    Beyond ANT and Sociomateriality: Explore Symbolic Power to Information System Adoption

    IS adoption is inherently a social practice shaped by the immediate social context but capital power does not have a stronger presence in ANT and sociomateriality. The paper describes Bourdieu’s practice theory and suggests that by this lens we can better understand IS adoption (e.g., implementation of MRP II/ERP/ERP II) as symbolic capital changing power relations in an adopted organization. Such shift of power relations is viewed as accepting relation thinking mode and critical realism in IS adoption. From symbolic power perspective, character status and role prestige is ascribed to IS. Implementation of an IS are configuration of power relation designed by IS software vendors. By exploring IS as social inclusion and distinction, we review Ivy University’s Oracle ERP case beyond ANT and Social-materiality theory.     How Does Enterprise Social Software Impact on Employees’ Innovation Behavior? The Role of Symbolic Capital

    Organizations are increasingly adopting new technologies, such as enterprise social software (ESS), which afford employees a repertoire of uses. They not simply focused on work but also on socialization and entertainment. Previous research suggested that the implementation of ESS in an organization had an impact on their employee’s creative behavior. However, how does it impact on is still not clear. In the present study, the generative mechanism of the impact on their employee’s innovation behavior is investigated. Based on the practice theory of Bourdieu and theory of critical realism, a large number of interviews within four small medium enterprises was conducted by the grounded theory methodology. The results indicated that the impact on their employee’s creative behavior was accomplished by four steps, i.e., ESS usage, capitals reproduced, being recognized and practice of creation.     Synthesis of a Flexible Freestanding Sulfur/Polyacrylonitrile/Graphene Oxide as the Cathode for Lithium/Sulfur Batteries

    Rechargeable lithium/sulfur (Li/S) batteries have received quite significant attention over the years because of their high theoretical specific capacity (1672 mAh g1) and energy density (2600 mAh g1) which has led to more efforts for improvement in their electrochemical performance. Herein, the synthesis of a flexible freestanding sulfur/polyacrylonitrile/graphene oxide (S/PAN/GO) as the cathode for Li/S batteries by simple method via vacuum filtration is reported. The S/PAN/GO hybrid binder-free electrode is considered as one of the most promising cathodes for Li/S batteries. Graphene oxide (GO) slice structure provides effective ion conductivity channels and increases structural stability of the ternary system, resulting in excellent electrochemical properties of the freestanding S/PAN/GO cathode. Additionally, graphene oxide (GO) membrane was able to minimize the polysulfides’ dissolution and their shuttle, which was attributed to the electrostatic interactions between the negatively-charged species and the oxygen functional groups on GO. Furthermore, these oxygen-containing functional groups including carboxyl, epoxide and hydroxyl groups provide active sites for coordination with inorganic materials (such as sulfur). It exhibits the initial reversible specific capacity of 1379 mAh g1 at a constant current rate of 0.2 C and maintains 1205 mAh g1 over 100 cycles (~87% retention). In addition, the freestanding S/PAN/GO cathode displays excellent coulombic efficiency (~100%) and rate capability, delivering up to 685 mAh g1 capacity at 2

    From Offline to Online: A Study on the Practice of Learners' Self-Regulated Learning Based on Bourdieu's Theory

Previous research suggested that self-regulated learning practice is a key factor affecting the effectiveness of online learning, but the research on the driving causes of self-regulated learning is still in the exploration stage. In the study, the impact on self-regulated learning practice is investigated. Based on the practice theory of Bourdieu, a large number of interviews was conducted by the grounded theory methodology. The results indicated that the impact on learners' self-regulated learning practice was accomplished by four aspects, i.e., online field structured, capitals reproduced, new habitus generated and practice of self-regulated learning.     Correlative study on retinal microvascular changes and sex hormones in male patients with central serous chorioretinopathy

    Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) is a disease in which the outer retinal barrier is damaged with high incidence in young adult males. We aimed to analyze the correlations between retinal microvascular changes and sex hormone levels. The vascular density of the superficial retinal capillary plexus (SCP), deep retinal capillary plexus (DCP), foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area, choriocapillary blood flow area, and the subfoveal choroidal thickness (SCT) were investigated by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). We also determined the levels of sex hormones (adrenaline (AD), norepinephrine (NE), dopamine (DA), corticosteroids (Cor), aldosterone (ALD), estradiol (E2) and total testosterone (TT)). The relationship between sex hormone levels and OCTA parameters was then determined. We detected significantly higher levels of NE, Cor and TT in serum from the observation group than in the control group (p < 0.05). Significant correlations were identified between SCT and choriocapillary blood flow area in the affected eyes, contralateral eyes and healthy eyes in the control group (p < 0.05). SCT levels of both eyes in the observation group were higher and the choriocapillary blood flow area was smaller than in the control group. The SCT in affected eyes from the observation group were higher than the contralateral eyes (p < 0.05). The choriocapillary blood flow area was significantly smaller than in the contralateral eyes (p < 0.05). Correlation analysis unveiled that NE, Cor and TT levels were positively correlated with SCT in CSC patients and negatively correlated with choriocapillary blood flow area (p < 0.05). The serum levels of sex hormone levels in male CSC patients were different from those in healthy men of the same age. Our findings suggest that the serum levels of NE, Cor and TT levels may influence the pathogenesis of CSC by affecting SCT thickness and choriocapillary blood flow

    Effects of Active Components of Fuzi and Gancao Compatibility on Bax, Bcl-2, and Caspase-3 in Chronic Heart Failure Rats

    Hypaconitine (HA) and glycyrrhetinic acid (GA) are active components of Fuzi (Aconitum carmichaelii) and Gancao (Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch); they have been used in compatibility for chronic heart failure (CHF) from ancient times. The purpose of the present research was to explore whether apoptosis pathways were related with the protective effects of HA + GA against CHF rats or not. The rats were progressed with transverse-aortic constriction (TAC) operation for 4 weeks to build the CHF state, and then the Digoxin (1 mg/kg), HA (2.07 mg/kg), GA (25 mg/kg), and HA (2.07 mg/kg) + GA (25 mg/kg) were orally administrated to rats for 1 week. The levels of BNP and cTnI in the plasma were decreased in the HA + GA group, and the heart/body weight ratio (H/B) and left ventricular (LV) parameters of transthoracic echocardiography were also declined; moreover, the expressions of Bax, Bcl-2, and caspase-3 were all improved in the HA + GA group than other groups in the immunohistochemistry and western blot methods. In general, the data suggested that Fuzi and Gancao compatibility could protect the CHF rats from apoptosis, which provided a strong evidence for further searching for mechanisms of them
