    Improving spatial resolution of confocal Raman microscopy by super-resolution image restoration

    A new super-resolution image restoration confocal Raman microscopy method (SRIR-RAMAN) is proposed for improving the spatial resolution of confocal Raman microscopy. This method can recover the lost high spatial frequency of the confocal Raman microscopy by using Poisson-MAP super-resolution imaging restoration, thereby improving the spatial resolution of confocal Raman microscopy and realizing its super-resolution imaging. Simulation analyses and experimental results indicate that the spatial resolution of SRIR-RAMAN can be improved by 65% to achieve 200 nm with the same confocal Raman microscopy system. This method can provide a new tool for high spatial resolution micro-probe structure detection in physical chemistry, materials science, biomedical science and other areas

    Reduced glutamine synthetase activity alters the fecundity of female Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel)

    Glutamine synthetase (GS) is a key enzyme in glutamine synthesis and is associated with multiple physiological processes in insects, such as embryonic development, heat shock response, and fecundity regulation. However, little is known about the influence of GS on female fecundity in the oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis. Based on the cloning of BdGSs, mitochondrial BdGSm and cytoplasmic BdGSc, we determined their expressions in the tissues of adult B. dorsalis. BdGSm was highly expressed in the fat body, while BdGSc was highly expressed in the head and midgut. Gene silencing by RNA interference against two BdGSs isoforms suppressed target gene expression at the transcriptional level, leading to a reduced ovarian size and lower egg production. The specific inhibitor L-methionine S-sulfoximine suppressed enzyme activity, but only the gene expression of BdGSm was suppressed. A similar phenotype of delayed ovarian development occurred in the inhibitor bioassay. Significantly lower expression of vitellogenin and vitellogenin receptor was observed when GS enzyme activity was suppressed. These data illustrate the effects of two GS genes on adult fecundity by regulating vitellogenin synthesis in different ways

    Clinical analysis of vitrectomy in treatment of 48 eyes with metallic foreign bodies

    AIM: To investigate the effect of vitrectomy in treatment of metal intraocular foreign bodies and the factors affecting visual prognosis.<p>METHODS:Fourty seven cases(48 eyes)with foreign bodies from January 2010 to June 2013 in our hospital underwent vitrectomy combined with intraocular foreign body removal were retrospectively analyzed. The changes of visual acuity, the size of foreign body, the complications of preoperative, and the relationship between treatment time and visual acuity were recorded. <p>RESULTS: Totally 46 eyes were successfully removed the complete foreign body, 2 eyes of orbital foreign bodies had not been removed. After 6mo of followed-up, the best corrected visual acuity were all improved in varying degrees(<i>P</i><0.05), intraocular foreign body size combined with retinal detachment was the risk factor for visual impact(<i>P</i><0.05).<p>CONCLUSION:Vitrectomy has obvious advantages in the treatment of metal intraocular foreign bodies. Timely and appropriate vitrectomy is very important to the recovery of visual function

    It is found that the radius of a stable strangelet decreases as the temperature increases in a quark mass density-dependent model. To overcome this difficulty, we extend this model to a quark mass density- and temperature- dependent model in which the vacuum energy density at zero baryon density limit B depends on temperature.     Snailase Preparation of Ginsenoside M1 from Protopanaxadiol-Type Ginsenoside and Their Protective Effects Against CCl4-Induced Chronic Hepatotoxicity in Mice

    To investigate the protective effects of protopanaxadiol-type ginsenoside (PDG) and its metabolite ginsenoside M1 (G-M1) on carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced chronic liver injury in ICR mice, we carried out conversion of protopanaxadiol-type ginsenosides to ginsenoside M1 using snailase. The optimum time for the conversion was 24 h at a constant pH of 4.5 and an optimum temperature of 50 °C. The transformation products were identified by high-performance liquid chromatography and electrospray ion-mass spectrometry. Subsequently, most of PDG was decomposed and converted into G-M1 by 24 h post-reaction. During the study on hepatoprotective in a mice model of chronic liver injury, PDG or G-M1 supplement significantly ameliorated the CCl4-induced liver lesions, lowered the serum levels of select hepatic enzyme markers (alanine aminotransferase, ALT, and aspartate aminotransferase, AST) and malondialdehyde and increased the activity of superoxide dismutase in liver. Histopathology of the liver tissues showed that PDG and G-M1 attenuated the hepatocellular necrosis and led to reduction of inflammatory cell infiltration. Therefore, the results of this study show that PDG and G-M1 can be proposed to protect the liver against CCl4-induced oxidative injury in mice, and the hepatoprotective effect might be attributed to amelioration of oxidative stress

    Synergistic Effects between Phosphorylation of Phospholamban and Troponin I Promote Relaxation at Higher Heart Rate

    We hypothesized that the extent of frequency-dependent acceleration of relaxation (FDAR) would be less than that of isoproterenol-(ISO-)dependent acceleration of relaxation (IDAR) at the same increment of heart rates, and ISO may improve FDAR. Cardiac function and phosphorylation of PLB and cTnI were compared in pacing, ISO treatment, and combined pacing and ISO treatment in isolated working heart. The increase in cardiac output and the degree of relaxation was less in pacing than in ISO treatment at the same increment of heart rates. The increasing stimulation frequency induced more significant relaxant effect in ISO perfusion than that in physiological salt perfusion. The pacing only phosphorylated PLB at Thr17, but ISO induced phosphorylation of cTnI and PLB at Ser16 and Thr17. Those results suggest that the synergistic effects of PLB and cTnI induce higher degree of relaxation which makes a sufficient diastolic filling of the ventricle at higher heart rate

    The design of a new fiber optic sensor for measuring linear velocity with pico meter/second sensitivity based on Weak-value amplification

    We put forward a new fiber optic sensor for measuring linear velocity with picometer/second sensitivity with Weak-value amplification based on generalized Sagnac effect [Phys. Rev. Lett.\textbf{93}, 143901(2004)].The generalized Sagnac effect was first introduced by Yao et al, which included the Sagnac effect of rotation as a special case and suggested a new fiber optic sensor for measuring linear motion with nanoscale sensitivity. By using a different scheme to perform the Sagnac interferometer with the probe in momentum space, we have demonstrated the new weak measure protocol to detect the linear velocity by amplifying the phase shift of the generalized Sagnac effect. Given the maximum incident intensity of the initial spectrum, the detection limit of the intensity of the spectrometer, we can theoretically give the appropriate pre-selection, post-selection, and other optical structures before the experiment. Our numerical results show our scheme with Weak-value amplification is effective and feasible to detect linear velocity with picometer/second sensitivity which is three orders of magnitude smaller than the result ν\nu=4.8 ×\times 10910^{-9} m/s obtained by generalized Sagnac effect with same fiber length.Comment: 3 figures; 9 pages. arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:2105.1363
