Convolution Powers of Salem Measures with Applications

We study the regularity of convolution powers for measures supported on Salem sets, and prove related results on Fourier restriction and Fourier multipliers. In particular we show that for $\alpha$ of the form ${d}/{n}, n=2,3,\cdots$ there exist $\alpha$-Salem measures for which the $L^2$ Fourier restriction theorem holds in the range $p\le \frac{2d}{2d-\alpha}$. The results rely on ideas of K\"orner. We extend some of his constructions to obtain upper regular $\alpha$-Salem measures, with sharp regularity results for $n$-fold convolutions for all $n\in \mathbb N$

A Literature Review on Li Hun and its English Versions

Li Hun, as one of the most satisfactory works of Lau Shaw, occupies an important position in his literary career and is regarded as a sign of the maturity of his literary creation. Up to now, it has been translated into two English versions, one by Evan King and the other by Helena Kuo and Lau Shaw. After carding relevant researches, it is found that the studies on Li Hun range from the literary features, artistic style to English versions’ reception while the researches on its English versions are conducted mainly from the aspects of aesthetic characteristics, cultural translation theory and translator’s subjectivity. Through the analysis of previous studies, the thesis aims to provide a reference for the study of Li Hun and its English versions.

Literature Review on Chen Zhong De Chi Bang

Chen Zhong De Chi Bang, which won the second Mao Dun Literary Prize in 1985, is a contemporary Chinese novel written by Zhang Jie. As one of the literature works for foreigners to learn about China, it has been translated into two English versions, one by Gladys Yang and the other by Howard Goldblatt. Through carding relevant documents, it is found that researches on Chen Zhong De Chi Bang focus on artistic features, different versions and English versions’ reception while studies on its English versions are mainly from translator’s subjectivity, feminism and translation strategies three aspects. After analyzing previous studies, the thesis hopes to provide a new perspective on studying Chen Zhong De Chi Bang

Employment of Reduplicated Words in E-C Translation of Children’s Literature: A Case Study of Ren Rongrong’s Translation of The Wind in the Willows

This thesis is to explore the application of reduplicated words in Chinese translation of children’s literature. It selects Ren Rongrong’s translation of The Wind in the Willows to conduct research. First, data collection and analysis of reduplicated words in the text are carried out. Then, from the three effects of reduplicated words, rhythmical effect, imaging effect, and emotional effect, the corresponding sentences in Ren Rongrong’s translation of The Wind in the Willows are selected and analyzed. Finally, it is concluded that reduplicated words are widely used in the English-Chinese translation of children’s literature. In the process of English-Chinese translation, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, nouns, quantifiers, numerals and onomatopoeia can be translated into reduplicated words when necessary. On the one hand, it can add language charm and make the translation more vivid, and on the other hand, it is easy for children to accept.
