Riesz Bases for p-Subordinate Perturbations of Normal Operators
For p-subordinate perturbations of unbounded normal operators, the change of
the spectrum is studied and spectral criteria for the existence of a Riesz
basis with parentheses of root vectors are established. A Riesz basis without
parentheses is obtained under an additional a priori assumption on the spectrum
of the perturbed operator. The results are applied to two classes of block
operator matrices.Comment: 30 pages, 4 figures, submitted to J. Funct. Ana
Hamiltonians with Riesz Bases of Generalised Eigenvectors and Riccati Equations
An algebraic Riccati equation for linear operators is studied, which arises
in systems theory. For the case that all involved operators are unbounded, the
existence of infinitely many selfadjoint solutions is shown. To this end,
invariant graph subspaces of the associated Hamiltonian operator matrix are
constructed by means of a Riesz basis with parentheses of generalised
eigenvectors and two indefinite inner products. Under additional assumptions,
the existence and a representation of all bounded solutions is obtained. The
theory is applied to Riccati equations of differential operators.Comment: 33 page
Digital maturity variables and their impact on the enterprise architecture layers
This study examines the variables of digital maturity of companies. The framework for enterprise architectures Archimate 3.0 is used to compare the variables. The variables are assigned to the six layers of architecture: Strategy, Business Environment, Applications, Technology, Physical and Implementation and Migration. On the basis of a literature overview, 15 “digital maturity models” with a total of 147 variables are analyzed. The databases Scopus, EBSCO – Business Source Premier and ProQuest are used for this purpose
On the Spectral Decomposition of Dichotomous and Bisectorial Operators
For an unbounded operator on a Banach space the existence of invariant
subspaces corresponding to its spectrum in the left and right half-plane is
proved. The general assumption on is the uniform boundedness of the
resolvent along the imaginary axis. The projections associated with the
invariant subspaces are bounded if is strictly dichotomous, but may be
unbounded in general. Explicit formulas for these projections in terms of
resolvent integrals are derived and used to obtain perturbation theorems for
dichotomy. All results apply, with certain simplifications, to bisectorial
operators
Dichotomous Hamiltonians with Unbounded Entries and Solutions of Riccati Equations
An operator Riccati equation from systems theory is considered in the case
that all entries of the associated Hamiltonian are unbounded. Using a certain
dichotomy property of the Hamiltonian and its symmetry with respect to two
different indefinite inner products, we prove the existence of nonnegative and
nonpositive solutions of the Riccati equation. Moreover, conditions for the
boundedness and uniqueness of these solutions are established.Comment: 31 pages, 3 figures; proof of uniqueness of solutions added; to

Autumn applications of sulphur – a new approach to control the pear leaf blister mite Eriophyes pyri
The pear leaf blister mite can cause severe damages to pear trees. By their hidden way of living inside
the leaf blisters, the mites are protected from plant protection agents. Until now, oil treatments
in early spring, when the mites leave their hibernation sites and invade the young leaves, are the
only possibility to control these mites. Because of the low temperatures during this period (February/
March) the efficacy of pesticides is often not reliable. The aim of this study was to assess the effects
of sulphur applied after harvest at the time, when mites are leaving the blisters and migrate to
the hibernation sites. The treatments were applied shortly after harvest to benefit from the mild temperatures
in September. Visual controls in following spring showed convincing results: With an efficacy
of 95% (one sulphur application in autumn) or 100% (three sulphur applications in autumn),
respectively, even a decontamination of heavily infested orchards is possible

Extension of the shoulder is essential for functional internal rotation after reverse total shoulder arthroplasty
BACKGROUND
Disabling loss of functional internal rotation (fIR) after reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) is frequent but not well understood. This study tested the hypothesis that limitation of fIR after RTSA is not primarily related to a deficit in internal rotation.
METHODS
Fifty patients (mean age at RTSA, 74 ± 11.7 years) who were consecutively seen at a yearly follow-up visit at 1-10 years (median, 4 years) after RTSA were prospectively examined with special attention to fIR. Patients with axillary nerve or deltoid dysfunction were excluded. Relative (age- and sex-adjusted) Constant-Murley scores (CSs) and Subjective Shoulder Values were assessed preoperatively and at final follow-up. In addition, active extension and 4 postoperative activities of daily living (ADLs) requiring fIR were tested at follow-up. Rotator cuff fatty infiltration and notching were evaluated radiographically. For analysis, patients were divided into a group with poor fIR (fIR-, n = 19), defined as ≤2 internal-rotation points in the CS, and a group with good fIR (fIR+, n = 31), defined as ≥4 internal-rotation points in the CS.
RESULTS
Active extension of the contralateral shoulders was comparable in the fIR- group (mean, 60.3° [standard deviation (SD), 11.2°]) and fIR+ group (66.1° [SD, 14.2°]). Postoperatively, a difference in active extension between the unaffected and operated sides was present in both groups and averaged 16° (55° [SD, 14.3°] in fIR+ group and 39.1° [SD, 10.8°] in fIR- group; P < .001). No patient in the fIR+ group had active extension < 40° (range, 40°-85°). Shoulders with extension ≥ 40° but unsatisfactory fIR had restricted passive internal rotation in extension. The ability to perform ADLs behind the back correlated better with shoulder extension than with so-called fIR measurements in the CS.
CONCLUSION
Functional internal rotation after RTSA requires at least 40° of shoulder extension. If fIR is unsatisfactory despite 40° of extension, passive restriction of internal rotation in full extension is the limiting factor. It is crucial to preserve or restore active shoulder extension to allow ADLs involving internal rotation
