The structure of -brane model
Recently, a family of interesting analytical brane solutions were found in
gravity with in Ref. [Phys. Lett. B 729, 127
(2014)]. In these solutions, inner brane structure can be turned on by tuning
the value of the parameter . In this paper, we investigate how the
parameter affects the localization and the quasilocalization of the
tensorial gravitons around these solutions. It is found that, in a range of
, despite the brane has an inner structure, there is no graviton
resonance. However, in some other regions of the parameter space, although the
brane has no internal structure, the effective potential for the graviton KK
modes has a singular structure, and there exists a series of graviton resonant
modes. The contribution of the massive graviton KK modes to the Newton's law of
gravity is discussed shortly.Comment: v2: 10 pages, 8 figures, to be published in EPJ
Response to the COVID-19 Epidemic: The Chinese Experience and Implications for Other Countries
The ongoing outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) that occurred in China is rapidly spreading globally. China’s bond and strict containment measures have been proved (in practice) to significantly reduce the spread of the epidemic. This was obtained through the use of emergency control measures in the epidemic areas and the integration of resources from multiple systems, including business, community, technology, education, and transportation, across the country. In order to better understand how China has managed to reduce the public health and economic impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic, this editorial systematically reviews the specific measures for infection prevention and control of the disease. The best practices for COVID-19 eradication in China provide evidence-based strategies that could be replicated in other countries.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Effects of Low-Level Laser Therapy and Eccentric Exercises in the Treatment of Patellar Tendinopathy
The study aims to investigate if low-level laser therapy (LLLT) combined with eccentric exercises could more effectively treat patellar tendinopathy than LLLT alone and eccentric exercises alone. Twenty-one patients with patellar tendinopathy were randomized to three groups: laser alone, exercise alone, or laser plus exercise, with seven in each group. Laser irradiations were administered at the inferior pole of the patella and the two acupoints of Extra 36 (Xiyan) with the intensity of 1592 mW/cm2. Eccentric training program consisted of three sets of 15 repetitions of unilateral squat on level ground. All patients received six treatments per week for four weeks. Knee pain and function and quadriceps muscle strength and endurance were evaluated at baseline and the end of treatment. After the 4-week intervention, all groups showed significant improvements in all the outcomes (P<0.01). The laser + exercise group had significantly greater improvements in all the outcomes than the other two groups (P<0.05), except nonsignificant difference in pain relief between the laser + exercise group and the laser group. In conclusion, LLLT combined with eccentric exercises is superior to LLLT alone and eccentric exercises alone to reduce pain and improve function in patients with patellar tendinopathy
