Zinc 2-((2-(benzoimidazol-2-yl)quinolin-8-ylimino)methyl)phenolates : synthesis, characterization and photoluminescence behavior

    Get PDF
A series of 2-(2-(1H-benzoimidazol-2-yl)quinolin-8-yliminomethyl)phenol derivatives and their zinc complexes (C1 – C5) were synthesized and fully characterized. The molecular structure of the representative complex C2 was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction, which revealed that the zinc was five-coordinated with the tetra-dentate ligand and a methanol bound to the metal afford a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The UV-Vis absorption and fluorescence spectra of the organic compounds and their zinc complexes were measured and investigated in various solvents such as methanol, THF, dichloromethane, and toluene; significant influences by solvents were observed on their luminescent properties; red-shifts for the zinc complexes were clearly observed in comparisons to the free organic compounds

Effect of terrains on the volatiles of Cabernet Sauvignon wines grown in Loess Plateau region of China

Volatile compounds of young Cabernet Sauvignon wines from the flat and slope lands grown in Loess Plateau region (China) were investigated in this research. Among the volatile compounds analyzed by headspace solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME) with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), a total of 43 and 45 volatile compounds were identified and quantified in the flat and slope lands wines, respectively. In the volatiles detected, higher alcohols formed the most abundant group in the aroma components of two wines, followed by esters and fatty acids. According to their odor active values (OAVs) and relative odor contribution (ROC), the aromatic profiles for two wines were similar, showing only quantitative but not qualitative differences. Ethyl octanoate, ethyl hexanoate and isoamyl acetate were found to jointly contribute to 98.8 and 99.2% of the global aroma of the flat and slope wines, respectively. These odorants are associated with “fruity’’ and ‘‘ripe fruit’’ odor descriptors. Wine from flat land with higher OAVs of ethyl octanoate and isoamyl acetate seems to have more intense fruity aromas (pineapple, pear and banana), with floral notes. Keywords: Cabernet Sauvignon wines, volatiles, terrains, Loess Plateau region, headspace solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS

Transport properties of dense deuterium-tritium plasmas

Consistent descriptions of the equation of states, and information about transport coefficients of deuterium-tritium mixture are demonstrated through quantum molecular dynamic (QMD) simulations (up to a density of 600 g/cm3^{3} and a temperature of 10410^{4} eV). Diffusion coefficients and viscosity are compared with one component plasma model in different regimes from the strong coupled to the kinetic one. Electronic and radiative transport coefficients, which are compared with models currently used in hydrodynamic simulations of inertial confinement fusion, are evaluated up to 800 eV. The Lorentz number is also discussed from the highly degenerate to the intermediate region.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure

A Wavelet Neural Network for SAR Image Segmentation

    Get PDF
This paper proposes a wavelet neural network (WNN) for SAR image segmentation by combining the wavelet transform and an artificial neural network. The WNN combines the multiscale analysis ability of the wavelet transform and the classification capability of the artificial neural network by setting the wavelet function as the transfer function of the neural network. Several SAR images are segmented by the network whose transfer functions are the Morlet and Mexihat functions, respectively. The experimental results show the proposed method is very effective and accurate

Determination and Validation of Parameters for Riedel-Hiermaier-Thoma Concrete Model

Numerical modelling of the complex physical processes such as concrete structures subjected to high-impulsive loads relies on suitable material models appropriate for impact and explosion problems. One of theextensive used concrete material models, the RHT model, contains all essential features of concrete materialssubjected to high dynamic loading. However, the application of the RHT model requires a set of material propertiesand model parameters without which reliable results cannot be expected. The present paper provides adetailed valuation of the RHT model and proposes a method of determining the model parameters for C40 concrete.Furthermore, the dynamic compressive and tensile strength function of the model formulation are modified toenhance the performance of the model as implemented in the hydrocode AUTODYN. The performance of thedetermined parameters of the modified RHT model is demonstrated by comparing to available experimentaldata, and further verified via simulations of physical experiments of concrete penetration by steel projectiles. The results of numerical analyses are found closely match the penetration depth and the crater size in the frontsurface of the concrete targets.Defence Science Journal, 2013, 63(5), pp.524-530, DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.14429/dsj.63.386

Novel Brønsted-acidic ionic liquids based on benzothiazolium cations as catalysts for esterification reactions

    Get PDF
Three novel Brønsted-acidic ionic liquids based on benzothiazolium cations were prepared, which served as catalysts for the synthesis of benzoic esters. All three gave good yields of the target esters in esterification reactions. Moreover, they combine the advantages of both homogeneous and heterogeneous solid catalysts in esterification reactions, which enabled them to serve as homogeneous catalysts to catalyze the reactions and be conveniently recovered by simple filtration after the reactions. They could be reused several times without noticeable decrease in efficiency
