"Western imitation" in modern China's urban planning practice between the Late Qing Dynasty and the Early Republic of China (1860-1927)
At the Late Qing Dynasty and the Early Republic of China, the ancient Chinese city was gradually transformed into a form that closes to a city with modern significance in terms of nature, the concept of construction, the management system and the spatial structure. Since the Western powers had previously dominated the global capital trade model and implemented the urban planning and construction paradigm, most of the modern Chinese learned and imitated the western models when they re-planned the original Chinese city areas. From the main source of imitation, it contains three categories: the concession, Japan, Europe and the United States. From the practitioner of imitation, most of them are politicians, social reformers, intellectuals with western culture and overseas Chinese with advanced notions. Their understanding and longing for the western urban planning laid the foundation of the transformation of China's modern urban planning. Based on relevant historical materials and existing researching literature, this paper analyses the process of understanding, imitating and implementing in modern China’s urban planning practice between 1860-1927 so as to make it clear that the particularity and universality in the birth and formation of modern Chinese urban planning
A historical review of foreign ideology in planning practice in Vietnam
Within 2,000 years, Vietnam was ruled by China for more than 1,000 years, was colonized by France for almost 100 years, and was divided into pro-American and pro-Soviet Union camps for more than 20 years during the world's cold war. It can be stated that Vietnam’s political, social, cultural and other aspects contain deep foreign trails, the same as urban planning. The article reviews some foreign thoughts, their practices and their influences that appeared in the history of Vietnam. With limited historical data and imperfect research foundations, these papers aim to reconstruct a clue about planning characters and planning events. Based on the source of thoughts, this article summarizes the perceived historical information and divides it into four parts: China, France, the Soviet Union and the United States, presenting in chapters while focusing on an important feature of urban planning in Vietnam, which is the superposition of multiple dimensions of urban and rural concepts, construction techniques and concept technology of different cultures in the same physical space dimension. In the conclusion, the article will analyze this feature, explains how it has been formed and what kind of influence and effect it has had on urban planning since 1986 Doi Moi
Construction of green infrastructure in coal-resource based city: a case study in Xuzhou urban area
Abstract As an important coal-resource based city in eastern China, coal mining activities have greatly promoted economic development to Xuzhou while resulted in kinds of blocks for sustainable development. Subsidence areas caused by coal mining activities and rapid urbanization process led to the losing of ecological function and decreasing of landscape connectivity in the city. As the important life-support system, urban green infrastructure (GI as short) has great significance in improving human well-beings. Taking Xuzhou urban area as the study object, this paper proposed a green infrastructure construction method based on the principle of ecological priority. Firstly, key ecological patches were identified by GIS and RS methods. Secondly, we established corridors by minimum cost path model. Then, we built GI network and evaluated the ecological importance of different patches. Finally, by comparing the status of patches and coal mining subsidence areas, we proposed a framework for constructing GI network in Xuzhou urban area
Design of Multi-Information Fusion Based Intelligent Electrical Fire Detection System for Green Buildings
Building management systems are costly for small- to medium-sized buildings. A massive volume of data is collected on different building contexts by the Internet of Things (IoT), which is then further monitored. This intelligence is integrated into building management systems (BMSs) for energy consumption management in a cost-effective manner. Electric fire safety is paramount in buildings, especially in hospitals. Facility managers focus on fire protection strategies and identify where system upgrades are needed to maintain existing technologies. Furthermore, BMSs in hospitals should minimize patient disruption and be immune to nuisance alarms. This paper proposes an intelligent detection technology for electric fires based on multi-information fusion for green buildings. The system model was established by using fuzzy logic reasoning. The extracted multi-information fusion was used to detect the arc fault, which often causes electrical fires in the low-voltage distribution system of green buildings. The reliability of the established multi-information fusion model was verified by simulation. Using fuzzy logic reasoning and the membership function in fuzzy set theory to solve the uncertain relationship between faults and symptoms is a widely applied method. In order to realize the early prediction and precise diagnosis of faults, a fuzzy reasoning system was applied to analyze the arcs causing electrical fires in the lines. In order to accurately identify the fault arcs that easily cause electrical fires in low-voltage distribution systems for building management, this paper introduces in detail a fault identification method based on multi-information fusion, which can consolidate the complementary advantages of different types of judgment. The results demonstrate that the multi-information fusion method reduces the deficiency of a single criterion in fault arc detection and prevents electrical fires in green buildings more comprehensively and accurately. For the real-time dataset, the data results are presented, showing disagreements among the testing methods
