    Advances of endoscopic and surgical management in gastrointestinal stromal tumors

    As one of the most common mesenchymal malignancies in the digestive system, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) occur throughout the alimentary tract with diversified oncological characteristics. With the advent of the tyrosine kinase inhibitor era, the treatment regimens of patients with GISTs have been revolutionized and GISTs have become the paradigm of multidisciplinary therapy. However, surgery resection remains recognized as the potentially curative management for the radical resection and provided with favorable oncological outcomes. The existing available surgery algorithms in clinical practice primarily incorporate open procedure, and endoscopic and laparoscopic surgery together with combined operation techniques. The performance of various surgery methods often refers to the consideration of risk evaluation of recurrence and metastases; the degree of disease progression; size, location, and growth pattern of tumor; general conditions of selected patients; and indications and safety profile of various techniques. In the present review, we summarize the fundamental principle of surgery of GISTs based on risk assessment as well as tumor size, location, and degree of progress with an emphasis on the indications, strengths, and limitations of current surgery techniques

    Wavelet-based Fourier Information Interaction with Frequency Diffusion Adjustment for Underwater Image Restoration

    Underwater images are subject to intricate and diverse degradation, inevitably affecting the effectiveness of underwater visual tasks. However, most approaches primarily operate in the raw pixel space of images, which limits the exploration of the frequency characteristics of underwater images, leading to an inadequate utilization of deep models' representational capabilities in producing high-quality images. In this paper, we introduce a novel Underwater Image Enhancement (UIE) framework, named WF-Diff, designed to fully leverage the characteristics of frequency domain information and diffusion models. WF-Diff consists of two detachable networks: Wavelet-based Fourier information interaction network (WFI2-net) and Frequency Residual Diffusion Adjustment Module (FRDAM). With our full exploration of the frequency domain information, WFI2-net aims to achieve preliminary enhancement of frequency information in the wavelet space. Our proposed FRDAM can further refine the high- and low-frequency information of the initial enhanced images, which can be viewed as a plug-and-play universal module to adjust the detail of the underwater images. With the above techniques, our algorithm can show SOTA performance on real-world underwater image datasets, and achieves competitive performance in visual quality

    Modeling for Predicting the Time to Detection of Staphylococcal Enterotoxin A in Cooked Chicken Product

    Staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEs) produced by Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) are the cause of Saphylococcal food poisoning (SFP) outbreaks. Thus, estimation of the time to detection (TTD) of SEs, that is, the time required to reach the SEs detection limit, is essential for food preservation and quantitative risk assessment. This study was conducted to explore an appropriate method to predict the TTD of SEs in cooked chicken product under variable environmental conditions. An S. aureus strain that produces staphylococcal enterotoxin A (SEA) was inoculated into cooked chicken meat. Initial inoculating concentrations (approximately 102, 103, 104 CFU/g) of S. aureus and incubation temperatures (15 ± 1, 22 ± 1, 29 ± 1, and 36 ± 1°C) were chosen as environmental variables. The counting of S. aureus colonies and the detection of SEA were performed every 3 or 6 h during the incubation. The TTD of SEA was considered a response of S. aureus to environmental variables. Linear polynomial regression was used to model the effects of environmental variables on the TTD of SEA. Result showed that the correlation coefficient (R2) of the regressed equation is higher than 0.98, which means the obtained equation was reliable. Moreover, the minimum concentration of S. aureus for producing a detectable amount of SEA under various environmental conditions was approximately 6.32 log CFU/g, which was considered the threshold for S. aureus to produce SEA. Hence, the TTD of SEA could be obtained by calculating the time required to reach the threshold by using an established S. aureus growth predictive model. Both established methods were validated through internal and external validation. The results of graphical comparison, RMSE, SEP, Af, and Bf showed that the accuracy of both methods were acceptable, and linear polynomial regression method showed more accurately

    Investigating behavior inhibition in obsessive‐compulsive disorder: Evidence from eye movements

    We investigated the role of inhibition failure in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) through an eye tracking experiment. Twenty‐five subjects with OCD were recruited, as well as 25 with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and 25 healthy controls. A 3 (group: OCD group, GAD group and control group) × 2 (target eccentricity: far and near) × 2 (saccade task: prosaccade and antisaccade) mixed design was used, with all participants completing two sets of tasks involving both prosaccade (eye movement towards a target) and antisaccade (eye movement away from a target). The main outcome was the eye movement index, including the saccade latency (the time interval from the onset of the target screen to the first saccade) and the error rate of saccade direction. The antisaccade latency and antisaccade error rates for OCDs were much higher than those for GADs and healthy controls. OCDs had longer latency and error rates for antisaccades than for prosaccades, and for far‐eccentricity rather than near‐eccentricity stimuli. These results suggest that OCDs experience difficulty with behavior inhibition, and that they have higher visual sensitivity to peripheral stimuli. In particular, they show greatest difficulty in inhibiting behavior directed towards peripheral stimuli

    Relationships among organizational culture, knowledge acquisition, organizational learning, and organizational innovation in Taiwan's banking and insurance industries

    [[abstract]]This article investigates the relationships among organizational culture (OC), knowledge acquisition (KA), organizational learning (OL), and organizational innovation (OI) in Taiwan's banking and insurance industries. We use the top 100 financial enterprises in Taiwan published by Common Wealth Magazine in 2005 as the population and 23 of them are chosen as the sample in this study. A total of 785 questionnaires were issued and 449 valid replies were received. The research results indicate that OL serves as a partial mediator between OC and OI. In addition, this article finds that OC affects OL and innovation through KA. Furthermore, OL has a full mediation effect on KA and OI.[[incitationindex]]SSCI[[booktype]]電子版[[booktype]]紙

    Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection is closely associated with the development of chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer, and gastric cancer. However, the resistance rate of H. pylori strains to antibiotics such as clarithromycin, metronidazole, and levofloxacin has increased significantly, resulting in a significant decrease in the eradication efficacy of commonly used regimens. Tetracycline has received the attention of domestic and foreign scholars because of its low resistance. The purpose of this review is to provide an update on the tetracycline-containing bismuth quadruple eradication therapy for H. pylori infection and review the efficacy and safety of the regimens, hoping to provide guidance for clinical practice

    Gastroscopic Image Graph: Application to Noninvasive Multitarget Tracking under Gastroscopy

    Gastroscopic examination is one of the most common methods for gastric disease diagnosis. In this paper, a multitarget tracking approach is proposed to assist endoscopists in identifying lesions under gastroscopy. This approach analyzes numerous preobserved gastroscopic images and constructs a gastroscopic image graph. In this way, the deformation registration between gastroscopic images is regarded as a graph search problem. During the procedure, the endoscopist marks suspicious lesions on the screen and the graph is utilized to locate and display the lesions in the appropriate frames based on the calculated registration model. Compared to traditional gastroscopic lesion surveillance methods (e.g., tattooing or probe-based optical biopsy), this approach is noninvasive and does not require additional instruments. In order to assess and quantify the performance, this approach was applied to stomach phantom data and in vivo data. The clinical experimental results demonstrated that the accuracy at angularis, antral, and stomach body was 6.3 ± 2.4 mm, 7.6 ± 3.1 mm, and 7.9 ± 1.6 mm, respectively. The mean accuracy was 7.31 mm, average targeting time was 56 ms, and the P value was 0.032, which makes it an attractive candidate for clinical practice. Furthermore, this approach provides a significant reference for endoscopic target tracking of other soft tissue organs

    Suspect and Nontarget Screening Reveal the Underestimated Risks of Antibiotic Transformation Products in Wastewater Treatment Plant Effluents

    &lt;p&gt;This repository is supplementary to&nbsp;the manuscript "Suspect and Nontarget Screening Reveal the Underestimated Risks of Antibiotic Transformation Products in Wastewater Treatment Plant Effluents"&nbsp;(DOI: 10.1021/acs.est.3c05008).&nbsp;This&nbsp;repository contains&nbsp;scripts of TPs collection and QSRR model as well the generated data set.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;We compiled a suspect list of antibiotics containing 663 compounds. Corresponding suspect TPs were collected in silico with BioTransformer 3.0 and through a library search from PubChem data, which were both performed in batch mode using the patRoon 2.0 package. After merging results and removing duplicates, 88,823 TPs remained for suspect screening. Quantitative-structure retention relationship (QSRR) models were developed for the suspect antibiotics and TPs using target compounds to predict their retention times with the Retip package.&lt;/p&gt
