An overview of ADSL homed nepenthes honeypots in Western Australia

This paper outlines initial analysis from research in progress into ADSL homed Nepenthes honeypots. One of the Nepenthes honeypots prime objective in this research was the collection of malware for analysis and dissection. A further objective is the analysis of risks that are circulating within ISP networks in Western Australian. What differentiates Nepenthes from many traditional honeypot designs it that is has been engineered from a distributed network philosophy. The program allows distribution of results across a network of sensors and subsequent aggregation of malware statistics readily within a large network environment

Advancements in medicine from aerospace research

A program designed to find second applications for space technology in the medical field is described. Illustrative examples and clinical test results are included for prosthetic urethral devices, ear oximeter for monitoring leukemia patients, devices for measuring low level CO effects on automobile drivers, radiation dosimeter probe for detecting radiation levels in cancerous areas, and electromyographic muscle trainer

Comment on "On the negative value of dielectric permittivity of the water surface layer" [Appl. Phys. Lett. 83, 4506 (2003)]

The recent interpretation of the positive resonance frequency shift in dielectric resonators loaded by water is reviewed. Instead of the invoked negative dielectric constant of water surface layer, it is demonstrated that the experimental results are fully reproduced by taking into account the dielectric losses of the sample.Comment: PDF Acrobat 4.0 file, 2 pages, 2 figures, submitted to Appl. IPS guidestar selection for stellar mode (ASTRO)

This report describes how guide stars are selected for the Optical Sensor Package (OSP) for the Instrument Pointing System (IPS) when it is operating in the stellar mode on the ASTRO missions. It also describes how the objective loads are written and how the various roll angles are related; i.e., the celestial roll or position angle, the objective load roll angles, and the IPS gimbal angles. There is a brief description of how the IPS operates and its various modes of operation; i.e., IDOP, IDIN, and OSPCAL
