    The reaction of cobalt(II) sulfate and 2-aminopyrazine affords the title salt, [Co(H2O)6][Co(C4H5N3)2(H2O)4](SO4)2·2H2O. The metal atoms in the tetraaqua-coordinated and hexaaqua-coordinated complex cations lie on centers of inversion in slightly distorted octahedral geometries. The cations, anions and solvent water molecules are linked by O—H⋯O, O—H⋯N and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network

    μ-Adipato-κ2 O 1:O 4-bis{[2,6-bis(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl-κN 3)pyridine-κN](nitrato-κO)lead(II)}

    The dinuclear title compound, [Pb2(C6H8O4)(NO3)2(C19H13N5)2], lies with the mid-point of the butyl chain of the bridging adipate unit on a center of inversion. The PbII ion is covalently bonded to the nitrate anion and is bonded to a carboxylate group of the adipate unit by another covalent bond. The N-heterocycle functions in a chelating tridentate mode. The metal atom exists in a Ψ-octahedral coordination environment. When weaker Pb⋯O interactions are also considered, the geometry is a Ψ-tricapped trigonal prism in which the lone-pair electrons occupy one face of the trigonal prism. Adjacent molecules are linked into a layer structure by N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds

    Background: The relationship between survivin and extranodal, nasal-type natural killer/T cell lymphoma (ENKTCL) was unclearly established yet. We here studied the potential prognostic roles of survivin and its implication as a target in ENKTCL therapy. Methods: ENKTCL patients\u27 peripheral blood were collected and tested by ELISA. ENKTCL cell lines were cultured with or without survivin inhibitor and tested by MTT and Flow cytometry. According to the gene expression profiles from the ArrayExpress Archive under E-TABM-702, survivin co-regulated cluster was established by Coupled Two-way Clustering Algorithm. Results: Seventeen point six percent of total 17 ENKTCL patients were serum survivin-positive. These patients had poorer outcome than that of negative cases (P Conclusions: We concluded that survivin was a potential prognostic marker and a critical regulatory molecule in the pathological process of ENKTCL. It would be a promising target in drugs discovery for ENKTCL therapy

    Magnetic Borophenes from an Evolutionary Search

    Full text link
    A computational methodology based on ab initio evolutionary algorithms and spin-polarized density functional theory was developed to predict two-dimensional magnetic materials. Its application to a model system borophene reveals an unexpected rich magnetism and polymorphism. A metastable borophene with nonzero thickness is an antiferromagnetic semiconductor from first-principles calculations, and can be further tuned into a half-metal by finite electron doping. In this borophene, the buckling and coupling among three atomic layers are not only responsible for magnetism, but also result in an out-of-plane negative Poisson\u27s ratio under uniaxial tension, making it the first elemental material possessing auxetic and magnetic properties simultaneously

    Solution to Satisfiability problem by a complete Grover search with trapped ions

    Full text link
    The main idea in the original Grover search (Phys. Rev. Lett. 79, 325 (1997)) is to single out a target state containing the solution to a search problem by amplifying the amplitude of the state, following the Oracle's job, i.e., a black box giving us information about the target state. We design quantum circuits to accomplish a complete Grover search involving both the Oracle's job and the amplification of the target state, which are employed to solve Satisfiability (SAT) problems. We explore how to carry out the quantum circuits by currently available ion-trap quantum computing technology.Comment: 14 pages, 6 figure

    Bubble in the Whale: Identifying the Optical Counterparts and Extended Nebula for the Ultraluminous X-ray Sources in NGC 4631

    Full text link
    We present a deep optical imaging campaign on the starburst galaxy NGC 4631 with CFHT/MegaCam. By supplementing the HST/ACS and Chandra/ACIS archival data, we search for the optical counterpart candidates of the five brightest X-ray sources in this galaxy, four of which are identified as ultraluminous X-ray sources (ULXs). The stellar environments of the X-ray sources are analyzed using the extinction-corrected color-magnitude diagrams and the isochrone models. We discover a highly asymmetric bubble nebula around X4 which exhibits different morphology in the Hα\alpha and [O III] images. The [O III]/Hα\alpha ratio map shows that the Hα\alpha-bright bubble may be formed mainly via the shock ionization by the one-sided jet/outflow, while the more compact [O III] structure is photoionized by the ULX. We constrain the bubble expansion velocity and interstellar medium density with the MAPPINGS V code, and hence estimate the mechanical power injected to the bubble as Pw5×1040P_w \sim 5\times10^{40} erg s1^{-1} and the corresponding bubble age of 7×105\sim7\times 10^{5} yr. Relativistic jets are needed to provide such level of mechanical power with a mass-loss rate of 107 M yr1\sim10^{-7}\ M_{\odot}\ \rm yr^{-1}. Besides the accretion, the black hole spin is likely an additional energy source for the super-Eddington jet power.Comment: 17 pages, 10 figures, accepted by Ap

    Molecular Cloning and Analysis of the Tryptophan oxygenase Gene in the Silkworm, Bombyx mori

    Get PDF
    A Bombyx mori L. (Lepidoptera: Bombycidae) gene encoding tryptophan oxygenase has been molecularly cloned and analyzed. The tryptophan oxygenase cDNA had 1374 nucleotides that encoded a 401 amino acid protein with an estimated molecular mass of 46.47 kDa and a PI of 5.88. RT-PCR analysis showed that the B. mori tryptophan oxygenase gene was transcribed in all examined stages. Tryptophan oxygenase proteins are relatively well conserved among different orders of arthropods

    NSFC [21127005]; 973 Program [2013CB933703]; Doctoral Fund of MOE [20110121110011]; MOEAssembling nanoparticle-film metallic junctions with a spacing of up to tens of nanometers efficiently turned on fluorophores attached to the film from the quenching status to an intense surface plasmon-coupled emission. Benefiting from this new finding, a fluorescence biosensor was created based on the use of a biomolecule-linked plasmonic assembly as the trigger

    Effects of tobacco smoking on cardiovascular disease in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus: A systematic review and meta-analysis

    Get PDF
    BackgroundPatients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) are at increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) compared to the general population. However, little is known about the effects of tobacco smoking on CVD in patients with SLE.ObjectiveTo systematically review and summarize the available literature regarding the effects of tobacco smoking on developing CVD in patients with SLE.MethodsWe retrieved relevant studies from the following databases: PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science and China National Knowledge Internet (CNKI) database. Two reviewers independently reviewed the eligible studies, assessed their validity, and extracted relevant data. Sensitivity and subgroup analyses were performed to distinguish sources of heterogeneity.ResultsA total of 10 studies, which comprised 6984 participants, were included in the analysis. The overall quality of evidence was rated as moderate to low. The smoking prevalence among CVD patients was 39.28% (271/690), which was higher than 31.36% (1974/6294) among non-CVD patients. Compared with never-smokers, the risk of developing CVD in current smokers was 1.42 (95% CI: 1.21–1.66). No significant publication bias was found in our meta-analysis.ConclusionsIn spite of the several negative results, this study found that current smokers with SLE have an increased risk of developing CVD, although most of the included studies were in low-to-moderate quality.Systematic Review Registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/, identifier CRD42022338109
