Absolute Energy Calibration of X-ray TESs with 0.04 eV Uncertainty at 6.4 keV in a Hadron-Beam Environment

A performance evaluation of superconducting transition-edge sensors (TESs) in the environment of a pion beam line at a particle accelerator is presented. Averaged across the 209 functioning sensors in the array, the achieved energy resolution is 5.2 eV FWHM at Co KαK_{\alpha} (6.9 keV) when the pion beam is off and 7.3 eV at a beam rate of 1.45 MHz. Absolute energy uncertainty of ±\pm0.04 eV is demonstrated for Fe KαK_{\alpha} (6.4 keV) with in-situ energy calibration obtained from other nearby known x-ray lines. To achieve this small uncertainty, it is essential to consider the non-Gaussian energy response of the TESs and thermal cross-talk pile-up effects due to charged-particle hits in the silicon substrate of the TES array.Comment: Accepted for publication in J. Search for Bs0γγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrow\gamma\gamma and a measurement of the branching fraction for Bs0ϕγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrow\phi\gamma

We search for the decay Bs0γγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrow\gamma\gamma and measure the branching fraction for Bs0ϕγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrow\phi\gamma using 121.4~fb1\textrm{fb}^{-1} of data collected at the Υ(5S)\Upsilon(\mathrm{5}S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ee^{+}e^{-} collider. The Bs0ϕγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrow\phi\gamma branching fraction is measured to be (3.6±0.5(stat.)±0.3(syst.)±0.6(fs))×105(3.6 \pm 0.5 (\mathrm{stat.}) \pm 0.3 (\mathrm{syst.}) \pm 0.6 (f_{s})) \times 10^{-5}, where fsf_{s} is the fraction of Bs()Bˉs()B_{s}^{(*)}\bar{B}_{s}^{(*)} in bbˉb\bar{b} events. Our result is in good agreement with the theoretical predictions as well as with a recent measurement from LHCb. We observe no statistically significant signal for the decay Bs0γγB_{s}^{0}\rightarrow\gamma\gamma and set a 90%90\% confidence-level upper limit on its branching fraction at 3.1×106 3.1 \times 10^{-6}. This constitutes a significant improvement over the previous result.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figure

Measurement of the τ\tau lepton polarization and R(D)R(D^*) in the decay BˉDτνˉτ\bar{B} \rightarrow D^* \tau^- \bar{\nu}_\tau with one-prong hadronic τ\tau decays at Belle

    Get PDF
    With the full data sample of 772×106772 \times 10^6 BBˉB{\bar B} pairs recorded by the Belle detector at the KEKB electron-positron collider, the decay BˉDτνˉτ\bar{B} \rightarrow D^* \tau^- \bar{\nu}_\tau is studied with the hadronic τ\tau decays τπντ\tau^- \rightarrow \pi^- \nu_\tau and τρντ\tau^- \rightarrow \rho^- \nu_\tau. The τ\tau polarization Pτ(D)P_\tau(D^*) in two-body hadronic τ\tau decays is measured, as well as the ratio of the branching fractions R(D)=B(BˉDτνˉτ)/B(BˉDνˉ)R(D^{*}) = \mathcal{B}(\bar {B} \rightarrow D^* \tau^- \bar{\nu}_\tau) / \mathcal{B}(\bar{B} \rightarrow D^* \ell^- \bar{\nu}_\ell), where \ell^- denotes an electron or a muon. Our results, Pτ(D)=0.38±0.51(stat)0.16+0.21(syst)P_\tau(D^*) = -0.38 \pm 0.51 {\rm (stat)} ^{+0.21}_{-0.16} {\rm (syst)} and R(D)=0.270±0.035(stat)0.025+0.028(syst)R(D^*) = 0.270 \pm 0.035{\rm (stat)} ^{+0.028}_{-0.025}{\rm (syst)}, are consistent with the theoretical predictions of the Standard Model. The polarization values of Pτ(D)>+0.5P_\tau(D^*) > +0.5 are excluded at the 90\% confidence level.Comment: 17 pages, 11 figures, submitted to Physical Review

Studies of charmed strange baryons in the ΛD\Lambda D final state at Belle

We report the discovery of Ξc(3055)0\Xi_{c}(3055)^{0}, observed by its decay into the final state ΛD0\Lambda D^{0}, and present the first observation and evidence of the decays of Ξc(3055)+\Xi_c(3055)^{+} and Ξc(3080)+\Xi_c(3080)^{+} into ΛD+\Lambda D^{+}. We also perform a combined analysis of the ΛD+\Lambda D^{+} with the Σc++K\Sigma_{c}^{++}K^{-} and Σc++K\Sigma_{c}^{\ast ++}K^{-} decay modes to measure the ratios of branching fractions, masses and widths with improved accuracy. We measure the ratios of branching fractions B(Ξc(3055)+ΛD+)/B(Ξc(3055)+Σc++K)=5.09±1.01±0.76{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3055)^{+} \to \Lambda D^{+})/{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3055)^{+} \to \Sigma_{c}^{++}K^{-})=5.09\pm1.01\pm0.76, B(Ξc(3080)+ΛD+)/B(Ξc(3080)+Σc++K)=1.29±0.30±0.15{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3080)^{+} \to \Lambda D^{+})/{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3080)^{+} \to \Sigma_{c}^{++}K^{-})=1.29\pm0.30\pm0.15, and B(Ξc(3080)+Σc++K)/B(Ξc(3080)+Σc++K)=1.07±0.27±0.01{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3080)^{+} \to \Sigma_{c}^{\ast ++}K^{-})/{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3080)^{+} \to \Sigma_{c}^{++}K^{-})=1.07\pm0.27\pm0.01, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic. The analysis is performed using a 980 fb1^{-1} data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ee^{+}e^{-} collider.Comment: Submitted to PR

Observation of a new charged charmoniumlike state in B -> J/psi K pi decays

We present the results of an amplitude analysis of anti-B0 -> J/psi K- pi+ decays. A new charged charmoniumlike state Zc(4200)+ decaying to J/psi pi+ is observed with a significance of 6.2 sigma. The mass and width of the Zc(4200)+ are 4196 +31-29 +17-13 MeV/c^2 and 370 +70-70 +70-132 MeV, respectively; the preferred assignment of the quantum numbers is J^P = 1^+. In addition, we find evidence for Zc(4430)+ -> J/psi pi+. The analysis is based on a 711 fb^-1 data sample collected by the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy e+ e- collider KEKB.Comment: 14 pages, 13 figure

    Angular analysis of B0K(892)0+B^0 \to K^\ast(892)^0 \ell^+ \ell^-

We present a measurement of angular observables, P4P_4', P5P_5', P6P_6', P8P_8', in the decay B0K(892)0+B^0 \to K^\ast(892)^0 \ell^+ \ell^-, where +\ell^+\ell^- is either e+ee^+e^- or μ+μ\mu^+\mu^-. The analysis is performed on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 711 fb1711~\mathrm{fb}^{-1} containing 772×106772\times 10^{6} BBˉB\bar B pairs, collected at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy e+ee^+e^- collider KEKB. Four angular observables, P4,5,6,8P_{4,5,6,8}' are extracted in five bins of the invariant mass squared of the lepton system, q2q^2. We compare our results for P4,5,6,8P_{4,5,6,8}' with Standard Model predictions including the q2q^2 region in which the LHCb collaboration reported the so-called P5P_5' anomaly.Comment: Conference paper for LHC Ski 2016. Search for Bhννˉ\boldsymbol{B\to h\nu\bar{\nu}} decays with semileptonic tagging at Belle

We present the results of a search for the rare decays BhννB\to h\nu\overline{\nu}, where hh stands for K+,KS0,K+,K0,π+,π0,ρ+K^+,\:K^0_{\mathrm{S}},\:K^{\ast +},\:K^{\ast 0},\:\pi^+,\:\pi^0,\:\rho^+ and ρ0\rho^{0}. The results are obtained with 772×106772\times10^{6} BBB\overline{B} pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+ee^+ e^- collider. We reconstruct one BB meson in a semileptonic decay and require a single hh meson but nothing else on the signal side. We observe no significant signal and set upper limits on the branching fractions. The limits set on the BKS0ννB\to K^0_{\mathrm{S}}\nu\overline{\nu}, B0K0ννB^0\to K^{*0}\nu\overline{\nu}, Bπ+ννB\to \pi^+\nu\overline{\nu}, B0π0ννB^0\to\pi^0\nu\overline{\nu}, B+ρ+ννB^+\to\rho^+\nu\overline{\nu}, and B0ρ0ννB^0\to\rho^0\nu\overline{\nu} channels are the world's most stringent.Comment: Submitted to PR
