The diagnostic value of microRNA-377 (miR-377) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and explored miR-377’s potential mechanisms. We performed an qRT-PCR to assess serum miR-377 levels in ACS patients and coronary artery ligation rat models. The diagnostic value of miR-377 was evaluated by determining the ROC curve. An ELISA assay was conducted to detect the model rat endothelial damage markers von Willebrand factor (vWF) and heart-type fatty acid binding protein (H-FABP), and proinflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β. The serum miR-377 level was elevated in the ACS patients and significantly increased in the ACS rats. MiR-377 has a high diagnostic value in ACS patients, with a 0.844 ROC, 76.47% specificity, and 87.10% sensitivity. MiR-377 was positively correlated with the expressions of vWF, H-FABP, cTnI, TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β. In ACS rats, reducing the expression of miR-377 significantly inhibited the increases in vWF, H-FABP, TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β. An elevated miR-377 level can be used as a diagnostic marker in patients with ACS. A reduction of miR-377 may alleviate ACS by improving myocardial damage such as endothelial injury and the inflammatory response

Bridging Sensor Gaps via Single-Direction Tuning for Hyperspectral Image Classification

Recently, some researchers started exploring the use of ViTs in tackling HSI classification and achieved remarkable results. However, the training of ViT models requires a considerable number of training samples, while hyperspectral data, due to its high annotation costs, typically has a relatively small number of training samples. This contradiction has not been effectively addressed. In this paper, aiming to solve this problem, we propose the single-direction tuning (SDT) strategy, which serves as a bridge, allowing us to leverage existing labeled HSI datasets even RGB datasets to enhance the performance on new HSI datasets with limited samples. The proposed SDT inherits the idea of prompt tuning, aiming to reuse pre-trained models with minimal modifications for adaptation to new tasks. But unlike prompt tuning, SDT is custom-designed to accommodate the characteristics of HSIs. The proposed SDT utilizes a parallel architecture, an asynchronous cold-hot gradient update strategy, and unidirectional interaction. It aims to fully harness the potent representation learning capabilities derived from training on heterologous, even cross-modal datasets. In addition, we also introduce a novel Triplet-structured transformer (Tri-Former), where spectral attention and spatial attention modules are merged in parallel to construct the token mixing component for reducing computation cost and a 3D convolution-based channel mixer module is integrated to enhance stability and keep structure information. Comparison experiments conducted on three representative HSI datasets captured by different sensors demonstrate the proposed Tri-Former achieves better performance compared to several state-of-the-art methods. Homologous, heterologous and cross-modal tuning experiments verified the effectiveness of the proposed SDT

The emerging role of cellular senescence in renal diseases

    Get PDF
Cellular senescence represents the state of irreversible cell cycle arrest during cell division. Cellular senescence not only plays a role in diverse biological events such as embryogenesis, tissue regeneration and repair, ageing and tumour occurrence prevention, but it is also involved in many cardiovascular, renal and liver diseases through the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP). This review summarizes the molecular mechanisms underlying cellular senescence and its possible effects on a variety of renal diseases. We will also discuss the therapeutic approaches based on the regulation of senescent and SASP blockade, which is considered as a promising strategy for the management of renal diseases

Clinical experience exchange of 3 cases with Fournier’s gangrene

Fournier’s gangrene (FG), also known as necrotizing fasciitis, is a condition that affects the genitalia and perineum, resulting in the rapid development of necrosis and gangrene in infected tissues and potentially spreading to adjacent tissues, including the abdominal wall. It mainly affects males and requires prompt treatment to prevent potentially life-threatening complications. In Case 1, a 64-year-old man with type 2 diabetes was diagnosed with FG due to a scrotal skin injury after scratching his scrotal skin. The patient underwent radical debridement, treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics, negative pressure wound treatment, and skin transplantation. In Case 2, a 79-year-old man suffered from a sebaceous cyst of the scrotum that had been scratched for seven days, resulting in black and necrotic skin of the scrotum. He was diagnosed with FG and underwent radical debridement and drainage of pus, followed by anti-infection treatment, negative pressure wound treatment, and skin transplantation. In Case 3, a 48-year-old male injured at the scrotum’s base developed swelling, pain, foul odor and pus discharge and was diagnosed with FG. The patient underwent emergency treatment, including incision and drainage of the scrotum and right lower abdominal wall abscess, as well as wound debridement. Ultimately, all three patients’ scrotal wounds returned to normal, but Case 2 was complicated by blood vessel thrombosis in both lower limbs. Early surgical debridement is a necessary intervention for FG, along with active postoperative anti-infection treatment and measures to prevent the occurrence of complications
