The purpose of this research is to discover the consumers’ buying behavior influence of information symbols in print advertisements, and also added the brand awareness and price range of the products as the interference, and to find out whether to increase or decrease the information symbols and page layout on purchasing behavior influence. A 3C electrical appliance retail channel in Taiwan has been applied as the research object, concentrating on the advertisement DM during the four promotions in 2013 and the sales volume. There were 1,196 product information and 136 3C electrical appliance brands. According to the variance analysis, the results indicated: First, some information symbols included the positive and negative effects on purchasing behavior; Second, overall, the interference effects only influenced low to medium brand awareness and low price range. In sum, the research generated both theoretical and practical implications and also provided future research advice.

Variation of the Fine-Structure Constant from the de Sitter Invariant Special Relativity

There are obvious discrepancies among various experimental constraints on the variation of the fine-structure constant, α\alpha. We attempt to discuss the issue in the framework of de Sitter invariant Special Relativity (SRc,R{\cal SR}_{c,R}) and to present a possible solution to the disagreement. In addition, on the basis of the observational data and the discussions presented in this Letter, we derive a rough theoretical estimate of the radius of the Universe.Comment: 8 pages, no figure

PinX1 regulation of telomerase activity and apoptosis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Human interacting protein X1 (PinX1) has been identified as a critical telomerase inhibitor and proposed to be a putative tumor suppressor gene. Loss of PinX1 has been found in a large variety of malignancies, however, its function in inhibiting telomerase activity of tumor cells is not well documented. Here we show that PinX1 is essential for down-regulation telomerase activity of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Expression vectors of human PinX1 (pEGFP-C3-PinX1) and its small interfering RNA (PinX1-FAM-siRNA) were constructed and transfected into NPC. Their effects on mRNA of telomerase catalytic subunit (hTERT), telomerase activity, cell proliferation, cell migration, wound healing, cell cycles and apoptosis were examined using semi-quantitative RT-PCR, stretch PCR, MTT assay, Transwell, scratch assay and flow cytometry, respectively.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Transfection of pEGFP-C3-PinX1 and PinX1-FAM-siRNA increased and reduced PinX1 mRNA by 1.6-fold and 70%, respectively. Over-expression of PinX1 decreased hTERT mRNA by 21%, reduced telomerase activity, inhibited cell growth, migration and wound healing ability, arrested cells in G0/G1 phase, and increased apoptotic index. In contrast, down-regulation of PinX1 did not alter the above characteristics.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>PinX1 may play important roles in NPC proliferation, migration and apoptosis and has application potential in tumor-targeted gene therapy.</p

Ionic liquid stabilized perovskite solar modules with power conversion efficiency exceeding 20%

Metal-halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) exhibit outstanding power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) when fabricated as mm-sized devices, but creation of high-performing large-area modules that are stable on a sufficiently long timescale still presents a significant challenge. Herein, the quality of large-area perovskite film is improved by using ionic liquid additives via forming a new Pb-N bonding between the ionic liquid and Pb2+. This new bond can be modulated by a critical screening of the anion structure of the ionic liquid. The selected ionic liquid effectively reduces the defects of the perovskite films and markedly elongate their carrier lifetimes. As a result, a champion PCE of 24.4% for small-area (0.148 cm2) devices and 20.4% for larger-area (10.0 cm2) modules under AM 1.5G irradiation is achieved. More importantly, the modified devices retain 90% of their peak PCE after aging for 1900 h at 65 ± 5 °C (ISOS-T-1) and 80% after continuous light soaking for 750 h. The non-encapsulated modules maintained 80% of their peak PCE after 1100 h of aging in the air with a relative humidity of 35 ± 5% and temperature of 25 ± 5 °C under dark (ISOS-D-1), showing great potential for future commercialization. This work was financially supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (91963209, 52002302, 22075221), the Natural Science Foundation of Hubei Provincial (2020CFB172, 2020CFA087), Foshan Xianhu Laboratory of the Advanced Energy Science and Technology Guangdong Laboratory (XHD2020-001), and the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities (WUT: 2020III032, 2021VA101, 2021IVB038). Mesaconine alleviates doxorubicin-triggered cardiotoxicity and heart failure by activating PINK1-dependent cardiac mitophagy

Aberrant mitophagy has been identified as a driver for energy metabolism disorder in most cardiac pathological processes. However, finding effective targeted agents and uncovering their precise modulatory mechanisms remain unconquered. Fuzi, the lateral roots of Aconitum carmichaelii, shows unique efficacy in reviving Yang for resuscitation, which has been widely used in clinics. As a main cardiotonic component of Fuzi, mesaconine has been proven effective in various cardiomyopathy models. Here, we aimed to define a previously unrevealed cardioprotective mechanism of mesaconine-mediated restoration of obstructive mitophagy. The functional implications of mesaconine were evaluated in doxorubicin (DOX)-induced heart failure models. DOX-treated mice showed characteristic cardiac dysfunction, ectopic myocardial energy disorder, and impaired mitophagy in cardiomyocytes, which could be remarkably reversed by mesaconine. The cardioprotective effect of mesaconine was primarily attributed to its ability to promote the restoration of mitophagy in cardiomyocytes, as evidenced by elevated expression of PINK1, a key mediator of mitophagy induction. Silencing PINK1 or deactivating mitophagy could completely abolish the protective effects of mesaconine. Together, our findings suggest that the cardioprotective effects of mesaconine appear to be dependent on the activation of PINK1-induced mitophagy and that mesaconine may constitute a promising therapeutic agent for the treatment of heart failure
