Voltage-Mode Highpass, Bandpass, Lowpass and Notch Biquadratic Filters Using Single DDCC
A new voltage-mode multifunction biquadratic filter using one differential difference current conveyor (DDCC), two grounded capacitors and three resistors is presented. The proposed circuit offers the following attractive advantages: realizing highpass, bandpass, lowpass and notch filter functions, simultaneously, from the same circuit configuration; employing grounded capacitors, which is ideal for integration and simpler circuit configuration
DCCII-Based Novel Lossless Grounded Inductance Simulators With No Element Matching Constrains
In 1996, the differential current conveyor (DCCII) was introduced as a versatile active element with current differencing capability. Therefore, in this study, the usefulness of the DCCII is shown on six novel lossless grounded inductance simulator circuits. Proposed circuits simultaneously employ minimum number of elements, i.e. single DCCII, one capacitor, and two resistors. No passive element matching restriction is needed and all solutions are electronically tunable in case that one of resistors is replaced by MOSFET-based voltage-controlled resistor. The internal structure of the active element has been implemented using the TSMC 0.25 um SCN025 CMOS process BSIM3v3.1 parameters. Firstly, the performance of the selected inductor simulator is evaluated and subsequently verified in the design of 5th-order high-pass ladder and 2nd-order frequency filters. In addition, experimental results using commercially available AD844/ADs are given to verify the theoretical analysis and SPICE simulations
High Input Impedance Voltage-Mode Universal Biquadratic Filters With Three Inputs Using Three CCs and Grounding Capacitors
Two current conveyors (CCs) based high input impedance voltage-mode universal biquadratic filters each with three input terminals and one output terminal are presented. The first circuit is composed of three differential voltage current conveyors (DVCCs), two grounded capacitors and four resistors. The second circuit is composed of two DVCCs, one differential difference current conveyor (DDCC), two grounded capacitors and four grounded resistors. The proposed circuits can realize all the standard filter functions, namely, lowpass, bandpass, highpass, notch and allpass filters by the selections of different input voltage terminals. The proposed circuits offer the features of high input impedance, using only grounded capacitors and low active and passive sensitivities. Moreover, the x ports of the DVCCs (or DDCC) in the proposed circuits are connected directly to resistors. This design offers the feature of a direct incorporation of the parasitic resistance at the x terminal of the DVCC (DDCC), Rx, as a part of the main resistance
Efficient detection of contagious outbreaks in massive metropolitan encounter networks
Physical contact remains difficult to trace in large metropolitan networks,
though it is a key vehicle for the transmission of contagious outbreaks.
Co-presence encounters during daily transit use provide us with a city-scale
time-resolved physical contact network, consisting of 1 billion contacts among
3 million transit users. Here, we study the advantage that knowledge of such
co-presence structures may provide for early detection of contagious outbreaks.
We first examine the "friend sensor" scheme --- a simple, but universal
strategy requiring only local information --- and demonstrate that it provides
significant early detection of simulated outbreaks. Taking advantage of the
full network structure, we then identify advanced "global sensor sets",
obtaining substantial early warning times savings over the friends sensor
scheme. Individuals with highest number of encounters are the most efficient
sensors, with performance comparable to individuals with the highest travel
frequency, exploratory behavior and structural centrality. An efficiency
balance emerges when testing the dependency on sensor size and evaluating
sensor reliability; we find that substantial and reliable lead-time could be
attained by monitoring only 0.01% of the population with the highest degree.Comment: 4 figure
Equilibrium vortex formation in ultrarapidly rotating two-component Bose-Einstein condensates
Equilibrium vortex formation in rotating binary Bose gases with a rotating
frequency higher than the harmonic trapping frequency is investigated
theoretically. We consider the system being evaporatively cooled to form
condensates and a combined numerical scheme is applied to ensure the binary
system being in an authentic equilibrium state. To keep the system stable
against the large centrifugal force of ultrafast rotation, a quartic trapping
potential is added to the existing harmonic part. Using the Thomas-Fermi
approximation, a critical rotating frequency \Omega_c is derived, which
characterizes the structure with or without a central density hole. Vortex
structures are studied in detail with rotation frequency both above and below
?\Omega_c and with respect to the miscible, symmetrically separated, and
asymmetrically separated phases in their nonrotating ground-state counterparts.Comment: 7 pages, 7 figure
Single ICCII Sinusoidal Oscillators Employing Grounded Capacitors
Two inverting second-generation current conveyors (ICCII) based sinusoidal oscillators are presented. The first sinusoidal oscillator is composed of one ICCII, two grounded capacitors and two resistors. The oscillation condition and oscillation frequency can be orthogonally controllable. The second sinusoidal oscillator is composed of one ICCII, two grounded capacitors and three resistors. The oscillation condition and oscillation frequency can be independently controllable through different resistors
Spontaneous Crystallization of Skyrmions and Fractional Vortices in the Fast-rotating and Rapidly-quenched Spin-1 Bose-Einstein Condensates
We investigate the spontaneous generation of crystallized topological defects
via the combining effects of fast rotation and rapid thermal quench on the
spin-1 Bose-Einstein condensates. By solving the stochastic projected
Gross-Pitaevskii equation, we show that, when the system reaches equilibrium, a
hexagonal lattice of skyrmions, and a square lattice of half-quantized vortices
can be formed in a ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic spinor BEC, respetively,
which can be imaged by using the polarization-dependent phase-contrast method
Bending-wave Instability of a Vortex Ring in a Trapped Bose-Einstein Condensate
Based on a velocity formula derived by matched asymptotic expansion, we
investigate the dynamics of a circular vortex ring in an axisymmetric
Bose-Einstein condensate in the Thomas-Fermi limit. The trajectory for an
axisymmetrically placed and oriented vortex ring is entirely determined,
revealing that the vortex ring generally precesses in condensate. The linear
instability due to bending waves is investigated both numerically and
analytically. General stability boundaries for various perturbed wavenumbers
are computed. In particular, the excitation spectrum and the absolutely stable
region for the static ring are analytically determined.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
