Experimental aspects of colour reconnection
This report summarises experimental aspects of the phenomena of colour
reconnection in W+W- production, concentrating on charged multiplicity and
event shapes, which were carried out as part of the Phenomenology Workshop on
LEP2 Physics, Oxford, Physics Department and Keble College, 14-18 April, 1997.
The work includes new estimates of the systematic uncertainty which may be
attributed to colour reconnection effects in experimental measurements of Mw.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures. To be published in proceedings of Phenomenology

W+W- Hadronic Decay Properties
Recent measurements of the properties of W+W- events produced in e+e-
collisions at Ecm=183 GeV at LEP are reviewed. The data are used to investigate
the predicted effects of final state interactions, specifically "colour
reconnection".Comment: 6 pages, 7 figures. To appear in the "Proceedings of the XXIX

Geophysical aspects of remote sensing
Results obtained through the NASA Earth Resources Aircraft Program at Mill Creek, Oklahoma, provide a case history example of the application of remote sensing to the identification of geologic rock units. Thermal infrared images are interpreted by means of a sequence of models of increasing complexity. The roles of various parameters are examined: rock properties (thermal inertia, albedo, emissivity), site location (latitude), season (sun's declination), atmospheric effects (cloud cover, transmission, air temperature), and topographic orientation (slope, azimuth). The results obtained at this site also illustrate the development of an important application of remote sensing in geologic identification. Relatively pure limestones and dolomites of the Mill Creek test area can be differentiated in nighttime infrared images, and facies changes between them can be detected along and across strike. The predominance on the earth's surface of sedimentary rocks, of which limestone and dolomite are major members, indicates the importance of this discrimination

Topographic slope correction for analysis of thermal infrared images
A simple topographic slope correction using a linearized thermal model and assuming slopes less than about 20 degrees is presented. The correction can be used to analyzed individual thermal images or composite products such as temperature difference or thermal inertia. Simple curves are provided for latitudes of 30 and 50 degrees. The form is easily adapted for analysis of HCMM images using the DMA digital terrain data
