Polydora rickettsi, a New Species of Spionid Polychaete from Lower California
Volume: 15Start Page: 78End Page: 8
The genus Boccardia (Polychaeta: Spionidae) associated with mollusc shells on the south coast of South Africa
Three species of Boccardia (B. polybranchia, B. pseudonatrix and B. proboscidea) were associated with mollusc shells on the south and south-east coasts of South Africa. Boccardia polybranchia was widely distributed along the coast and falls within the known distribution range of this species. Comparisons with material from other, international, locations showed that some specimens have been misidentified. No characters could be found to characterize distinct species for different regions within the range of B. polybranchia, as currently recognized. Boccardia pseudonatrix was found only at the most eastern site, increasing its known distribution range. Boccardia proboscidea, a non-indigenous species, was found only on abalone farms and was most abundant in the west
Polydora and Related Genera (Annelida, Polychaeta) from Eniwetok, Majuro, and Bikini Atolls, Marshall Islands
In a study of more than 250 specimens of spionid polychaetes collected
at Eniwetok, Majuro, and Bikini atolls, Marshall Islands (1956 and 1957)
five new and two known species were found.
One of the species (T. spinosa) is the type for a new genus, Tripolydora, which
is closely related to Polydora, Pseudopolydora, and Boccardia by virtue of its modified
fifth segment. It is unusual in having branchiae on the fifth segment, and the
hooded hooks are trifid and begin on Segment 9. The other new species are
Pseudopolydora corallicola, Pseadopolydora pigmentata, and Polydora tridenticulata
from coral material, and Pseudopolydora reisbi from areas of pollution. The known
forms, Pseudopolydora antennata Claparede and Polydora armata Langerhans, are
considered in reference to the literature.
The ecologic and systematic positions of the seven species are discusse

A Review of the Genus Boccardia Carazzi (Polychaeta: Spionidae) with Descriptions of the New Species
Taxonomic characteristics of 14 species of Boccardia are compiled in the form of a table. Each species is further distinguished in a key. Boccardia ligerica Ferronniere is redescribed with new synonymies. Two new species, B. berkeleyorum and B. chilensis are described
