    Kendeng mountain, where "Baduy-Dalam" community lives is a native reserve area.Observation around "leuweung kolot","leuweung ngora", and "leuweung lembur" near the community area shows how the Baduy-Dalam community controls the sustainability of their forests.These forests are almost untouchable.Information on the biodiversity of plant species in the areas have not known yet.A study on the knowledge of Baduy-Dalam community and utilization of plant resources in Cikeusik,Cikertawana, and Cibeo villages was conducted.The results shows that the Baduy-Dalam tribe had a close relationship with their surroundings; it is seen from their knowledge in managing the environment in order to survive and continuing their living.Among 163 plant species recorded, 81 species are as potential food plants (the largest group), 38 species of medicinal plants, 17 species of building materials, 8 species for ritual, 17 species for fire wood, 4 species handycraf, 3 species economically potential, and 1 species for drinking. There are two species is considered as endangered species namely Arcangelisia Jlava and Alstonia scholaris

    Kasepuhan ethnic group surrounding Mt. Halimun National Park uses plants traditionally. Based on our research in May 2004 in Cisungsang, Lebak District, Banten province, there are 113 species of plants belongs to 41 families used in many ways. There are 20 local rice varieties, 30 species as vegetables, 30 species as medicinal properties, 28 species as food, 2 species as ornamental plants, 2 species as handycraff and 1 species as for dye. The wisdom in the traditional knowledge of this ethnic group is be discussed

    The Use of Personal Photograph in Teaching Descriptive Text Writing to Mtsn

    The purpose of conducting this research is to know whether or not the use of personal photograph is effective to teach students\u27 ability in descriptive text writing and how effective the use of personal photograph to teach students\u27 ability in descriptive text writing at the seventh grade students of MTsN Jongkong in academic year 2015/2016. This research was done by conducting a pre- experimental study which consists of pretest, two times of treatments and posttest. The sample of this research is class VII Aand consists of 40 students.The data had been collected by measurement technique with pre-test and post-test. The tool of data collecting is written test.The result of the mean score in pre-test is 33.91 and the students mean score in post-test is 56.52. The interval score from pre-test and post-test is 22.61. It means that the students\u27 score increased from pre-test to post-test. Based on the computation of t-test it showed that t-test was higher that t-table (3.29>2.074).Besides that, based on the computation of the effect size, it showed that the effect of the treatment is 0.658 this score categorized as moderate. It means that personal photograph is average for teaching descriptive text writing of MTsN Jongkong in academic year 2015/2016

    An Analysis On English Learning Strategies

    The purposes of this research are to find out the learning strategies used by non-English Language Education Study Program students, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tanjungpura University to master English and implemention of the strategies in their individual learning practice. The participants of this research were four students from study programs of Chemistry, Sociology, Indonesian, and Biology. The design of this research was a case study. The data were collected through questionnaire to determine the students' English learning strategies, and semi-structure interview. The result of the analysis showed that the strategy used and implemented by the students had helped them in improving English ability. Each student had their own unique ways and styles in English learning strategies. There were six types of learning strategies. They are cognition, metacognition, compensation, memory, social, and affection. These English learning strategies are recommended for those who want to improve their English ability

    This research entitled The Investigation of The English Education Study Program Students' Motivation Trend in Learning English. The purpose of this research is to describe students' motivation trend in learning English in the classroom. This research was done in descriptive study. The researcher used questionnaire and interview as the tools of collecting data. The research data are taken from 2nd, 4th, and 6th semester students of English Education Study Program year 2011/2012. The research finding showed that 2nd, 4th, and 6th semester students have more or less same patterns of motivation. There are also seven factors that contribute to students motivation in learning English, they are: goals, needs, interest and coriosity, attitude, expectancy and self efficacy, lecturers as the role model, course content and classroom, and social identity

    This thesis discusses about the animated fable video which is used as teaching media in teaching narrative text writing. The problem of this research is: How effective is the use of animated fable video in teaching narrative text writing of tenth grade students of SMA Mujahidin Pontianak? The design of this research is a pre-experimental study.The sample of the research is the X MIA 2 class of SMA Mujahidin Pontianak which included 32 students. The researcher used t-table to measure the significance of teaching by using animated fable video in teaching narrative text writing and the result of t-value 9.28 is higher than t-table 2.000 on the level significance 5%. The researcher also used effect size (ES) to analyze the effectiveness of using animated fable video in teaching narrative text writing and the result of the ES is 1.58 is categorized “High”. Based on the result the use of the animated fable video in teaching narrative text writing to the tenth grade students of SMA Mujahidin Pontianak is highly effective

    The Use of Two Stay-two Stray in Teaching Reading Comprehension on Narrative Text

    The aim of this research is to find out the effectiveness of the use of two stay-two stray in teaching reading comprehension on narrative text. This research was conducted to the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 7 Pontianak in academic year 2014/2015. In this research, a quasi-experimental research with non-equivalent control group design was used by the writer. The samples of this research were class XI MIA 1 as the control group and class XI MIA 4 as the experimental group. The data were collected through pre-test and post-test by using multiple-choice test items and analyzed by using Effect Size (ES) formula. The finding shows that the effect of treatment was 1.19 (> 1.00), it is categorized as strong effect. It indicates that the use of two stay-two stray is effective in teaching reading comprehension on narrative text
