Effects of Work Motivation, Competence and Compensation on Agent Performance Through Job Satisfaction: Study at Prudential Life Assurance in Makassar

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of work motivation, competence and compensation on agent performance through job satisfaction at Prudential Life Assurance, and to see whether job satisfaction acts as an intervening variable. The population of this study is a Prudential Life Assurance agent consisting of 8 branch offices in Makassar with a total sample of 90 agents. Data collection is done through questionnaires using simple random techniques. The collected data is then analyzed using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) with PLS 2.0 as a data processing software. From the results of this study found: (1) work motivation has a non-significant effect on job satisfaction but has a significant effect on agent performance, (2) competence has a significant influence on job satisfaction and agent performance, (3) compensation has a significant effect on job satisfaction and agent performance, (4) job satisfaction has no significant effect on agent performance, (5) work motivation, competence and compensation have no significant effect on agent performance through job satisfaction as an intervening variable

In this research, the influence of NaOH concentration and gelation pH of the xerogel silica synthesized from quartz sand. It was extracted by NaOH 1, 2, and 3 M to obtain sodium silicate solution and was added by HCl 1M to reach pH value 7, 8, and 9 to become gel. After that it was heated at 80° C for 18 hours (aging process) to get xerogel silica. This result xerogel silica were characterized by FT-IR and XRD and its surface area was characterized by methylene blue. The optimum concentration of NaOH is 1 M with silica yield 33%. Surface area which was obtained by concentration variation of NaOH is 7 to 8 m2 / g. Surface area was not influenced by pH variation and NaOH. Characteristics using FT-IR show typical absorption of Si - O at 400 to 3000cm-1 and phase of silica xerogel by XRD is amorphous. Determination of surface area xerogel silica by methylene blue methode 7.364 m2 / g

Background: Adequate function of wrist extensor muscles is essential for handgrip strength. Handgrip strength can be used as a health problem predictor in the future. Maintaining and increasing handgrip strength to reduce the risk of future mortality is noteworthy. Aim: To investigate the immediate effect of the kinesiotaping facilitation technique on the non-dominant wrist extensor muscles on handgrip strength of healthy individuals. Material and Methods: This study was conducted in August – September 2020. Twenty-two healthy men, aged 25 – 40 years and willing to participate in this study by signing the research agreement form was recruited from Medical Rehabilitation Departement RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya, and randomized into kinesiotaping group and placebo taping group. The kinesiotaping group received kinesiotaping facilitation technique Y strip 50% stretched on the non-dominant wrist extensor muscles. The placebo taping group received non-elastic adhesive tape Y strip on the non-dominant wrist extensor muscles. Handgrip strength was measured using hydraulic handgrip dynamometer before and 30 minutes after kinesiotaping facilitation technique and placebo taping applied. Results: Alteration of handgrip strength is significant increase in kinesiotaping group compared to placebo taping group (p=0.036). Conclusion: Kinesiotaping facilitation technique on non-dominant wrist extensor muscles can immediately increase handgrip strength of healthy individuals

A systematic review of instruments that assess the implementation of hospital quality management systems.

PURPOSE: Health-care providers invest substantial resources to establish and implement hospital quality management systems. Nevertheless, few tools are available to assess implementation efforts and their effect on quality and safety outcomes. This review aims to (i) identify instruments to assess the implementation of hospital quality management systems, (ii) describe their measurement properties and (iii) assess the effects of quality management on quality improvement and quality of care outcomes. DATA SOURCES: We performed a systematic literature search from 1990 to 2011 in PubMed, CINAHL, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and Web of Science. In addition, we used snowball strategies, screened the reference lists of eligible papers, reviewed grey literature and contacted experts in the field. STUDY SELECTION: and data extraction Two reviewers screened eligible papers based on pre-defined inclusion and exclusion criteria and all authors extracted data. Eligible papers are described in terms of general characteristics (settings, type and level of respondents, mode of data collection), methodological properties (sampling strategy, item derivation, conceptualization of quality management, assessment of reliability and validity, scoring) and application/implementation (accounting for context, organizational adaptations, sensitivity to change, deployment and effect size). RESULTS: Eighteen papers were deemed eligible for inclusion. While some common domains emerged in measurement conceptualization, substantial differences in scope persist. The instruments' measurement properties were insufficiently described and only few instruments assessed links between the implementation of quality management systems (QMS) and improvement strategies or outcomes. CONCLUSIONS: There is currently no well-established measure to assess the implementation and effectiveness of quality management systems. Future research should address this gap
