Determination of polarized parton distribution functions and their uncertainties
We investigate the polarized parton distribution functions (PDFs) and their
uncertainties by using the world data on the spin asymmetry A_1. The
uncertainties of the polarized PDFs are estimated by the Hessian method. The up
and down valence-quark distributions are determined well. However, the
antiquark distributions have large uncertainties at this stage, and it is
particularly difficult to fix the gluon distribution. The \chi^2 analysis
produces a positively polarized gluon distribution, but even \Delta g(x)=0
could be allowed according to our uncertainty estimation. In comparison with
the previous AAC (Asymmetry Analysis Collaboration) parameterization in 2000,
accurate SLAC-E155 proton data are added to the analysis. We find that the E155
data improve the determination of the polarized PDFs, especially the polarized
antiquark distributions. In addition, the gluon-distribution uncertainties are
reduced due to the correlation with the antiquark distributions. We also show
the global analysis results with the condition \Delta g(x)=0 at the initial
scale, Q^2=1 GeV^2, for clarifying the error correlation effects with the gluon

Parton-Hadron Duality in Unpolarised and Polarised Structure Functions
We study the phenomenon of parton-hadron duality in both polarised and
unpolarised electron proton scattering using the HERMES and the Jefferson Lab
data, respectively. In both cases we extend a systematic perturbative QCD based
analysis to the integrals of the structure functions in the resonance region.
After subtracting target mass corrections and large x resummation effects, we
extract the remaining power corrections up to order 1/Q^2. We find a sizeable
suppression of these terms with respect to analyses using deep inelastic
scattering data. The suppression appears consistently in both polarised and
unpolarised data, except for the low Q^2 polarised data, where a large negative
higher twist contribution remains. Possible scenarios generating this behavior

Contemporary percutaneous treatment of unprotected left main coronary stenoses: initial results from a multicenter registry analysis 1994-1996.
BACKGROUND: Coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) has been considered the therapy of choice for patients with unprotected left main (ULMT) coronary stenoses. Selected single-center reports suggest that the results of percutaneous intervention may now approach those of CABG. METHODS AND RESULTS: To assess the results of percutaneous ULMT treatment from a wide variety of experienced interventional centers, we requested data on consecutive patients treated after January 1, 1994, from 25 centers. One hundred seven patients were identified who were treated either electively (n=91) or for acute myocardial infarction (n=16). Of patients treated electively, 25% were considered inoperable, and 27% were considered high risk for bypass surgery. Primary treatment included stents (50%), directional atherectomy (24%), and balloon angioplasty (20%). Follow-up was 98.8% complete at 15+/-8 months. A model for the dependence of polarized structure functions
We present an update of a phenomenological model for the spin dependent
structure functions of the proton and neutron. This model is based
on a broken SU(6) wavefunction parametrized by the unpolarized structure
functions. The two free parameters of the model are choosen to fulfill the
Bjorken and Ellis--Jaffe sum rules. The model respects isospin symmetry and has
zero strange sea polarization. Using new values for from hyperon beta
decay the resulting dependent asymmetries are in perfect agreement
with the existing data. Therefore we do not see any evidence for a ``spin
crisis''. With two choices for the dependence of and

Measurements of R=sigma_L/sigma_T for 0.03<x<0.1 and Fit to World Data
Measurements were made at SLAC of the cross section for scattering 29 GeV
electrons from carbon at a laboratory angle of 4.5 degrees, corresponding to
0.03<x<0.1 and 1.3<Q^2<2.7 GeV^2. Values of R=sigma_L/sigma_T were extracted in
this kinematic range by comparing these data to cross sections measured at a
higher beam energy by the NMC collaboration. The results are in reasonable
agreement with pQCD calculations and with extrapolations of the R1990
parameterization of previous data. A new fit is made including these data and

Next-to-Leading Order QCD Analysis of Polarized Deep Inelastic Scattering Data
We present a Next-to-Leading order perturbative QCD analysis of world data on
the spin dependent structure functions , and , including
the new experimental information on the dependence of . Careful
attention is paid to the experimental and theoretical uncertainties. The data
constrain the first moments of the polarized valence quark distributions, but
only qualitatively constrain the polarized sea quark and gluon distributions.
The NLO results are used to determine the dependence of the ratio
and evolve the experimental data to a constant . We
determine the first moments of the polarized structure functions of the proton
