Structural Health Monitoring of Old Building

    No full text
Monitoring of structures is an important challenge faced by researchers worldwide. This study a new structural health monitoring system which utilized the use of nondestructive testing like rebound hammer, Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity meter, core cutter test & carbonation test. The system is analyzed for works on detection of structural behavior irregularity, defects, and potential failures. The system was tested using visual inspection, non destructive measurements to measure the developed different effects on different structure. The results interpreted showed that the readings obtained followed correctly the expected trend according to structural concepts. The developed methodology accomplished the desired features of lower cost, reduced size of memebers, flexibility and easier implementation, early detection of problems, and simplified representation of the results

In a structure a system of inter connected elements as frames act as transferring loads safely to underground earth. Determination of building condition assessment called as “Structural Health Monitoring”. It is most useful tool used in Civil Engineering. In the process of monitoring of static parameters of structure it is beneficial. The process is similar to examination of patients by doctor. In case study purposes structure selected has 25 years age. These buildings have a reduced strength due to deterioration; open reinforced, weak plastering, steel corroded etc. It is a process of analyses of building and this process suggest an appropriate repairs and remedial measures required for the building to perform better in its service life
