Thermodynamic and Tunneling Density of States of the Integer Quantum Hall Critical State

We examine the long wave length limit of the self-consistent Hartree-Fock approximation irreducible static density-density response function by evaluating the charge induced by an external charge. Our results are consistent with the compressibility sum rule and inconsistent with earlier work that did not account for consistency between the exchange-local-field and the disorder potential. Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma Variants are Characterized by Co-dysregulation of Immune and Cancer Associated Genes.

Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) variants exhibit different prognosis, but critical characteristics of PTC variants that contribute to differences in pathogenesis are not well-known. This study aims to characterize dysregulated immune-associated and cancer-associated genes in three PTC subtypes to explore how the interplay between cancer and immune processes causes differential prognosis. RNA-sequencing data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) were used to identify dysregulated genes in each variant. The dysregulation profiles of the subtypes were compared using functional pathways clustering and correlations to relevant clinical variables, genomic alterations, and microRNA regulation. We discovered that the dysregulation profiles of classical PTC (CPTC) and the tall cell variant (TCPTC) are similar and are distinct from that of the follicular variant (FVPTC). However, unique cancer or immune-associated genes are associated with clinical variables for each subtype. Cancer-related genes MUC1, FN1, and S100-family members were the most clinically relevant in CPTC, while APLN and IL16, both immune-related, were clinically relevant in FVPTC. RAET-family members, also immune-related, were clinically relevant in TCPTC. Collectively, our data suggest that dysregulation of both cancer and immune associated genes defines the gene expression landscapes of PTC variants, but different cancer or immune related genes may drive the phenotype of each variant

Realizing IT Strategic Alignment and Business Performance: An Integration of Three Perspectives

IT strategic alignment remains a key concern for business executives over decades. Unfortunately, prior empirical studies tend to ignore the relevance of cultural and capability dimensions to IT strategic alignment. Consequently, whether IT-related orientation and capabilities are adequate for attaining organizational goals and leading to business values still requires exploration. This study adopts three perspectives to understand why and how IT strategic alignment can be achieved through IT-related orientation and capabilities in program (i.e. project portfolio), management, and flexibility. This study develops a model to examine the relationships among such IT-related orientation, IT capabilities, IT strategic alignment, and subsequent business performance. Accordingly, seven hypotheses were proposed and the model was tested with Partial Least Square technique based on the data collected from a survey of 209 manufacturing firms in Taiwan. The results support our model with seven hypotheses confirmed. By focusing on relevant IT-related orientation, IT capabilities, and IT strategic alignment, this study extends the literatures on program (project portfolio) management, IT capability, and strategic management by manifesting the effects the studied constructs from the bridging, transformative, and adaptive perspectives. Implications of the results are provided and limitations and future research directions are discussed
