    Insights from Niche Markets: Explainable and Predictive Values of Consumption Tendency on Credit Risks

    The rapid development of FinTech drives the growing popularity of digital payment transactions. This phenomenon, especially given the increasing number of offline and online transactions being recorded in a real-time manner, offers great opportunities for financial service platforms to track consumers’ consumption tendencies and dynamically monitor and evaluate their creditworthiness. In our recent research, we first theorized the value of category-level consumption tendency based on the self-regulatory theory and employed econometric methods to empirically test the relationship between category-level consumption tendency and credit behavior. Then, we proposed a Deep Hierarchical Partial Attention-based Model (DHPAM) to predict credit default risk with full employment of product category features. We provided strong experimental evidence to show that the proposed DHPAM outperforms the state-of-the-art machine learning models. This paper, based on theories, empirical analyses, and a prediction model, offers comprehensive and practical guidance on the optimal utilization of consumption information in credit risk management

    Analysis of Demographic Characteristics and Psychological Factors of Opioid Addicts in Zhengzhou Area

    Objective: To explore the demographic characteristics and psychological factors of patients with opioid addiction. Methods: A random number method was used to select 200 opioid-addicted patients admitted to the 7th People’s Hospital of Zhengzhou from January 2019 to February 2020. Demographic characteristics and psychosocial factors were analyzed. Result: The proportion of opioid addicts aged 21 ~ 30 was the highest; the proportion of men was significantly higher; the proportion of people who is between jobs/unemployed is the highest; the proportion of junior middle school was the highest, and the proportion of unmarried was relatively high; the proportion of opioid addicts with ignorance/curiosity for the cause of first addiction was the highest; the use of suction is snorting, accounting for the highest proportion. According to the analysis of relevant social and psychological factors, the proportion of single parent family group is the highest, the proportion of parent tension is the highest, and the proportion of bad life coping style is relatively high. At the same time, dependent psychology occupies the highest proportion in psychological factors of relapse patients. Conclusion: By analyzing the demographic characteristics of opioid addicts and the psychosocial factors of their addiction, we can strengthen prevention and management for specific groups to reduce the new addition and relapse of opioid addicts

    We study the relation between the metallicity of quasar broad line region (BLR) and black hole (BH) mass (10(7.5)-10(10) M-circle dot) and quasar bolometric luminosity (10(44.6)-10(48) erg s(-1)) using a sample of similar to 130000 quasars at 2.25 <= z <= 5.25 from Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 12 (DR12). We generate composite spectra by stacking individual spectra in the same BH mass (bolometric luminosity) and redshift bins and then estimate the metallicity of quasar BLR using metallicity-sensitive broad emission-line flux ratios based on the photoionization models. We find a significant correlation between quasar BLR metallicity and BH mass (bolometric luminosity) but no correlation between quasar BLR metallicity and redshift. We also compare the metallicity of quasar BLR and that of host galaxies inferred from the mass metallicity relation of star-forming galaxy at z similar to 2.3 and 3.5. We find quasar BLR metallicity is 0.3 similar to 1.0 dex higher than their host galaxies. This discrepancy cannot be interpreted by the uncertainty due to different metallicity diagnostic methods, mass metallicity relation of galaxy, metallicity gradient in quasar host galaxies, BH mass estimation, the effect of different spectral energy distribution models, and a few other potential sources of uncertainties. We propose a possibility that the high metallicity in quasar BLR might be caused by metal enrichment from massive star formation in the nucleus region of quasars or even the accretion disc

    Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS) is a rare autosomal dominant genetic disorder characterized by mucocutaneous pigmentation and multiple hamartomatous polyps in the gastrointestinal tracts. About 11% of female PJS patients are diagnosed with Gastric-type endocervical adenocarcinoma (G-EAC) and about one third have a sex-cord tumor with annular tubules (SCTATs). Gastric-type endocervical adenocarcinoma is a special subtype of cervical adenocarcinoma which accounts for only 1–3%. Here we report a rare case of a 31-year-old woman affected with G-EAC and SCTAT accompanied by PJS. After surgery, we followed up for 5 years without recurrence

    Circular RNA Expression Profile in Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma Revealed by Microarray

    Background/Aims: A growing body of evidence has suggested that circular RNAs (circRNAs) have crucial functions in the regulation of gene expression, and their dysregulation has been implicated in various types of cancers. However, the roles of circRNAs in laryngeal cancer remain largely unknown. This study investigated the global changes in the expression pattern of circRNAs in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) to identify potential differentially expressed circRNAs. Methods: Microarray-based circRNA expression was determined in LSCC and paired normal laryngeal tissues. Pathway analyses of the genes producing differentially expressed circRNAs were performed to predict the function of circRNAs using standard enrichment computational methods. Expression levels of candidate circRNAs and microRNAs (miRNAs) were detected by quantitative real-time PCR. The circRNA/ miRNA interactions were constructed using bioinformatics methods to predict the binding of miRNA with circRNA. Results: We identified 506 differentially expressed circRNAs from human LSCC and normal laryngeal mucosa tissues. We confirmed that hsa_circ_0044520 and hsa_circ_0044529 were significantly upregulated in LSCC tissues. The most likely potential target miRNAs for hsa_ circ_0044520 and hsa_circ_0044529 were hsa-miR-4726-5p and hsa-miR-4640-5p, respectively. Functional analysis showed that hsa_circ_0044520 and hsa_circ_0044529 were involved in the process of collagen synthesis. Conclusion: Competitive endogenous RNA network prediction and bioinformatics functional analysis revealed that hsa_circ_0044520 and hsa_circ_0044529 play important regulatory roles by sponging hsa-miR-4726-5p and hsa-miR-4640-5p, thereby providing novel insights into the tumorigenesis of LSCC

    CD151 Drives Cancer Progression Depending on Integrin α3β1 through EGFR Signaling in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

    Background Tetraspanins CD151, a transmembrane 4 superfamily protein, has been identified participating in the initiation of a variety of cancers. However, the precise function of CD151 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains unclear. Here, we addressed the pro-tumoral role of CD151 in NSCLC by targeting EGFR/ErbB2 which favors tumor proliferation, migration and invasion. Methods First, the mRNA expression levels of CD151 in NSCLC tissues and cell lines were measured by RT-PCR. Meanwhile, CD151 and its associated proteins were analyzed by western blotting. The expression levels of CD151 in NSCLC samples and its paired adjacent lung tissues were then verified by Immunohistochemistry. The protein interactions are evaluated by co-immunoprecipitation. Flow cytometry was applied to cell cycle analysis. CCK-8, EdU Incorporation, and clonogenic assays were used to analyze cell viability. Wound healing, transwell migration, and matrigel invasion assays were utilized to assess the motility of tumor cells. To investigate the role of CD151 in vivo, lung carcinoma xenograft mouse model was applied. Results High CD151 expression was identified in NSCLC tissues and cell lines, and its high expression was significantly associated with poor prognosis of NSCLC patients. Further, knockdown of CD151 in vitro inhibited tumor proliferation, migration, and invasion. Besides, inoculation of nude mice with CD151-overexpressing tumor cells exhibited substantial tumor proliferation compared to that in control mice which inoculated with vector-transfected tumor cells. Noteworthy, we found that overexpression of CD151 conferred cell migration and invasion by interacting with integrins. We next sought to demonstrate that CD151 regulated downstream signaling pathways via activation of EGFR/ErbB2 in NSCLC cells. Therefore, we infer that CD151 probably affects the sensitivity of NSCLC in response to anti-cancer drugs. Conclusions Based on these results, we demonstrated a new mechanism of CD151-mediated tumor progression by targeting EGFR/ErbB2 signaling pathway, by which CD151 promotes NSCLC proliferation, migration, and invasion, which may considered as a potential target of NSCLC treatment

    Bilateral globus pallidus interna deep brain stimulation in the treatment of mixed cerebral palsy in ataxia with dyskinesia: a case report

    BackgroundCerebral palsy (CP), a complex syndrome with multiple etiologies, is characterized by a range of movement disorders within the hypokinetic and hyperkinetic spectrum (dystonia or choreoathetosis). CP is often accompanied by neurological and psychiatric signs, such as spasticity, ataxia, and cognitive disorders. Although current treatment options for CP include pharmacological interventions, rehabilitation programs, and spasticity relief surgery, their effectiveness remains limited. Deep brain stimulation (DBS) has demonstrated significant effectiveness in managing dyskinesia; however, its potential therapeutic effect on CP remains determined.MethodsWe present a case of a 44-year-old Asian female who was born as a twin with neonatal ischemic–hypoxic encephalopathy due to prolonged labor and delivery. She was diagnosed with CP at the age of 1 year. The patient exhibited delayed development compared to her peers and presented with various symptoms, including slurred speech, broad-based gait, horseshoe inversion of the right lower extremity, involuntary shaking of the upper extremities bilaterally, and hypotonia and showed no improvement with levodopa therapy. Two years ago, she developed progressive head tremors, which worsened during periods of tension and improved during sleep. As medical treatments proved ineffective and there were no contraindications to surgery, we performed bilateral globus pallidus interna DBS (GPi-DBS) to alleviate her motor dysfunction.ResultsFollowing a 6-month follow-up, the patient demonstrated significant improvements in motor symptoms, including head and limb tremors and dystonia. In addition, significant improvement was observed in her overall psychological well-being, as evidenced by reduced anxiety and depression levels.ConclusionDBS is an effective treatment for dyskinesia symptoms associated with CP in adults. Moreover, its effectiveness may continue to increase over time
