Optimization of idealized ORC in domestic combined heat and power generation

Organic Rankine cycle (ORC) is used, amongst the others, in geothermal facilities, in waste heat recovery or in domestic combined heat and power (CHP) generation. The paper presents optimization of an idealized ORC equivalent of the Carnot cycle with non-zero temperature difference in heat exchangers and with energy dissipation caused by the viscous fluid flow. In this analysis the amount of heat outgoing from the ORC is given. Such a case corresponds to the application of an ORC in domestic CHP. This assumption is different from the most of ORC models where the incoming amount of heat is given

Wpływ podłużnego przewodzenia ciepła w ściance na konwekcyjną wymianę ciepła w mikrokanale

Opracowany został nowy model umożliwiający obliczenie wpływu podłużnego przewodzenia ciepła w ściance kanalika na wymianę ciepła pomiędzy ścianką a przepływającym czynnikiem w mikrokanale. Zbadany został przypadek ustalonej wymiany ciepła. Znaleziono bezwymiarowe kryterium umożliwiające ocenę ważności wzdłużnego przewodzenia ciepła w ściance. W publikacji przedstawiono porównanie wyników modelu z wynikami przy zaniedbaniu podłużnego przewodzenia ciepła oraz z wynikami innego modelu opracowanego przez Kandlikara. Economic uncertainty and natural language processing; The case of Russia

The paper proposes a method of constructing text-based country-specific measures for economic policy uncertainty. To avoid problems of translation and human validation costs, we apply natural language processing and sentiment analysis to construct such measures for Russia. We compare our measure with that developed earlier using direct translations from English and human validation. In this comparison, our measure does equally well at evaluating the uncertainty related to key events that affected Russia between 1994 and 2018 and performs better at detecting the effects of uncertainty in Russia's industrial production
