Two-dimensional topological superconducting phases emerged from d-wave superconductors in proximity to antiferromagnets

Motivated by the recent observations of nodeless superconductivity in the monolayer CuO2_{2} grown on the Bi2_{2}Sr2_{2}CaCu2_{2}O8+δ_{8+\delta } substrates, we study the two-dimensional superconducting (SC) phases described by the two-dimensional tt-JJ model in proximity to an antiferromagnetic (AF) insulator. We found that (i) the nodal d-wave SC state can be driven via a continuous transition into a nodeless d-wave pairing state by the proximity induced AF field. (ii) The energetically favorable pairing states in the strong field regime have extended s-wave symmetry and can be nodal or nodeless. (iii) Between the pure d-wave and s-wave paired phases, there emerge two topologically distinct SC phases with (s+s+idd) symmetry, i.e., the weak and strong pairing phases, and the weak pairing phase is found to be a Z2Z_{2} topological superconductor protected by valley symmetry, exhibiting robust gapless non-chiral edge modes. These findings strongly suggest that the high-TcT_{c} superconductors in proximity to antiferromagnets can realize fully gapped symmetry protected topological SC.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures; revised versio

The Role of Ubiquitin System in Autophagy

    Get PDF
Autophagy is a highly conserved lysosomal degradation pathway, which has been shown to play a pivotal role during normal physiological and pathological conditions. Many proteins and signaling pathways have been shown to regulate autophagy during different stages of the process. Modifying autophagy-related proteins (Atg) by posttranslational modification (PTM) is an important way to control proper autophagic activity. Ubiquitination is one of the PTM that has a crucial role in controlling protein stability and functions. Proteins can be conjugated with ubiquitin chains with different topologies that are associated with different outcomes. Many autophagy regulators are found to be substrates for ubiquitin E3 ligases or deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs). Ubiquitination modifications of these autophagy regulators result in autophagy induction or termination. Moreover, ubiquitin is also involved in selective autophagy by acting as a degradation signal. Here, we are going to review how E3 ligases and DUBs function in autophagy regulation and discuss the recent findings about ubiquitination regulation in autophagy-related processes and diseases

Quantum correlation measure in arbitrary bipartite systems

A definition of quantum correlation is presented for an arbitrary bipartite quantum state based on the skew information. This definition not only inherits the good properties of skew information such as the contractivity and so on, but also is effective and almost analytically calculated for any bipartite quantum states. We also reveal the relation between our measure and quantum metrology. As applications, we give the exact expressions of quantum correlation for many states, which provides a direct support for our result.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures. Comments are welcom

CosmoVAE: Variational Autoencoder for CMB Image Inpainting

Cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB) is critical to the understanding of the early universe and precise estimation of cosmological constants. Due to the contamination of thermal dust noise in the galaxy, the CMB map that is an image on the two-dimensional sphere has missing observations, mainly concentrated on the equatorial region. The noise of the CMB map has a significant impact on the estimation precision for cosmological parameters. Inpainting the CMB map can effectively reduce the uncertainty of parametric estimation. In this paper, we propose a deep learning-based variational autoencoder --- CosmoVAE, to restoring the missing observations of the CMB map. The input and output of CosmoVAE are square images. To generate training, validation, and test data sets, we segment the full-sky CMB map into many small images by Cartesian projection. CosmoVAE assigns physical quantities to the parameters of the VAE network by using the angular power spectrum of the Gaussian random field as latent variables. CosmoVAE adopts a new loss function to improve the learning performance of the model, which consists of â„“1\ell_1 reconstruction loss, Kullback-Leibler divergence between the posterior distribution of encoder network and the prior distribution of latent variables, perceptual loss, and total-variation regularizer. The proposed model achieves state of the art performance for Planck \texttt{Commander} 2018 CMB map inpainting.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figure

Zc(3900)Z_c(3900) as a DDˉ∗D\bar{D}^* molecule from the pole counting rule

A comprehensive study on the nature of the Zc(3900)Z_c(3900) resonant structure is carried out in this work. By constructing the pertinent effective Lagrangians and considering the important final-state-interaction effects, we first give a unified description to all the relevant experimental data available, including the J/ψπJ/\psi\pi and ππ\pi\pi invariant mass distributions from the e+e−→J/ψππe^+e^-\to J/\psi\pi\pi process, the hcπh_c\pi distribution from e+e−→hcππe^+e^-\to h_c\pi\pi and also the DDˉ∗D\bar D^{*} spectrum in the e+e−→DDˉ∗πe^+e^-\to D\bar D^{*}\pi process. After fitting the unknown parameters to the previous data, we search the pole in the complex energy plane and find only one pole in the nearby energy region in different Riemann sheets. Therefore we conclude that Zc(3900)Z_c(3900) is of DDˉ∗D\bar D^* molecular nature, according to the pole counting rule method~[Nucl.~Phys.~A543, 632 (1992); Phys.~Rev.~D 35,~1633 (1987)]. We emphasize that the conclusion based upon the pole counting method is not trivial, since both the DDˉ∗D\bar D^{*} contact interactions and the explicit ZcZ_c exchanges are introduced in our analyses and they lead to the same conclusion.Comment: 21 pages, 9 figures.
