-dimensional localization of the underwater mobile sensor networks using only range measurements without GPS devices. This problem is challenging because sensor nodes often drift with unknown water currents. Consequently, the moving direction and speed of a sensor node cannot be predicted. Moreover, the motion devices of the sensor nodes are not accurate in underwater environments. Therefore, we propose an adaptive localization scheme, ProLo, taking these uncertainties into consideration. This scheme applies the rigidity theory and maintains a virtual rigid structure through projection. We have proved the correctness of this three-dimensional localization scheme and also validated it using simulation. The results demonstrate that ProLo is promising for real mobile underwater sensor networks with various noises and errors
