Information on policies, procedures, and regulations is recognized as essential for the operation of a school district. Thought many school districts have developed manuals carefully prepared for the general operation of a school district, little has been done in the area of written specific policies for classified employees in a school district. When a school district has written clear cut policy statements, individuals who are affected by them will be able to have a specific problem answered that was based on a good set of recorded policies and regulations and not on a momentary decision

Building on the Foundation of Process Safety by Incorporating Barrier Integrity Assurance

PresentationAs operating companies continue to strive for improvement in the areas of process safety and integrity management, the need for an integrated approach becomes more evident. Many operators have become adept at conducting inspection, maintenance, and testing activities for equipment and piping, but the program and strategy for ensuring the integrity of controls and barriers can be improved. Barrier Integrity Assurance (BIA) focuses on ensuring process safety fundamentals are appropriately applied to safety critical elements, barriers, and activities to ensure asset integrity in an organization. A comprehensive approach to BIA can provide a means of bringing together the activities already being undertaken, determine improvements that are needed, and provide assurance that assets are protected and Inspection, Testing, and Preventive Maintenance (ITPM) activities are planned, carried out, reported, and acted upon in an effective, efficient manner. It combines a process safety management framework with the identification and evaluation of operational hazards and integrity related threats to ultimately provide assurance that safety critical equipment and barriers in place are healthy. BIA provides a roadmap, or work process, that is applied to provide assurance throughout an asset’s lifecycle from design and development through operation and eventually decommissioning

A comparative analysis of African and Coloured employment in the Cape Peninsula, with specific reference to trends in employer and employee reactions to their work environment

Bibliography: leaves 208-213.This dissertation examines African and Coloured employment in the Cape Peninsula from a variety of perspectives. A descriptive analysis is given of the existing Cape employment situation which serves as a factual basis from which the reader can obtain an objective overview. Exploratory case studies probe certain aspects of the descriptive analysis to enable a more sensitive in-depth understanding of employment practices and current attitudes of employers and employees as they exist in the actual work environment. This dissertation seeks to make a contribution not only to the general discussion on employment, but more specifically by exploring certain important elements in the field of employment which have remained underexplored. It is hoped that investigative reports of this nature will generally contribute to a greater awareness and understanding on the part of management, decision makers and the public at large of the many problems in this field, and that in consequence more positive, systematic and comprehensive attempts can be made towards change. It must be noted at the outset that the situation in the Cape Peninsula is dissimilar in many respects from that in other parts of the country, and that the reader should not assume that this analysis describes a prototypical microcosm of the country

Topographie von Caveolae und Caveolin-1, -2 und -3 im Herz- und Skelettmuskel von Ratten

Die Topographie von Caveolae und Caveolin -1,-2 und -3 wurde anhand der Natrium Dodecyl Sulfat-Gefrierbruch-Immunzytochemie im Herz – und Skelettmuskel von Ratten untersucht. Caveolin -1, -2 und -3 stellen das Hauptprotein der Caveolae dar. Caveolae sind 50-100 nm große, im elektronenmikroskopischen Bild als glatt erscheinende Invaginationen der Plasmamembran. Erstmals ist es uns gelungen die Natrium Dodecyl Sulfat-Gefrierbruch-Immunzytochemie auch an Gewebestücken des Herz- und Skelettmuskels anzuwenden. Dadurch gelang es uns, Caveolin -1 in den Plasmamembranen der Kardiomyozyten und der Skelettmuskelzellen nachzuweisen. Bisher konnte die Natrium Dodecyl Sulfat-Gefrierbruch-Immunzytochemie nur zur Analyse von kultivierten Zellen oder Zellen in Suspensionskultur verwand werden. Die Ergebnisse bilden die Grundlage zur Ausweitung der Einsatzmöglichkeiten dieses Analyseverfahrens und zur Gewinnung neuer Erkenntnisse über Funktion des Caveolin -1 im Herzmuskel und in Skelettmuskelzellen

Specifically, research questions sought to determine principals\u27 perceptions of the possible effects of Nebraska state standards and whether or not differences existed between areas such as principals\u27 gender, age, schools\u27 free and reduced lunch percentage, school classification, years as an administrator, and amount of prior standards/assessment/accountability training
