Toward demonstrating controlled-X operation based on continuous variable four-partite cluster state and quantum teleporters

One-way quantum computation based on measurement and multipartite cluster entanglement offers the ability to perform a variety of unitary operations only through different choices of measurement bases. Here we present an experimental study toward demonstrating the controlled-X operation, a two-mode gate, in which continuous variable (CV) four-partite cluster states of optical modes are utilized. Two quantum teleportation elements are used for achieving the gate operation of the quantum state transformation from input target and control states to output states. By means of the optical cluster state prepared off-line, the homodyne detection and electronic feeding forward, the information carried by the input control state is transformed to the output target state. The presented scheme of the controlled-X operation based on teleportation can be implemented nonlocally and deterministically. The distortion of the quantum information resulting from the imperfect cluster entanglement is estimated with the fidelity

Mechanism of hesperidin-induced apoptosis in human gastric cancer AGS cells

Purpose: To investigate the effect of hesperidin on apoptosis of gastric cancer (GC) AGS cells, and the underlying mechanism of action. Methods: The inhibitory effect of hesperidin was determined in AGS cells by MTT assay. Annexin VFITC/PI double staining and flow cytometry (FC) were used to evaluate the apoptotic activity of hesperidin, reactive oxygen species (ROS), and changes in cell apoptosis after treatment of NAC cells with NAC. Expressions of B cell lymphoma/leukemia-2 (Bcl-2) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway were determined by Western blotting. Results: MTT assay data showed that hesperidin inhibited AGS and MKN-28 cells. Treatment of AGS cells with hesperidin resulted in apoptosis which manifested as nuclear condensation and cell shrinkage. Staining and FC demonstrated that hesperidin induced mitochondrial apoptosis in AGS cells and increased intracellular ROS. Pre-treatment of AGS cells with NAC inhibited hesperidin-induced apoptosis. Results from western blotting showed that the increased expressions of p-JNK, p-p38, Bad, Caspase-3 and PARP, and downregulation of anti-apoptotic proteins p-ERK and Bcl-2, indicating that hesperidin activated MAPK signaling pathway and mitochondria-dependent apoptosis in AGS cells. Conclusion: Hesperidin promotes apoptosis in human GC AGS cells. This finding provides an insight into the development of new anti-GC drugs

Hydrological Drought Forecasting and Assessment Based on the Standardized Stream Index in the Southwest China

AbstractSouthwest China is abundant of rainfall and water resources, however, severe and extremely droughts hits it more frequently in recent years, caused huge loss of human lives and financial damages. To investigate the feasibility of the standardized stream index in Southwest China, the Nanpanjiang River basin above the Xiaolongtan hydrological station was selected as the case study site. Based on long-term daily hydrological and meteorological data series, the generated runoff was simulated by the daily Xinanjiang model, then the standardized stream index was calculated and its feasibility was explored by comparing it with other two hydrological drought index. The result revealed that the standardized stream index performed well in detecting the onset, severity and duration in 2009/2010 extremely drought. The output of the paper could provide valuable references for the regional and national drought monitoring and forecasting systems
