    A novel colorimetric biosensor based on non-aggregated Au@Ag core–shell nanoparticles for methamphetamine and cocaine detection

    We report a novel colorimetric biosensor based on non-aggregation Au@Ag core-shell nanoparticles to detect methamphetamine and cocaine. The biosensor consisted of a reporter probe (RP) that is a specific single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) sequence coated on Au@Ag nanoparticles, a capture probe (CP) conjugated with magnetic beads, and an illicit drug-binding DNA aptamer (Apt). Au@Ag nanoparticles were synthesized by seed growth and characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), and UV–vis spectra. Methamphetamine (METH) was used as an example to evaluate the feasibility of the biosensor and to optimize the detection conditions. We demonstrated that this sensing platform was able to detect as low as 0.1 nM (14.9 ng L−1) METH with a negligible interference from other common illicit drugs. Various concentrations of METH were spiked into urines, and the biosensor yielded recoveries more than 83.1%. In addition, the biosensor also showed a high sensitivity to detect cocaine. These results demonstrated that our colorimetric sensor holds promise to be implemented as a visual sensing platform to detect multiple illicit drugs in biological samples and environmental matrices

    The deconfinement phase transition will lead to the release of latent heat during spins down of neutron stars if the transition is the first-order one.We have investigated the thermal evolution of neutron stars undergoing such deconfinement phase transition.     Development and Application of Chemical EOR Technologies in China Offshore Oil Fields

    At present, polymer flooding as the most effective chemical EOR technique is widely used in onshore oil fields in the world. Also, it has been successfully applied in China offshore oil fields as a major EOR technology. CNOOC has preliminarily established a chemical flooding (polymer, polymer-surfactant, weak gel, etc.) technology system including high-efficiency chemical flooding agents, platform injection facilities, and produced liquid treatment technology. Since 2003, pilot tests and field applications were carried out in S, L, and JW oil fields, and predicted oil increment and good economic benefits have been achieved, which proved that offshore chemical EOR technology is feasible and economical. It has explored a new road for increasing the recovery of offshore oil fields and provided a solid technical guarantee for their economic and efficient development

    DialogBERT: Discourse-Aware Response Generation via Learning to Recover and Rank Utterances

    Recent advances in pre-trained language models have significantly improved neural response generation. However, existing methods usually view the dialogue context as a linear sequence of tokens and learn to generate the next word through token-level self-attention. Such token-level encoding hinders the exploration of discourse-level coherence among utterances. This paper presents DialogBERT, a novel conversational response generation model that enhances previous PLM-based dialogue models. DialogBERT employs a hierarchical Transformer architecture. To efficiently capture the discourse-level coherence among utterances, we propose two training objectives, including masked utterance regression and distributed utterance order ranking in analogy to the original BERT training. Experiments on three multi-turn conversation datasets show that our approach remarkably outperforms the baselines, such as BART and DialoGPT, in terms of quantitative evaluation. The human evaluation suggests that DialogBERT generates more coherent, informative, and human-like responses than the baselines with significant margins.Comment: Published as a conference paper at AAAI 202

    Digital Pre-distortion Technology For Optimization Design Of VDB Transmitter

    Due to the nonlinear distortion of the power amplifier, the problems of in-band distortion and Adjacent Channel Interference will occur in VDB transmitter .To address the problem ,this paper introduces a digital pre-distortion method based on memoryless polynomial model ,which can solve the coefficients of digital pre-distorter with indirect learning structure. The results show that the digital pre-distortion method can effectively improve the third-order intermodulation distortion, the adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) and the error vector amplitude (EVM) of VDB transmitter, and it can also improve the performance and efficiency of the communication system

    Continuous Decomposition of Granularity for Neural Paraphrase Generation

    While Transformers have had significant success in paragraph generation, they treat sentences as linear sequences of tokens and often neglect their hierarchical information. Prior work has shown that decomposing the levels of granularity~(e.g., word, phrase, or sentence) for input tokens has produced substantial improvements, suggesting the possibility of enhancing Transformers via more fine-grained modeling of granularity. In this work, we propose a continuous decomposition of granularity for neural paraphrase generation (C-DNPG). In order to efficiently incorporate granularity into sentence encoding, C-DNPG introduces a granularity-aware attention (GA-Attention) mechanism which extends the multi-head self-attention with: 1) a granularity head that automatically infers the hierarchical structure of a sentence by neurally estimating the granularity level of each input token; and 2) two novel attention masks, namely, granularity resonance and granularity scope, to efficiently encode granularity into attention. Experiments on two benchmarks, including Quora question pairs and Twitter URLs have shown that C-DNPG outperforms baseline models by a remarkable margin and achieves state-of-the-art results in terms of many metrics. Qualitative analysis reveals that C-DNPG indeed captures fine-grained levels of granularity with effectiveness.Comment: Accepted to be published in COLING 202

    A novel biosensor based on Au@Ag core-shell nanoparticles for sensitive detection of methylamphetamine with surface enhanced Raman scattering

    We describe a novel biosensing strategy for sensitive detection of methylamphetamine (MAMP) based on surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) by the mediation of spacing between 4-mercaptobenzoic acid (4-MBA) labeled Au@Ag core-shell nanoparticles (Au@Ag). To achieve a favorable SERS substrate, Au@Ag shell-core nanoparticle was synthesized with seeds growth method and well characterized by SEM, TEM and UV-vis spectrometer. The uniform Au@Ag shows an excellent dispersion ability for SERS detection. Under the optimized conditions, the novel biosensor shows a good logarithm linear correlation with the concentration of MAMP ranging from 0.5 ppb to 40 ppb (R = 0.986), with a limit of detection at 0.16 ppb of MAMP (3σ). Furthermore, our biosensors hold an excellent selectivity, demonstrated by the negligible interference from the detection of other illicit drugs and metabolites. The concentrations determined with our biosensor from spiked MAMP in human urine sample fell within the same range with the results from mass spectrometry. This indicates that our sensor has a clear potential for the rapid detection of illicit drug in real samples

    Identification of a Novel 0.7-kb Polyadenylated Transcript in the LAT Promoter Region of HSV-1 That Is Strain Specific and May Contribute to Virulence

    AbstractHerpes Simplex virus expresses latency-associated transcripts (LATs) the function of which remains obscure despite increasing knowledge of their structure and expression. Upstream of the LAT coding region is a region of the genome that is poorly characterized although it lies in an area that is responsible for modulation of reactivation efficiency in two different animal models. Transcript mapping with strains 17, McKrae, KOS, and F has revealed strain differences in this region of the viral genome. Strain 17 and McKrae expressed a novel polyadenylated 0.7-kb transcript that is absent from KOS and F. This transcript is expressed in the LAT direction and has the kinetics of a true late gene during the lytic cycle of infection. A deletion mutant, 17ΔBsa, which does not express the 0.7-kb RNA, is less virulent than the parental strain 17. A rescuant with F sequence (17ΔBsa/RF) shows virulence similar to F, whereas a rescuant with strain 17 sequence (17ΔBsa/R17) is similar to strain 17. Virulence is altered by deletion or substitution in the region encoding the 0.7-kb transcript (BsaI-BsaI); however, reactivation in the mouse explant cocultivation assay or the adrenergically induced rabbit reactivation model remained unchanged.
