    Industry Poverty Alleviation and Development in Continuous Destitute Areas: Based on the Status Analysis of the Wuling Mountains Region

    As an effective way of poverty alleviation, the poverty alleviation through industry plays an important role in China’s poverty alleviation and development career. After years of poverty alleviation and development, the industry poverty alleviation in Wuling Mountains has obtained certain achievements, but it still has some problems, such as unreasonable industrial structure, the limit of poverty alleviation’s leading ability and so on. Based on the case study of the Wuling Mountains, this paper analyzes present situation and reasons of the industry poverty alleviation of the region, and puts forward some suggestions for poverty alleviation, such as strengthening regional government coordination, making the special advantage industries bigger and stronger, establishing demonstration zone of industry poverty alleviation, fostering leading enterprises vigorously and so on, which can provide decision support for the government at all levels to innovate the model of poverty alleviation and win the battle for the poverty alleviation in the new period

    Distinct metabolic programs induced by TGF-β1 and BMP2 in human articular chondrocytes with osteoarthritis

    Objectives: Cellular energy metabolism is important for the function of all tissues, including cartilage. Recent studies indicate that superficial and deep subpopulations of articular chondrocytes (ACs) have distinct metabolic profiles. At the cellular and molecular level, osteoarthritis (OA) is characterised by alteration from a healthy homoeostatic state towards a catabolic state. Several molecular pathways, including transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) and bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signalling, have been identified as critical players in the pathogenesis and progression of OA. However, the manner in which these factors influence cellular energy metabolism in ACs is not well understood. This study investigates the effect of TGF-β or BMP signalling on energy metabolism in human articular chondrocytes (hACs). Methods: ACs were isolated from residual macroscopically full thickness and intact cartilage from the femoral condyle of human samples obtained from patients with OA. ACs were treated with Vehicle (control), TGF-β1 or BMP2 for 48–72 hours. Metabolic assays were performed to determine glucose consumption, lactate production and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production, whereas the mitochondrial stress test was performed to determine oxygen consumption rate. Protein was isolated to assess translational activity and was evaluated using Western blot. Results: We showed that TGF-β1, known to maintain chondrocyte homoeostasis, stimulated glycolysis by upregulating key glycolytic factors, such as glucose transporter 1 (Glut1) and hexokinase II, while reducing oxidative phosphorylation in hACs. In contrast, BMP2 enhanced mitochondrial metabolism and oxidative phosphorylation and had a minimal effect on key glycolytic regulators. Conclusions: Our data revealed distinct metabolic programs induced by TGF-β1 and BMP2 in hACs, suggesting that the regulation of cellular metabolism may represent a new mechanism underlying the pathogenesis of OA. The translational potential of this article: The findings define the regulation of energy metabolism as a potential novel therapeutic approach for the treatment of OA

    A Neuroeconomics Analysis of Investment Process with Money Flow Information: The Error-Related Negativity

    This investigation is among the first ones to analyze the neural basis of an investment process with money flow information of financial market, using a simplified task where volunteers had to choose to buy or not to buy stocks based on the display of positive or negative money flow information. After choosing “to buy” or “not to buy,” participants were presented with feedback. At the same time, event-related potentials (ERPs) were used to record investor’s brain activity and capture the event-related negativity (ERN) and feedback-related negativity (FRN) components. The results of ERN suggested that there might be a higher risk and more conflict when buying stocks with negative net money flow information than positive net money flow information, and the inverse was also true for the “not to buy” stocks option. The FRN component evoked by the bad outcome of a decision was more negative than that by the good outcome, which reflected the difference between the values of the actual and expected outcome. From the research, we could further understand how investors perceived money flow information of financial market and the neural cognitive effect in investment process

    MiR-338-3p Is a Biomarker in Neonatal Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and Has Roles in the Inflammatory Response of ARDS Cell Models

    To investigate the association between serum miR-338-3p levels and neonatal acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and its mechanism. The relative miR-338-3p expression in serum was detected by quantitative real-time RT-PCR. Interleukin-1beta (IL-1β), IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) levels were detected by ELISAs. A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis of serum miR-338-3p evaluated the diagnosis of miR-338-3p in neonatal ARDS. Pearson’s correlation analysis evaluated the correlation between serum miR-338-3p and neonatal ARDS clinical factors. Flow cytometry evaluated apoptosis, and a CCK-8 assay assessed cell viability. A luciferase assay evaluated the miR-338-3p/AKT3 relationship. The miR- 338-3p expression was decreased in neonatal ARDS patients and in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated cells. The ROC curve showed the accuracy of miR-338-3p for evaluating neonatal ARDS patients. The correlation analysis demonstrated that miR-338-3p was related to PRISM-III, PaO2/FiO2, oxygenation index, IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α in neonatal ARDS patients. MiR-338-3p overexpression inhibited the secretion of inflammatory components, stifled cell apoptosis, and LPS-induced advanced cell viability. The double-luciferase reporter gene experiment confirmed that miR-338-3p negatively regulates AKT3 mRNA expression. Serum miR-338-3p levels were related to the diagnosis and severity of neonatal ARDS, which may be attributed to its regulatory effect on inflammatory response in ARDS

    Low carbon decision-making model under the combined effect of corporate social responsibility and overconfidence

    This paper explores the impact of retailers' corporate social responsibility (CSR) and manufacturers' overconfidence on manufacturers' carbon reduction in sustainable supply chains. We analyze the profits of manufacturers and retailers under different scenarios and explore the social welfare and environmental impacts under CSR. Our results suggest that retailers' CSR and manufacturers' overconfidence contribute positively to promoting carbon mitigation and reducing environmental impacts under certain conditions. However, with increasing CSR and manufacturer overconfidence levels, manufacturers are more likely to lead to worse environmental impacts and carbon emission reduction. In addition, we show that when the manufacturer's overconfidence level is high, manufacturers and retailers are more profitable and contribute to carbon emission reductions in the manufacturer without overconfidence (retailer without CSR) scenario. Moreover, we find that firms have the higher potential to capture optimal overall social welfare in the presence of retailers with CSR and manufacturer overconfidence
