The Laplacian Eigenvalues and Invariants of Graphs

In this paper, we investigate some relations between the invariants (including vertex and edge connectivity and forwarding indices) of a graph and its Laplacian eigenvalues. In addition, we present a sufficient condition for the existence of Hamiltonicity in a graph involving its Laplacian eigenvalues.Comment: 10 pages,Filomat, 201

Bridging Role Of Absorptive Capacity For Knowledge Management Systems Success

    Get PDF
This paper aims to gain a better understanding of KMS success. Based on the absorptive capacity theory, we develop a research model to explain how the use of KMS increases organizational performance by increasing the organizational absorptive capacity and the higher order capabilities. The absorptive capacity plays an important role in transforming KMS usage into agility and innovativeness and the sequent organizational performance. The model is empirically tested with a survey. The results support the mediation effect of absorptive capacity on the use of KMS and the two higher order organizational capabilities, the mediation effects of the two superior organizational capabilities on the relationship between KMS usage and organizational performance and the mediation effect on the link between absorptive capacity and performance

Developing Knowledge Absorptive Capacity of SMEs in China

Small and medium-sized enterpreises (SMEs) are a crucial driver of the fast growing Chinese economy. This study aims to investigate how the external structures influence SMEs’ knowledge absorptive capacity for competence enhancement and performance improvement. Taking the “structure-conduct-performance” paradigm as an overarching framework, this research extends and enriches this framework by integrating social networking theory and absorptive capacity theory into it. More specific, we partition the “structure” into environmental structure and social network structure outside of a focal firm, and specify the “conduct” as knowledge absorptive capacity development including knowledge acquisition and transformation. To verify our research model, a survey method is employed involving 77 SMEs from China. The results show the distinct roles of environmental hostility, customer network ties, and knowledge absorptive capacities on SMEs’ performance. Theoretical contributions and managerial implications are also discussed

Physiological and Metabolomic Alterations in Macrocystis pyrifera upon Exposure to Chromium(VI)

1593-1599In order to comprehensively characterize the effects of chromium (VI) on physiological and metabonomic performance of Macrocystis pyrifera, the sporophytes were exposed to 2 mg L-1 potassium dichromate for 3 days. M. pyrifera sporophytes showed decreased pigment content and Chla fuloresecnece parameters with the accumulation of Cr(VI). The carbon content was clearly increased, while the content of nitrogen, hydrogen and sulfur were little changed. Moreover, an untargeted metabolomic analysis was carried out in order to investigate the metabolic effects and to obtain a comprehensive profiling of induced metabolites during Cr stress. Absolute quantification of 14 different metabolites was obtained through GC-MS methods. The principal component analysis showed a clear separation between control and Cr treated samples. Some pathways including carbon fixation, sulfur metabolism, taurine and hypotaurine metabolism were affected by Cr (VI) stress. These findings provided valuable information to elucidate the mechanism of M. pyrifera upon Cr (VI) stress

Emergent management of penetrating trauma of aortic arch in a countryside hospital

AbstractAccording to the literature, only a small proportion of occurrences regarding penetrating trauma of the thoracic aorta can be treated successfully. Herein we reported our experience of a recent rescue of such a patient in a countryside hospital lacking advanced instruments for cardiopulmonary bypass operations. A 20-year-old male was admitted for a penetrating injury with disrupted innominate vein and right common carotid artery together with a 1.5-cm laceration on the aortic arch between the innominate artery and the left common carotid artery. The patient was successfully saved without the implementation of cardiopulmonary bypass. Presentation and management in this case were discussed

REVISITING THE EFFECT OF SOCIAL CAPITAL ON KNOWLEDGE SHARING IN WORK TEAMS: A MULTILEVEL APPROACH

    Get PDF
Given the nested nature of work teams, this study distinguishes social capital between team-levels and individual-levels to investigate their effects on individual knowledge sharing in work teams. A survey was conducted to test the hypotheses involving 343 participants who were nested in 47 knowledge-intensive teams across 9 Chinese organizations. Our results reveal that social capital at different levels conjointly influences individuals’ sharing of their explicit and tacit knowledge and also plays distinct roles on the individuals’ sharing behavior in work team context. The results also demonstrate that an optimal social network configuration maximizes team members’ knowledge sharing. Our investigation from a multilevel approach articulates how social capital at different levels in conjunction influences individual sharing behavior, contributing to the existing social capital and social network theories as well as the literature of knowledge management
