Diagnosing and measuring incompatibilities between pairs of services

International audienceThis text presents a tool, from its design to its implementation, which detects all behavioural incompatibilities between two service interfaces. Unlike prior work, the proposed solution does not simply check whether two services are incompatible or not, it rather provides detailed diagnosis, including the incompatibilities and for each one the location in the service interfaces where these incompatibilities occur. A measure of similarity between interfaces which considers outputs from the detection algorithm is proposed too. A visual report of the comparison analysis is also provided which pinpoints a set of incompatibilities that cause a behavioural interface not to simulate another one

    Correlation Patterns in Service-Orientated Architectures

When a service engages in multiple interactions concurrently, it is generally required to correlate incoming messages with messages previously sent or received. Features to deal with this correlation requirement have been incorporated into standards and tools for service implementation, but the supported sets of features are ad hoc as there is a lack of an overarching framework with respect to which their expressiveness can be evaluated. This paper introduces a set of patterns that provide a basis for evaluating languages and protocols for service implementation in terms of their support for correlation. The proposed correlation patterns are grounded in a formal model that views correlation mechanisms as means of grouping atomic message events into conversations and processes. The paper also provides an evaluation of relevant standards in terms of the patterns, specifically WS-Addressing and BPEL, and discusses how these standards have and could continue to evolve to address a wider set of correlation scenarios

An Interactive Symbolic--Numeric Interface to Parallel ELLPACK for Building General PDE Solvers

this paper we describe an interactive symbolic-numeric interface framework (editor) to the ELLPACK partial differential equation (PDE) system for building PDE solvers for a much broader range of applications. The domain of applicability of ELLPACK and its parallel version (//ELLPACK) is restricted to second order linear elliptic boundary value problems. This editor allows the specification of nonlinear initial and boundary value PDE problems. The editor applies hybrid symbolic--numeric techniques at the PDE problem level to automatically reduce them to a sequence of linear elliptic PDEs. The result of this preprocessing is recorded in the form of an ELLPACK program. Several examples are presented to demonstrate the functionality and applicability of this interface framework, and the efficiency of the underlying solution methods. 1. Introductio
