Stability of spikes in the shadow Gierer-Meinhardt system with Robin boundary conditions

We consider the shadow system of the Gierer-Meinhardt system in a smooth bounded domain RN,At=2Aāˆ’A+,x, t>0, ||t=āˆ’||+Ardx, t>0 with the Robin boundary condition +aAA=0, x, where aA>0, the reaction rates (p,q,r,s) satisfy 1<p<()+, q>0, r>0, s0, 1<<+, the diffusion constant is chosen such that 1, and the time relaxation constant is such that 0. We rigorously prove the following results on the stability of one-spike solutions: (i) If r=2 and 1<p<1+4/N or if r=p+1 and 1<p<, then for aA>1 and sufficiently small the interior spike is stable. (ii) For N=1 if r=2 and 1<p3 or if r=p+1 and 1<p<, then for 0<aA<1 the near-boundary spike is stable. (iii) For N=1 if 3<p<5 and r=2, then there exist a0(0,1) and Āµ0>1 such that for a(a0,1) and Āµ=2q/(s+1)(pāˆ’1)(1,Āµ0) the near-boundary spike solution is unstable. This instability is not present for the Neumann boundary condition but only arises for the Robin boundary condition. Furthermore, we show that the corresponding eigenvalue is of order O(1) as 0. Performance Analysis of a Dual-Hop Cooperative Relay Network with Co-Channel Interference

    Get PDF
This paper analyzes the performance of a dual-hop amplify-and-forward (AF) cooperative relay network in the presence of direct link between the source and destination and multiple co-channel interferences (CCIs) at the relay. Specifically, we derive the new analytical expressions for the moment generating function (MGF) of the output signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) and the average symbol error rate (ASER) of the relay network. Computer simulations are given to confirm the validity of the analytical results and show the effects of direct link and interference on the considered AF relay network

Indication of intrinsic spin Hall effect in 4d and 5d transition metals

We have investigated spin Hall effects in 4dd and 5dd transition metals, Nb, Ta, Mo, Pd and Pt, by incorporating the spin absorption method in the lateral spin valve structure; where large spin current preferably relaxes into the transition metals, exhibiting strong spin-orbit interactions. Thereby nonlocal spin valve measurements enable us to evaluate their spin Hall conductivities. The sign of the spin Hall conductivity changes systematically depending on the number of dd electrons. This tendency is in good agreement with the recent theoretical calculation based on the intrinsic spin Hall effect.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

Spectrum of low-lying s3QQĖ‰s^{3}Q\bar{Q} configurations with negative parity

Spectrum of low-lying five-quark configurations with strangeness quantum number S=āˆ’3S=-3 and negative parity is studied in three kinds of constituent quark models, namely the one gluon exchange, Goldstone Boson exchange, and instanton-induced hyperfine interaction models, respectively. Our numerical results show that the lowest energy states in all the three employed models are lying at āˆ¼\sim1800 MeV, about 200 MeV lower than predictions of various quenched three-quark models. In addition, it is very interesting that the state with the lowest energy in one gluon exchange model is with spin 3/2, but 1/2 in the other two models.Comment: Version published in Phys. Rev.

Crossing of the Phantom Divided Barrier with Lorentz Invariance Violating Fields

We study possible crossing of the phantom divided barrier in a Lorentz invariance violating dark energy model. Lorentz invariance violation which is achieved by introducing a vector field in the action, incorporates directly in the dynamics of the scalar field and equation of state. This interesting feature allows us to study phantom divided barrier crossing in the context of Lorentz invariance violation. We show that for suitable choice of parameter space, equation of state can cross phantom divided barrier just by one scalar field and Lorentz violating vector field controls this crossing.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figures, Revised and References added, Accepted for Publication in Europhysics Letter
