FLOW INVESTIGATIONS ON THE SUBSTRATE DELIVERY SYSTEM IN A GAS BURNER

Applied combustion systems should ensure the optimal safety of operation and required qualitative parameters of a technological process. Selection of the path equipment components is determined by pressure drops resulting from local flow resistances and by the utilisation requirements of a heated device. Their flow characteristics as well as methods for calculating pressure drops in the system and local resistance numbers are presented. The combustion process was found to influence a change in the airflow characteristics, limiting the potential for achieving the nominal power of the burner with no increased overpressure of the combustion air. The determined flow characteristics and local resistance number values can be used for the algorithms of burner designs in order to obtain optimal operating parameters

SwePol Link, nuevo estándar medioambiental para la transmisión de HVDC

Actualmente se encuentran en servicio seis enlaces por cable -todos ellos de HVDC (corriente continua de Alta Tensión)- entre las redes de energía eléctrica de la Europa continental y la región nórdica; otros cinco enlaces están en fase de proyecto. El último que entró en funcionamiento es el enlace SwePol Link, que conecta las redes eléctricas de Polonia y Suecia. Se trata de un caso único por el hecho de que, a diferencia de las instalaciones más antiguas, que dependen de estaciones de electrodos para transmitir la corriente de retorno bajo tierra o bajo el agua, esta utiliza un cable XLPE de 20 kV para transportar dicha corriente. El cable submarino HVDC, de Alta Tensión, que se ha utilizado en SwePol Link, ha sido diseñado para 600 MW y 450 kV

La adjudicación de un contrato para la gestión total de los miles de motores de una gran planta industrial hizo recaer en ABB la responsabilidad de mantenerlos en buenas condiciones de funcionamiento. Esta responsabilidad, un claro problema de costes, depende obviamente del mantenimiento. ABB puso máximo interés en conseguir un mantenimiento lo más eficiente posible, lo que implica un gran rigor en cuanto a la frecuencia del mismo. ARMADACMS ha sido desarrollado para hacerse cargo de este tipo de tareas. El sistema almacena todos los datos de las máquinas -intensidades, temperaturas, análisis de sistemas de accionamiento, entre otros muchos- en una sola base de datos y proporciona al usuario una 'imagen total', indicándole cuándo se ha producido un problema y la gravedad del mismo

Performance of passive matrix ferroelectric liquid crystal display with analog grey levels

Ferroelectric liquid crystals (FLC) are suitable materials for low power and low cost flat panel displays. In this paper fabrication and performance of a surface stabilised ferroelectric liquid crystal display with analog grey scale levels are reported. Grey shades are produced by width control of FLC microdomains by means of a gradient of electric field distributed over the pixel, between adiacent columns. Such gradient, depending on the data voltages is achieved by using high resistance film deposited on the column substrate. A discussion is made about the choice of teflon layers, easily deposited by friction, to align the smectic liquid crystal molecule layers. The overall fabrication process is low cost and produces shock resistant displays. The choice of the addressing mode is riported. Optical response of the display shows very low hysteresis and sticking effect under driving conditions
